North West 200: Portrush and Portstewart businesses gear up for race week
The North West 200 is back in action this week with thousands of people expected to descend upon the north coast for the racing extravaganza. The influx of people also means big business for local vendors in the area. The Causeway Chamber estimated that the total economic impact of the North West 200 last year was more than £20m.President of Causeway Chamber James Kilgore said the event "brings communities together, creates seasonal jobs, and generates long-term tourism interest well beyond race week".
For many businesses, preparations began well in advance of race week.Janet Chestnutt is the manager of The Three Kings Coffee shop in Portstewart, located minutes away from the racing.Janet said the North West 200 is a very busy week for the shop with queues expected to be out of the door."Our stock will be prepared all week now for it, the kitchen will do their own stock and preparation and our deli counter," she said."We have got a busy shop but the events help us so very much economically."
Hotels fully booked
Adele Kenney works at the Inn On The Coast, which overlooks the race track. "We look forward to this week every year," Adele said.
Preparations for putting up a stand for visitors to purchase tickets to watch the race at the venue began two weeks ago."Once the scaffolding goes up, we do have a lot of explaining to do for our customers, but they then become excited about it," she said."I sold two programmes to two people from Germany and they aren't even here for the race, [they] just wanted to know more about it."Adele says the key item to keep the staff going during the busy period is sweets."We take a lot of sugar on board and just keep going and keep on smiling, there is actually a queue of staff wanting to work race Saturday, not the other way around," she said."It is a big week for the inn, you couldn't do without it up here, it kicks off your summer."We are very proud of the North West 200 and we are very proud that it's on our doorstep."
Dylan Neill is the manager of Tides restaurant, which is situated right beside the race track. The Tides usually opens from 12:30 BST, but for the North West it will open at 08:00.He said the preparation is "a lot of work" but the hard work is worth it for his team."We have built our own bar this year for the outside area instead of using beer pumps, so we've made a couple of improvements," Dylan said."It brings so many tourists in, it helps staff get their hours in because usually at this time of year its quiet because of kids in school."Rolling coverage, analysis, features and results throughout the event will be available on the BBC Sport NI website.

Players can watch the draw live tonight at 8:45pm on the National Lottery website or on YouTube. An anonymous UK ticket holder won the existing record jackpot of £195 million in July 2022. Just two months earlier, Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, won £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket for the draw in May 2022. The UK's third biggest win came after an anonymous ticket-holder scooped the £177 million jackpot in the draw on November last year. The biggest so far this year was £83 million which was won in January. Tonight's winner could end up richer than Adele with the £280 million figure topping the singer's £184million ($250 million) net worth. Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn said: "We are now on the verge of potentially creating the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen - making a single UK winner instantly richer than the likes of Adele and Dua Lipa while also landing them at the number one spot on The National Lottery's biggest wins list." It comes after no one was lucky enough to pick up the £199 million jackpot on Tuesday. Multiple rollovers have increased the prize draw up for grabs tonight. Tuesday's winning numbers were: 12, 15, 38, 47, 48, plus lucky stars 05, 07. If tonight's jackpot is scooped by one person they will instantly top the National Lottery's biggest wins list. Lottery wins often go unclaimed and prize draws are sometimes not won by anyone, leading to a rollover. Currently there are four National Lottery winners yet to claim £1 million prizes. Three are winning Millionaire Maker codes, one was bought in Stevenage, one in Liverpool and one in Wiltshire. If prizes aren't claimed roughly six months after being won then the cash is invested back into the National Lottery.

EuroMillions jackpot could see single ticket holder win record £208 million
A single ticket holder in the UK could be in line for the biggest lottery win the country has ever seen, if they manage to match the numbers in Friday's EuroMillions draw. The jackpot has rolled over to an estimated £208 million after Tuesday's draw, which would have been a record-breaking £199 million, had no winner. The jackpot on Friday would be the largest prize the UK has seen, National Lottery operator Allwyn said. Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, said: 'We are now on the verge of potentially creating the biggest National Lottery winner this country has ever seen – making a single UK winner instantly richer than the likes of Adele and Dua Lipa while also landing them at the number one spot on The National Lottery's biggest wins list.' The current record is held by an anonymous UK ticket-holder who won £195 million on 19 July 2022. In May of the same year, Joe and Jess Thwaite, from Gloucester, won £184,262,899 with a Lucky Dip ticket. The UK's third biggest win came after an anonymous ticket-holder scooped £177 million in November last year, while the biggest this year was £83 million in January. To play EuroMillions, entrants must pay £2.50 per play. They will then enter five numbers and two 'lucky stars', or opt for a lucky dip, which will randomise the numbers. Only all seven numbers being correct can win the jackpot, but just two can secure a small prize. Recent analysis found that there was a 1 in 22 chance of winning the lowest prize of £2.50. For the jackpot, the probability is 1 in 139 million. The game is a transnational lottery, with players originally just in UK, France, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal and Switzerland. Players from all of these countries contribute to the massive prize fund. Draws are held every Tuesday and Friday and players must be 18 to enter.
