The focus then shifts firmly on the
45 lakh electors deleted
due to reasons such as non-submission of enumeration form, not found at given address, or having changed address. The window to get back on to the electoral roll for these 45 lakh people will remain open until September 1 - the last day for filing of 'claims' for inclusion in the roll, and 'objections' to seek exclusion of any elector. The latter can be filed by electors as well as political parties.

Electoral registration officers will address all claims and objections by September 25. The final electoral roll will be published on September 30.

Meanwhile, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Bihar has activated its full machinery to bring in more eligible electors into the fold. Special camps will be set up across all block-cum-circle offices (AEROs) and urban body offices (like Nagar Panchayat, Nagar Parishad, and Nagar Nigam circle offices) for submission of documents. The CEO further appealed with all political parties, seeking cooperation in ensuring accuracy of the electoral roll.

Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese and home affairs minister Tony Burke announced the leadership change at a press conference in Canberra, standing alongside both Barrett and Kershaw. Barrett, currently serving as a deputy commissioner, brings significant experience in counter-terrorism and international operations. She has played key roles in deployments to the Solomon Islands and the investigation into the Bali bombings. She will become the ninth commissioner of the Australian Federal Police (AFP). 'As commissioner, I will ensure the AFP continues to keep Australians safe, protects the vulnerable, and identifies and disrupts an emerging cohort of criminals who have mixed motivations and threaten our national security,' Barrett said as quoted by Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Seeman restrained from making defamatory remarks on DIG
Chennai: Madras high court has restrained Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief coordinator, Seeman , from making defamatory statements against deputy inspector-general of police Varun Kumar. Justice K Kumaresh Babu issued the interim order on a civil suit filed by Varun Kumar against Seeman. Varun Kumar contended that Seeman began a personal tirade against him ever since he acted against an NTK member, 'Sattai' Duraimurugan. Duraimurugan was arrested by Tiruvallur district police for causing a law-and-order issue due to a false claim on his YouTube channel about the death of Foxconn factory workers from food poisoning. He was also detained under the Goondas Act, Varun Kumar said. At that time, he was serving as superintendent of police at Tiruvallur district. Following Duraimurugan's arrest, Seeman developed animosity towards him, the officer stated. He added that Seeman had been making disparaging remarks against him in the media since then. Seeman termed him a 'beggar' and sullied the image of the entire police force in the country by saying he was 'after all an IPS officer'. Hence, there shall be an order of interim injunction as prayed for, the judge said, and adjourned the hearing to Aug 6.
