Support Pouring In for Sparks Star Cameron Brink After Emotional Admission
Support Pouring In for Sparks Star Cameron Brink After Emotional Admission originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After more than a year on the sidelines, Cameron Brink finally made her highly anticipated return from injury on Tuesday. It took the 23-year-old more than 13 months to fully recover from an ACL injury that cut what was a promising rookie campaign short after just 15 games hasn't exactly taken the WNBA by storm in her return to the court, but the important thing is that she's finally doing the thing she loves again. Cameron Brink Gets Emotional on Social Media Brink took to Instagram on Saturday to share some photos of her recent comeback. The 6-foot-4 forward posted a series of pictures that showed just how happy she is to be back. Brink also made an emotional admission about how much it means to her.'Missed it with my whole being 💜💛' she captioned her post. WNBA World Rallies Behind Brink Brink's post quickly blew up online, with fans showing their support for the former Stanford Cardinal star. Individuals from in and around the league have also rallied behind Brink as they shared their reactions to her long-awaited return."Great to see you out there🙏🏾🙏🏾" commented WNBA legend Lisa Leslie."We missed you 💜💛" wrote the Sparks."yes maaaam 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜" reacted Sparks teammate Azura Stevens. "Welcome Back!!🥳❤️" reacted Washington Mystics rookie Kiki Iriafen. "🥰🥰🥰" posted Nika Muhl of the Seattle Storm. "welcome back sis! 🫶🏿✨" said former All-Star Chiney Ogwumike. Brink Is Back It does not come as a surprise that the Sparks have been cautious in bringing Brink back into the mix. After all, she's missed a considerable amount of games, and she will need some time to regain her conditioning. She's come off the bench in her first two appearances, averaging 6.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in just 13.0 minutes of should only be a matter of time before Brink is able to get her legs under her, and she should be able to get her usual load back — she averaged 21.9 minutes last season — sooner rather than later. Sparks Are on a Roll L.A. has gone 1-1 in Brink's return. They have, however, won seven out of their last 10 games, which has them sitting on a 12-15 Sparks are still 10th in the WNBA, but it is worth noting that they are just 1.5 games behind the Las Vegas Aces for the eighth and final playoff spot in the this point, a postseason berth certainly isn't out of the question for L.A., especially with Brink back in the story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Refuses to Apologize for Controversial WNBA Comments
Fever Star Sophie Cunningham Refuses to Apologize for Controversial WNBA Comments originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Sophie Cunningham is not the type who keeps her true feelings to herself. This is why the Indiana Fever did not hold back when she shared her thoughts on the WNBA's expansion plans. While the league's announcement in mid-July of three new expansion cities was generally met by excitement in the basketball world, Cunningham was brutally honest with her take the WNBA could have done better than Cleveland or Detroit. 'I do think that Miami would have been a great one,' she said on July 1. 'Everyone loves Florida. Nashville is an amazing city. Kansas City, amazing opportunity. … But, man, I don't know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or Cleveland.' Cunningham's strong take prompted a backlash against the 28-year-old guard, and the issue blew up online. The matter has become a touchy subject, particularly for folks from Detroit and Cleveland. Cunningham Is Not Backing Down Cunningham had the opportunity to address the issue in the first episode of her brand-new podcast, 'Show Me Something.' According to the Fever veteran, she's merely a messenger. "I am someone who says what everyone else is thinking or talking about. Not just with the refs, but with Detroit, with Cleveland," she said. 'I want people to hear what I just said. I am the only one. But if you ask our league, they feel the same exact way." Cunningham made it abundantly clear that she has nothing against the people of Detroit or Cleveland. In fact, she believes 'people are amazing in those cities.' However, when asked if she wanted to 'give it another shot,' Cunningham said she's not backing down. "No, because I said what I had to say," she stated. "And I'm not going to apologize because I fully believe that." The WNBA Expansion Regardless of what Cunningham thinks, the WNBA will push through with its expansion plans. The league will increase to 15 teams next season, with the cities of Toronto and Portland getting franchises. Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia will join the league in the succeeding years, with the WNBA expanding to 18 teams by story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 1, 2025, where it first appeared.

Rangers Facing Joc Pederson Decision After Bruce Bochy's Move
Rangers Facing Joc Pederson Decision After Bruce Bochy's Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Texas Rangers dropped their weekend series against the Seattle Mariners, but they remain in the hunt for a postseason berth, sitting at 58–55 and just two games back of the third Wild Card spot. After winning the World Series in 2023, Texas missed the playoffs last season and responded by bolstering its offense in the offseason, signing designated hitter Joc Pederson to a two-year, $37 million contract that includes a player opt-out after the first year. The 33-year-old veteran earned his deal following a strong campaign with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he batted .275 with a .908 OPS and 23 home runs over 132 games. Joc Pederson Benched as Struggles Continue Unfortunately, Pederson's production has plummeted in 2025. After suffering a right hand fracture in May that sidelined him for two months, Pederson has struggled mightily, even when healthy, batting just .126 with a .473 OPS and two home runs across 53 games. Ahead of Monday's series opener against the New York Yankees, manager Bruce Bochy moved Pederson to the bench in favor of Josh Jung. With October in Sight, Rangers Face Pederson Issue Jung, who had missed a few games with calf soreness, has returned to the lineup after a hot stretch following the All-Star break. Once Jung resumes his regular role at third base, left-handed slugger Josh Smith is expected to shift to designated hitter, especially against right-handed pitching forcing Pederson's bat out of the lineup. Smith has been far more productive, batting .266 with a .743 OPS and nine home runs. Pederson's opportunities may be even more limited against left-handed starters, as he was not in the lineup Monday against left-hander Max Fried. The Rangers have also recently opted to start both right-handed catchers against lefties, Jonah Heim and Kyle Higashioka, with Heim often serving as the DH. Right-handed slugger Jake Burger is also expected to return soon, further crowding the roster and potentially pushing Pederson out of the mix. Unfortunately for Texas, Pederson holds a player option for next season that he is likely to exercise given his poor performance. With the Rangers pushing to return to October baseball, Pederson will need to find a way to contribute before his role disappears entirely.
