Gang involved in loan fraud using forged salary slips busted, 2 held

Indore: Vijay Nagar police busted a gang involved in large-scale loan fraud using forged salary slips of a reputed company and arrested two persons on Saturday. "The accused were operating a sophisticated scam by exploiting loopholes in the banking system and presenting themselves as salaried employees of Blue Star Company to secure personal and vehicle loans worth several lakhs from multiple banks," said ACP Aditya Patle. "The fraud came to light following a complaint from HDFC Bank, which reported suspicious documents submitted during a loan application. The documents included fake salary slips and account statements showing regular salary credits from Blue Star Company," he said. During the investigation, it was found that the accused opened a current account in the name of Blue Star using forged GST and business registration documents under the name of an AC technician associated with the company. They regularly transferred fixed amounts from this fake company account to their own and their associates' accounts, portraying them as monthly salaries. The arrested accused have been identified as Ravi Kumar Pal (32), a resident of Sadarpur, Noida, and Devendra Singh (30), a resident of Aanshal Town, Meerut. Both confessed during interrogation to obtaining documents like Aadhaar and PAN cards in fabricated names. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dette er Rolls-Royce'en av høreapparater (og koster under 89 €) Top Trending News Today Lær mer Undo "Devendra, for instance, opened a private bank account in the name of a fictitious person, Dev Sharma, and used that to secure an Rs 11 lakh loan from another private bank by showing fake salary credits," he said. "Ravi Pal used similar tactics by manipulating Aadhaar-linked mobile numbers. He convinced an acquaintance, Shailesh Ahirwar, to link his (Ravi's) number to Shailesh's Aadhaar card. Later, he used OTPs to update Shailesh's address to Indore and created a fake PAN card in Shailesh's name with his own photograph. Using this identity, he opened a bank account, produced forged salary slips, and secured another Rs 11 lakh loan from a private bank," he said. The accused are believed to have previously defrauded several banks of nearly Rs 50 lakh. Encouraged by past success, they attempted another loan using similar methods when HDFC's internal verification raised suspicion, prompting a police complaint. Both accused have been produced before court and are currently in police custody for further interrogation. Investigators are now probing the extent of the scam and identifying other possible accomplices.

Auric will get 10,000 acres for expansion, says secretary of department for promotion of industry & internal trade

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Amardeep Singh Bhatia, the secretary of Centre's department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) at the Centre, announced on Saturday that the Aurangabad Industrial City (Auric) will undergo further expansion on 10,000 acres of land. "Auric will play a key role in the path to achieving a $30 trillion economy for India by 2047. It has been playing a pioneering role by emerging as a vibrant manufacturing hub," Bhatia said during his visit to Auric at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Auric is a greenfield industrial smart city taking shape over 10,000 acres as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). The industrial city is being developed in Bidkin and Shendra nodes, with the Bidkin node already attracting significant investments from electric vehicle manufacturers, among others. Bhatia added that Centre plans to establish 100 additional industrial cities like Auric across the country. "In order to achieve the $30 trillion economy target, we have to grow at the rate of 9 to 10% every year. The development of manufacturing hubs is crucial to achieve this," he said. P Anbalagan, the principal secretary of the state industries department, who accompanied the Union secretary, said, "The necessary notification would be issued in the next two to three months, paving the way for the expansion of the AURIC." Bhatia also visited the Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC), emphasising that Indian startups should focus on building world-class products. "The Indian startups need to focus not just on India but on global markets. The country has emerged as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally," he said, praising MAGIC for securing more than 20 patents for startups and supporting tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Speaking on the occasion, Anbalagan announced that 15 new policies would soon be introduced by state govt, covering sectors such as defence, event management, logistics, deep technology, and special MSME support. "Funding worth Rs 3,000 crore will be made available across various domains for startups. Additionally, the 'MAITRI 2.0' portal will soon be launched, offering approvals for over 120 services through a single-window system," he said.

Aadhaar BIG update: UIDAI to enforce stricter rules for updating, obtaining Aadhaar card due to..., check new rules

Representational Image Aadhaar update: Amid the debate over Aadhaar not being considered a valid proof Indian citizenship, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has tightened rules for obtaining and updating Aadhaar cards for citizens in a bid to prevent misuse by various elements and make the process more foolproof. How UIDAI is making Aadhaar rules stricter? The UIDAI, which issues Aadhaar cards, will access online databases like passport, ration cards, as well as birth and matriculation certificates, to verify the details of the individual applying for a new Aadhaar card or updating an existing one, according to a Times of India (TOI) report. This will ensure than only verified citizens who are adults, are able to acquire an Aadhaar ID which is required to avail key government and private services, including central welfare services. What is second-layer verification? As per the report, UIDAI has developed has new tool that adds a second layer of verification during the enrolment or updating of Aadhaar by an individual. This novel tool will verify the identity of the person in question by accessing other identification documents available on online databases, such as driving licenses, PAN, MNREGS details, passports, birth certificates, etc, it said. In future, the tool will also be able to access other categories of documents, such as electricity and water bills, ensuring a citizen's homogenous identity, it added. Why UIDAI has tightened Aadhaar rules? Earlier, Aadhaar– which was initially conceived as a proof of identity, not citizenship– could be availed with minimal security checks, resulting in innumerable cases where the ID proof was allegedly issued to illegal immigrants, non-citizens, or even deceased persons. Over 140 crore Aadhaar numbers have been issued by the UIDAI in the last 15 years, which allegedly also include the above mentioned cases. 'It is going to be difficult for any illegal immigrant to now get Aadhaar,' the TOI quoted an official as saying. Citing sources, the report said that even if illegal immigrants use Aadhaar to bypass the SIR of electoral rolls, new ones will not be able to use it as a base for obtaining other documents.
