An Orange County high school student was stabbed in the heart. Now a 15-year-old is accused of murder
The Orange County district attorney's office has charged a Santa Ana High School student with murder and assault in the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old classmate during a fight after school that also left two other students injured.
The 15-year-old, who was not identified because he is a minor, is also facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing the two other classmates earlier this week.
The teen and his 17-year-old brother turned themselves in to police on Wednesday, hours after the deadly incident in front of Santa Ana High School, according to authorities.
Santa Ana Police Officer Natalie Garcia said the brothers were questioned by investigators and then transported to juvenile hall, where they were booked. She said the 17-year-old remains in custody.
The incident occurred at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday, when Santa Ana School Police officers reported a stabbing that occurred during a fight in front of Santa Ana High School.
At least three male students, ages 14, 15 and 16, were found with stab wounds and taken by paramedics to a hospital.
Prosecutors said the 14-year-old boy who died was stabbed in the heart and was identified by authorities as Armando Morales of Santa Ana. His family created a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral expenses.
Misael Morales wrote on the site that his brother was a happy and smart kid who was known for making people laugh.
Jazmin Delgado, the victim's cousin, echoed those words in an interview with KABC-TV.
'He was just always a happy kid and always loved to help and was just an amazing little kid,' Delgado told the station.
Armando's family said the teen was in the wrong place at the wrong time. They said he was stepping in to help his friends when he was stabbed.
What sparked the confrontation remains under investigation by police, who allege those involved in the fight, with exception of the victim, were affiliated with gangs.

Charity 'devastated' after bus wheels stolen
A charity that provides transport for people with disabilities said it is "devastated" after the wheels were stolen from one of its minibuses. Chippenham & District Transport for the Disabled said it called police after discovering the theft from a Ford Transit van on Wednesday morning. The minibus had been parked in the Lidl car park on Hungerdown Lane. Martyn Peel, chair of trustees at the charity, said it hoped to get the van "back on the road by Wednesday", but that the replacement wheels had cost £900. The charity, which has been running for more than 50 years, provides transport for disabled people and vulnerable adults including shopping trips and medical appointments. Following the theft, it said it was forced to move its other four vehicles to a more secure site, and has set up a GoFundMe page to cover the cost. Mr Peel said that many people in the town relied upon the charity's services. "Some [care homes] like to get their clients out, and we provide transport if they're wheelchair bound. "We've got three lift buses that will take wheelchairs and schools use them as well." Teen girl killed by pack of neglected dogs as she tried to help them, neighbors say
A teenage girl was killed in a 'horrific' attack by a pack of neglected dogs she had been caring for, authorities say. Makayla Fortner, 15, was mauled to death 'by multiple dogs' in an enclosed area at a home in the community of Alexander, Arkansas. Around 30 rescues lived on the property. Deputies from the Saline County Sheriff's Office said they were alerted to the attack around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and arrived to find the teen already dead.n Fortne had previously been helping to care for the animals as well as working to find them permanent homes, officials said. With the assistance of Benton Animal Services, deputies seized multiple dogs from the property. The dogs were a mix of pit bulls, pit bull crossbreeds, and hounds, Benton Animal Services spokesperson Matt Thibault told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Officials told the newspaper that 14 dogs were euthanized in the wake of the incident. Investigators said they are looking into how the 'sudden and tragic' attack unfolded. Neighbors told ABC affiliate KATV said Fortner was attempting to feed the dogs before the deadly attack. Ralph Murphy said that he witnessed a deputy fire two shots from a pistol to disperse some of the animals as he headed towards the victim. 'And then he walked over and looked down and turned around and walked back, and so I moved and I saw a body on the ground,' he said. A friend of the victim's mother, Stephanie Wilkie, launched a GoFundMe page to support the family and help cover funeral expenses. 'This unimaginable loss has left her family in deep shock, grief, and emotional pain.' Bowman described Fortner as 'a beautiful, bright girl with the kindest soul who had so much life ahead of her.' Just days before the attack, Wilkie posted on Facebook that she and her daughter were looking after a litter of more than 40 puppies at the home of an elderly couple. 'So like normal, found myself in a hoarding situation of an older couple in their 80s with too many dogs,' she wrote on June 8, adding that there are 'puppies everywhere, 40+ and a litter born today.' Neighbors said that they have complained multiple times about the dogs being uncontrolled and running away from the property. 'These dogs were very vicious at the fence to the point that no one wanted to let their children walk to and from the bus stop,' White Oak Drive resident Heidi Clay said. "And if somebody had done something, then maybe this little girl would be alive.'
