Three family members were found dead in a Toyota Fortuner SUV in Punjab. Identified as Sandeep Singh Rajpal, his wife and their son, it appears to be a suicide case.
Three members of a family were found dead inside a Toyota Fortuner SUV under mysterious circumstances in the fields near a village in Punjab's Patiala district.
The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Singh Rajpal, 45, a property dealer from Mohali; his wife Mandeep Kaur, 42, and their son Abhay Singh, 15.
According to the police officer Manjit Singh, it appeared to be a suicide case; however, all angles are being investigated.
The car was found parked on a deserted village road along the National Highway in Tepla Banur.
The victims' bodies showed gunshot wounds, with blood splattered on the plastic coverings inside the vehicle. The property dealer's body was discovered in the driver's seat, while his wife's body was in the front passenger seat, and their son's body was found in the backseat.
Farm workers noticed the vehicle and, sensing something was wrong, alerted the police. A team of officers, including Rajpura Manjit Singh, Arshdeep Sharma, Hardev Singh, Jaswinder Pal, and forensic experts, arrived at the scene to investigate.
As per the police, a handgun was recovered from the SUV. The bodies have been sent to a hospital for post-mortem, scheduled for Monday. The police said they have contacted the relatives of the family, and they would be arriving from Mohali soon.
Sandeep Singh, a native of Sikhwala village in Bathinda, had been residing in Mohali for the past eight years. According to the police, his brother still lives in their ancestral village in Bathinda, while his sister is living abroad.
