For comparison, the first trailer for GTA VI, released in 2023, garnered 93 million views in its first day as a YouTube exclusive. Rockstar now claims the latest trailer marks the biggest video launch of all time across all categories.
Set in Vice City, a fictionalised version of Miami, GTA VI is the long-awaited sequel to 2013's Grand Theft Auto V. The game's official release has been pushed to May 26, 2026, after an initial target of 2025. Despite the delay, the hype continues to build, fueled by trailer drops and growing fan speculation.
The demand for the game isn't limited to gameplay alone. The trailer featured 'Hot Together' by The Pointer Sisters, and Spotify has reported a 182,000% surge in streams of the song since the trailer's debut.
Developed by Rockstar Games and published by Take-Two Interactive, GTA VI has reportedly cost over $1 billion to produce. That investment comes with high expectations, especially considering that GTA V has generated nearly $10 billion in revenue since its release, thanks to consistent content updates and an active online community.
