EgyptAir cancels flights to Beirut, Amman, Baghdad, Erbil until further notice due to ongoing Iranian-Israeli conflict

CAIRO – 15 June 2025: EgyptAir announced on Sunday the suspension of its flights to Beirut, Amman, Baghdad, and Erbil until further notice.
The decision comes in response to ongoing developments in the region and is part of the airline's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its passengers.
EgyptAir stated that operations will resume once the situation stabilizes.
The company called upon the passengers of flights heading to these destinations to review their booking status on the hotline 1717 or call: 090070000, 97142306666, 966122297777. Travelers can also e-mail the company on www.egyptair.com or go to the nearest travel agency.
For the third day in a raw, Iran and Israel have exchanged the launch of missiles and drones, killing dozens and injuring hundreds in both countries, besides bombing vital nuclear and scientific facilities. Iran said that most of the killed people are women and children, in addition toseveral nuclear scientists and military leaders.
The conflict started when Israel launched airstrikes in the early hours of June 13, 2025, targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, military institutions, and oil refineries. In retaliation, Iran has launched a devastating missile attack on Israel causing massive destruction in vital facilities and oil refinery in Haifa.
Today, the Israeli military warned the Iranians to stay away from all nuclear facilities and weapons manufacturing factories, amid the non-stop Israeli strikes on Iran. Likewise, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards sent warnings to Israeli residents of the occupied territories to leave areas near nuclear and oil facilities.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Army said that it destroyed and shot down 44 Israeli drones along border areas in two days.

Israel Extends State of Emergency Until June 30

According to *Yedioth Ahronoth*, the extension applies specifically to the Home Front Command, underscoring heightened concerns over continued threats to civilian areas. France Strips Sarkozy of Highest Honor After Corruption Conviction
Israa Farhan Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has been officially stripped of the prestigious Légion d'honneur, the country's highest civilian distinction, following his criminal conviction for corruption and influence peddling. The decision was published in France's official government journal on Sunday. Sarkozy, a center-right politician who served from 2007 to 2012, has been entangled in legal battles since leaving office. In December 2024, France's highest appeals court upheld his 2021 conviction, which sentenced him to one year under electronic surveillance for illicitly attempting to influence a judge in a wiretapping case. The original sentence, which included three years of prison time with two suspended, marked a historic precedent in modern French history — making Sarkozy the first former president to be sentenced to actual jail time for misconduct during his presidency. Additionally, Sarkozy's appeal against a separate conviction for illegal campaign financing was rejected in 2023. He had been found guilty of overspending during his failed 2012 re-election campaign. Under the rules governing the *Légion d'honneur*, recipients convicted of serious crimes can be stripped of the award. The move aligns with the order's tradition of maintaining the honor's integrity.
