Police seize drugs, guns, cash during investigation at North Charleston motel
Detectives with the North Charleston Police Department's narcotics unit and members of the Intelligence-Led Policing Unit executed a search warrant on a room at the Suburban Studios Extended Stay on Wednesday.
Inside the room, police found multiple firearms, drugs, and more than $5,000 in cash.
Police said the suspect, 43-year-old Jonathan Simmons, is facing 14 charges, including possession of a weapon during a violent crime, trafficking in fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, as well as possession of firearms and ammunition.
According to an incident report, one of the weapons was reported stolen out of Charleston County, and a recovered AR-style weapon had no make, model, or serial number on it.
Simmons was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

Iraqi and Lebanese intelligence agencies have coordinated to discover and destroy one of Lebanon's largest drug factories making the highly addictive amphetamine Captagon, Iraq's Ministry of Interior says. The announcement late on Monday showcased rare security operation between the two countries and comes a month after the Lebanese army issued a statement about the discovery of a factory with large amounts of drugs in Yammoune village in the eastern Bekaa Valley. Iraq's Interior Ministry said the Lebanese operation in Yammoune in mid-July came after Iraqi authorities gave Beirut information about the factory. A senior Lebanese security official on Tuesday said it was not clear why Iraqi authorities made the announcement on Monday, adding that Lebanon's security agencies are always in contact with Arab and international security agencies. Arab states have been intensifying efforts to battle the massive drug trade. The vast majority of the world's Captagon is produced in neighbouring Syria with some production in Lebanon. Western governments estimated that Captagon generated billions of dollars in revenue for ousted longtime Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, his family, associates and allies. The former government in Damascus denied the accusations. But in the immediate days after al-Assad's fall in December, opposition fighters, who took control of the capital, Damascus, uncovered large stashes of Captagon, a stimulant that has long been mass-produced in the country and became almost synonymous with the nation's former leadership. Ahmed al-Sharaa, who led the rebels who forced al-Assad out of the country and has since become interim Syrian president, accused the former regime of turning Syria into 'the world's leading source of Captagon'. He promised to crack down on Captagon manufacturing and trade. In February, the interior ministers of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Iraq held talks in Amman on ways to combat the illegal drug trade and agreed to set up a joint telecommunications cell to exchange information. Smugglers have used Jordan as a corridor to smuggle Captagon pills out of Syria, mainly to oil-rich Arab Gulf states.

Large amount of drugs, guns seized in Brevard County raid
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman after a months-long investigation into drug-dealing activities at her residence in Cocoa. The BCSO Special Investigations Unit, alongside SWAT, raided the house on A Lane. They found four firearms in the residence, including several handguns and an AR-15. Officers also seized a large amount of drugs, including approximately 162 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of meth, 80 grams of Alprazolam pills, 14 grams of Oxycodone pills, 16 grams of Hydrocodone pills, and 418 grams of cannabis. Victoria Sinclair was taken into the Brevard County jail on four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and multiple charges of trafficking and possession of illegal drugs. Convicted felon in Lufkin pleads guilty to federal firearms violation
LUFKIN, Texas (KETK)– A Lufkin man pleaded guilty to a federal firearms violation after being arrested in February. According to the U.S. Department of Justice Eastern District of Texas, on Feb. 3, 2025, Preston Allen, 58, was arrested at his house in Lufkin when officers found him standing outside with an AR-15 style rifle. 'Operation Take Back America': 2 Mexican nationals sentenced after trafficking meth in East Texas 'Allen was ordered to put the rifle on the ground and was taken into custody,' officials said. 'Further investigation revealed Allen is a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.' Allen pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm on Tuesday and faces up to 15 years in federal prison at sentencing. The Department of Justice said a sentencing hearing will be scheduled after the completion of a presentence investigation.
