Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth wants to leave Brighton if game time does not improve
Carl Rushworth wants to leave Brighton & Hove Albion unless his chances of game time improve.
The goalkeeper's future is set to reach a crunch point this summer after six years at the club without making a first team appearance.
Rushworth, under contract at Brighton until 2027, was on the bench for 12 Premier League matches in succession from January as cover for first choice Bart Verbruggen during Jason Steele's recovery from shoulder surgery.

Steele, 34, returned as a substitute for last Saturday's 4-2 defeat at Brentford following an outing in the under-21s. That has brought to a head the prospect of Rushworth getting minutes under head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
The 23-year-old is not interested in spending a fifth season in succession out on loan to a league club since joining Brighton from Halifax Town in 2019.
He wants to progress his career by settling his future after featuring in England junior squads at under-19 and under-20 level and playing the second half of a 2-0 friendly defeat for England under-21s against Japan in 2023.
Rushworth has gained experience in more than 130 games on season-long loans to Walsall in League Two (2021-22), Lincoln in League One (2022-23) and Swansea in the Championship (2023-24). He spent the first half of the current campaign on loan to Hull City in the second tier.
Steele was due for surgery when Brighton recalled Rushworth during the January transfer window after injuries limited him to three appearances for Hull.
Dutch international Verbruggen, 22, is poised to make his 32nd league appearance out of 34 this season in tomorrow's home match against West Ham.

Transfer news: Mbeumo to Man United; Sancho to leave Chelsea; Hojlund to Inter Milan
It's been a busy summer transfer window for Manchester United already, and the Red Devils aren't slowing down anytime soon. MORE — Premier League transfers: Ins & outs | Transfer predictions Today's biggest transfer news features two incomings at Old Trafford (one desired, one maybe not so much), plus a possible outgoing, and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher leaving Liverpool for a starting Premier League job… Bryan Mbeumo wants Manchester United move According to David Ornstein, star Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo (20 goals, 7 assists) prefers Manchester United above all other suitors this summer — and there will be lots of them. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle have already been linked with 25-year-old Cameroon international, but Mbeumo appears to have made a swift decision to have everything sorted and settled long before he reports for preseason. Man United must still negotiate a transfer fee with Brentford, who will certainly intend to recoup north of 60 or $70 million. The Red Devils have already splashed out $84 million to sign another standout winger, Matheus Cunha (15 goals, 6 assists) from Wolves, leading us (and everyone else to wonder: Is captain Bruno Fernandes on his way out? Brentford's leading scorer (20 goals this season) has just two years remaining on his current contract (one year plus a club option) and the west London club is resigned to the fact they must sell now due to the incredible demand. It's not the worst position to be in, or even an unfamiliar one for Brentford, who are one of the best clubs in the world at unearthing lesser known talent that can play at the highest level. See, for example: Mbeumo, Bryan. Now, the next logical question is: Is Yoane Wissa (one year left on his contract with no option) going to leave, too? Inter Milan want loan for Ramsus Hojlund Rasmus Hojlund is two years into his time at Man United, and the club is buying goalscorers like there's a global shortage of them (there is). Probably not the best indicator of job security for a 22-year-old striker whose league goals just fell from 10 to 4 from season 1 to 2, not to mention one who cost more than $80 million. That doesn't mean lots of other clubs, like Inter Milan, aren't still interested in Hojlund this summer, just not anywhere near what United paid for him and probably also not permanently right away (meaning United have a wait a year to receive the transfer fee). That's what happens when big buys go bad, and United sure do know something about that. Speaking of which… Jadon Sancho to leave Chelsea after loan expires Jadon Sancho will leave Chelsea when his loan ends later this month after club and player couldn't agree personal terms to make his move from Manchester United a permanent one. Chelsea had a $34-million obligation to sign Sancho permanently this summer, but now the Blues will instead pay a penalty of roughly $7 million to send him back to Man United, at which point he will almost certainly be offered out again — though, it wasn't current manager Ruben Amorim who booted him from the first team last summer. Sancho tallied 3 goals and 4 assists for Chelsea in the PL last season. Brentford sign Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool Brentford have executed a summer swap in goal as last year's starter Mark Flekken has moved to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen for $15 million, and Liverpool backup Caoimhin Kelleher has joined for $17 million. Pretty solid business by the Bees, who basically traded in their 31-year-old starter who had one year left, for a five-year younger model with potential still to reach for no extra charge. We are delighted to confirm the signing of Caoimhín Kelleher from Liverpool on a five-year contract, with club option of an additional year ✍️

Jadon Sancho offered route out of Man United if Chelsea pass on permanent deal
Sancho has spent the season on loan at Chelsea (Getty Images) Bayer Leverkusen are considering a move for Jadon Sancho, as he faces up to another move abroad in order to re-ignite his career. The Manchester United winger has had limited impact in a loan move at Chelsea FC, who will only decide whether they want to take up a permanent option after a post-season summit. Advertisement Former club Borussia Dortmund are also understood to have passed up the chance of a deal. Bayer Leverkusen are nevertheless understood to be pondering a deal, due to Sancho's previous impact in the Bundesliga. The 25-year-old has 40 goals and 47 assists in 118 appearances during previous spells for Dortmund. By contrast, he only has three goals and five assists in 30 Premier League games for Chelsea. United are desperate to make sales this summer, and Sancho has long been on the market, going back to a difficult spell under previous manager Erik ten Hag. The winger, also has interest from Serie A, never fully settled after an expensive move in 2021, only ever showing flashes of the form he produced for Dortmund. Advertisement Leverkusen are currently deciding on a shortlist of managers to replace Real Madrid-bound Xabi Alonso, and one of those is Ten Hag. If they do choose the Dutch coach, it is likely that any interest in Sancho would end.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will now be available for Real Madrid during the Club World Cup (Getty Images) Real Madrid will sign Trent Alexander-Arnold before the Club World Cup after Liverpool agreed to let him leave before the end of his contract for £10m. In addition to a flat transfer fee - which sits at approximately £8.4m - the player's wages for the month of June will also transfer to Real Madrid, making the total compensation received in the region of £10m. Alexander-Arnold departs after lifting a record-equalling Premier League title with Liverpool on Sunday - his second league crown as a Reds player, having also won the Champions League, the Club World Cup, an FA Cup and two League Cups. After talks over a new contract with his boyhood club stalled, Alexander-Arnold announced his intention to leave Liverpool at the beginning of May, which was met with hostility from a significant portion of the Liverpool fanbase. Advertisement He was booed upon his substitution against Arsenal, his first home appearance since the announcement, but got a positive sendoff as Anfield cheered him as he walked up to collect his Premier League winner's medal on the weekend. The Galacticos clearly think he could prove the difference in their pursuit of lifting the trophy, feeling his month-early arrival warrants a transfer fee worth more than 10 per cent of the competition's £97m prize money. For Liverpool, this fee will help further soften the financial hit taken by right-back replacement Jeremie Frimpong's arrival, who is set to sign from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £29.5m.
