Barcelona coach Flick banned for Champions League match after UEFA fine
The disciplinary committee imposed a one-match ban in UEFA club competitions for misconduct.
Flick was angered by refereeing decisions during the 4-3 semi-final loss to Inter Milan in May.
The defeat prevented Barcelona from reaching their first Champions League final in ten years.
The sanctions will take immediate effect, sidelining both for the start of this season's Champions League.
In a separate ruling, forwards Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski were fined 5,000 euros each.
They failed to comply with anti-doping instructions and did not report to the control post promptly.
Barcelona received an additional 5,250 euro fine for fans throwing objects during the match.
The club was also fined 2,500 euros for fireworks lit by supporters.
Inter Milan faced penalties totalling 33,500 euros for fan misconduct.
Their supporters blocked public passageways and set off fireworks during the game. - AFP

Napoli favourites to repeat success but Conte stresses need for patience
NAPLES: Napoli manager Antonio Conte exceeded expectations last season by guiding the club to their second Scudetto in three years but this time they are favourites to retain the crown. Conte is again downplaying lofty ambitions, mindful that this season they must juggle Serie A with the Champions League, having missed out on European football last term, while he works to mould a squad reshaped by significant turnover. Victor Osimhen and Giacomo Raspadori have now officially left the club - Osimhen to Galatasaray after a transfer soap opera throughout the close season after a year on loan, while Raspadori will play in La Liga with Atletico Madrid. "It's true we won the title, which was extraordinary and incredible, but now we need to take the second step before we can think about taking the third," Conte told reporters. "Balance is essential for all teams. When I say we are a work in progress, I mean also that we are trying different solutions. We did it throughout last season too," he added. The arrival of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City could prove a match made in heaven alongside Scott McTominay, who enjoyed a remarkable resurgence last season. Alonso says 'no excuses' as Real Madrid prepare for La Liga opener
MADRID: Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said the team's shortened pre-season will not be used as an excuse as they prepare to kick off their La Liga campaign at home to Osasuna on Tuesday. Alonso will take charge at the Santiago Bernabeu for the first time after beginning his reign at the Club World Cup in the United States, where Madrid reached the semi-finals. Madrid's request to postpone their league opener to a later date was rejected by Spanish football officials, and the team have played just one friendly since their 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in New Jersey on July 9. "Obviously it would have been nice to receive some support with our request, especially for the players' health... after such a long season and to have a little more preparation time," Alonso said on Monday. "But anyway, in the end it wasn't to be and that's that. We've only had two weeks and there's no point looking for excuses now." Alonso has several new signings, including former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, at his disposal as Madrid look to turn the page on a disappointing end to the Carlo Ancelotti era. Alonso also fully backed Madrid's opposition to plans to stage a La Liga game between Villarreal and Barcelona in Miami in December. Madrid said last week it would "give an undue sporting advantage" to the teams involved. "I agree wholeheartedly with the club's statement," added Alonso. "I believe that at the start of the competition, we all knew what the rules were, and if the rules are to be changed, it must be unanimously agreed upon by all participants.
