12-year-old girl battles for life and three with 'life changing injuries' after crash
Police have renewed appeals for witnesses, after a serious crash in Denbighshire left seven in hospital. They included a 12-year-old girl with "life threatening injuries", a 13-year-old girl with "serious injuries" and three others with "serious life changing injuries".
The collision happened in Bodfari on Wednesday and saw a major emergency response including air ambulances and the NPAS (National Police Air Service) sent to the scene.
Yesterday evening (Thursday) a North Wales Police statement said: "Officers are renewing their appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious collision in Bodfari, Denbighshire last night (Wednesday, April 23rd) which resulted in seven people – including two children, being taken to hospital.
"Police were called at 19:40hrs following a report of a collision involving three vehicles – a silver Mercedes A200, an Audi Q3 and a silver BMW 118.
"The emergency services attended the scene – including the Air Ambulance, NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopter and the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit."
Police said yesterday as a result of the collision:
• A 12-year-old girl remains in hospital with life threatening injuries
• A 13-year-old girl remains in hospital with serious injuries. Both girls were passengers in the Audi Q3
• The female driver of the Audi remains in Aintree Hospital with serious, life-changing injuries
• The female passenger from the Audi remains in hospital in Stoke with serious, life-changing injuries
• The male driver of the Mercedes remains at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious, life-changing injuries
• The 20-year-old driver of the BMW, who was initially taken to hospital with slight injuries, was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation
• The male passenger of the Mercedes, who was also arrested, was later taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he remains with serious injuries
Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'Our thoughts remain with all who are in hospital, and I would like to stress that the investigation to find out what happened is now underway.
'We'd like to thank all those who have already contacted us, however we continue to urge anybody who may have information that could assist with our investigation to come forward.
'This includes anybody who may have been travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage showing the silver BMW 118 and Silver Mercedes being driven prior to the collision.
'I would like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience whilst the road was closed to allow our officers and staff to carry out their initial enquiries.
'And I would like to remind the public that our teams are undertaking a careful and thorough investigation, and as arrests have been made, I would urge the public not to speculate or make any comments on social media that may prejudice any future potential legal proceedings.'

Shoresh Mhmood faces 10 months in prison if £86,927 isn't handed over in three months. Mhmood's co-defendant in the illegal operation, Aran Baker, has been ordered to pay £630. Swansea Crown Court has previously heard that officers from Carmarthenshire Council carried out a series of test purchases at the Groszek shop on Cowell Street in Llanelli town centre during 2021 and 2022 during which illicit cigarettes were bought. Searches were then carried out at the home addresses of the directors of the business, 35-year-old Mhmood and 48-year-old Baker. The court heard 9,500 counterfeit cigarettes including brands such as Mayfair, some 170 pouches of tobacco, and a safe containing £32,699 in cash were found in Mhmood's house while 89,000 counterfeit cigarettes were found at Baker's home. Shoresh Salih Mhmood, of Dillwyn Street, Llanelli, was sentenced to 42 months in prison and Aran Baker, of Penciliogi, Llanelli, to 51 months in prison for engaging in fraudulent business practices. Dumbarton cocaine dealer caught trying to evade police
Charles Caldwell, of Castlegreen Street, Dumbarton, admitted being concerned in the supply of the class A drug when police stopped him last year. The Crown accepted the 32-year-old was not guilty of possession of cannabis, and two charges of having THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Paisley Sheriff Court heard on June 6 how on January 18, 2024, police were on plain-clothes patrol in the Renfrewshire area when they saw a black BMW. They followed the vehicle to outside Hillington where it changed lanes on numerous occasions. Police believed the driver was using "counter surveillance techniques", the court was told. Once pulled over, officers detected a strong smell of cannabis. They informed the driver and passenger they would be searched for drugs. On Caldwell, they found a knotted bag in his jacket and more in his underwear. It all tested positive for cocaine. There were dozens of subdivided deals in the driver's side door pocket - in total 77 knotted wraps. Analysis found the potential value of all the drugs if subdivided would be £6,190. They concluded that would be "excessive" for personal use. Sheriff Andrew Berry deferred sentence until July 14 for reports to be prepared.

Rapper Silento sentenced to 30 years for shooting cousin to death
The 27-year-old, known for his hit song, Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae), pleaded guilty but mentally ill on Wednesday to voluntary manslaughter and other charges in the shooting of his 34-year-old cousin. Silento, whose legal name is Ricky Lamar Hawk, was sentenced to 30 years in prison, DeKalb County district attorney Sherry Boston said in a statement. Hawk also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, possessing a gun while committing a crime and concealing the death of another. A murder charge was dropped as part of the plea agreement. DeKalb County police found Frederick Rooks III shot in the leg and face in the early morning hours of January 21 2021 outside a home in a suburban area near Decatur. Police said they found 10 bullet casings near Mr Rooks' body, and security video from a nearby home showed a white BMW SUV speeding away shortly after the gunshots. A family member of Mr Rooks told police that Silento had picked up his cousin in a white BMW SUV, and GPS data and other cameras put the vehicle at the site of the shooting. Silento confessed about 10 days later after he was arrested, police said. Ballistics testing matched the bullet casings to a gun that Silento had when he was arrested, authorities said. Mr Rooks' brothers and sisters told DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney L Johnson before sentencing that Silento should have received a longer sentence, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The rapper was a high school junior in suburban Atlanta in 2015 when he released Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) and watched it skyrocket into a dance craze. Silento made multiple other albums, but said in an interview with the medical talk show, The Doctors, in 2019, that he struggled with depression and had grown up in a family where he witnessed mental illness and violence. 'I've been fighting demons my whole life, my whole life,' he said in 2019. 'Depression doesn't leave you when you become famous, it just adds more pressure,' Silento said then, urging others to get help. 'And while everybody's looking at you, they're also judging you.' 'I don't know if I can truly be happy, I don't know if these demons will ever go away.' Silento had been struggling in the months before the arrest. His publicist, Chanel Hudson, has said he had tried to kill himself in 2020. In August 2020, Silento was arrested in Santa Ana, California, on a domestic violence charge. The next day, the Los Angeles Police Department charged him with assault with a deadly weapon after witnesses said he entered a home where he did not know anyone looking for his girlfriend and swung a hatchet at two people before he was disarmed. In October 2020, Silento was arrested after police said they clocked him driving at 143 miles per hour on Interstate 85 in DeKalb County. Ms Hudson said at the time of Silento's arrest in the killing of Mr Rooks that he had been 'suffering immensely from a series of mental health illnesses'.
