Man airlifted to hospital after three-vehicle crash on Isle of Skye
A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the Isle of Skye. Emergency services were called to the A863 Dunvegan to Sligachan road at about 5.40pm on Wednesday. The three-vehicle crash took place near the village of Struan on the west coast of the island. It involved a blue BMW 118, a silver Nissan Navara pick-up and a grey Man TGE van. The 64-year-old male driver of the pick-up was taken by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow. His injuries have been described as serious but not life-threatening. The road was closed while inquiries were carried out and reopened at about 8pm. Police Constable Taylor said: 'Our inquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this crash and I would appeal to any witnesses to please contact police. 'In addition, drivers with dash-cam footage around the time of the incident are asked to come forward as this may assist with our inquiries.' Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 2898 of May 14.

A pick-up truck driver has been airlifted to hospital after a crash involving a van and a BMW on the Isle of Skye. BMW's entry-level model is well-equipped to take on the hatch market
What is it? The BMW 118 is the brand's entry-level hatch. For decades BMW called it the 118i, with i for fuel-injection (even when all its cars were fuel-injected). With this fourth generation, the i has finally been dropped; BMW instead now uses i as a prefix not suffix, denoting an electric car. What does it cost? It is $56,500 plus on-road costs. The good news though is it is no longer the 'stripper' model of yore, but fitted with copious comfort and convenience equipment. That said, there was still a $5000 option pack added to our car (including glass roof, upgraded sound etc).

12-year-old girl battles for life and three with 'life changing injuries' after crash
Police have renewed appeals for witnesses, after a serious crash in Denbighshire left seven in hospital. They included a 12-year-old girl with "life threatening injuries", a 13-year-old girl with "serious injuries" and three others with "serious life changing injuries". The collision happened in Bodfari on Wednesday and saw a major emergency response including air ambulances and the NPAS (National Police Air Service) sent to the scene. Yesterday evening (Thursday) a North Wales Police statement said: "Officers are renewing their appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage following a serious collision in Bodfari, Denbighshire last night (Wednesday, April 23rd) which resulted in seven people – including two children, being taken to hospital. "Police were called at 19:40hrs following a report of a collision involving three vehicles – a silver Mercedes A200, an Audi Q3 and a silver BMW 118. "The emergency services attended the scene – including the Air Ambulance, NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopter and the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit." Police said yesterday as a result of the collision: • A 12-year-old girl remains in hospital with life threatening injuries • A 13-year-old girl remains in hospital with serious injuries. Both girls were passengers in the Audi Q3 • The female driver of the Audi remains in Aintree Hospital with serious, life-changing injuries • The female passenger from the Audi remains in hospital in Stoke with serious, life-changing injuries • The male driver of the Mercedes remains at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious, life-changing injuries • The 20-year-old driver of the BMW, who was initially taken to hospital with slight injuries, was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving. He has since been released under investigation • The male passenger of the Mercedes, who was also arrested, was later taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd where he remains with serious injuries Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'Our thoughts remain with all who are in hospital, and I would like to stress that the investigation to find out what happened is now underway. 'We'd like to thank all those who have already contacted us, however we continue to urge anybody who may have information that could assist with our investigation to come forward. 'This includes anybody who may have been travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage showing the silver BMW 118 and Silver Mercedes being driven prior to the collision. 'I would like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience whilst the road was closed to allow our officers and staff to carry out their initial enquiries. 'And I would like to remind the public that our teams are undertaking a careful and thorough investigation, and as arrests have been made, I would urge the public not to speculate or make any comments on social media that may prejudice any future potential legal proceedings.' Girl, 12, is fighting for her life after firey three-car crash injured seven: Man, 20, and passenger arrested over smash
A 12-year-old girl has been hospitalised with life threatening injuries after she was involved in a 'horrendous' three-car pile-up. Another girl, 13, was also airlifted to a hospital in North Wales after the horror crash, alongside five others who similarly have serious or life-changing injuries. Police attended the smash in Bodfari, Denbighshire yesterday evening which saw one of the cars go up in flames. A young man, 20, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving after he was taken to hospital with slight injuries. The BMW driver has since been released under investigation. A second man was arrested, who was the passenger in a Mercedes, and remains in hospital with serious injuries. The driver of his car remains at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd with serious, life-changing injuries. The two girls were in the same car - an Audi Q3 - with a female driver and female passenger who are in hospital with serious, life-changing injuries. It was reported that two people had to drag out a driver from one of the blazing cars that had become a 'ball of flames'. Tony Johnson told the BBC he heard a 'tremendous bang' from his home nearby before rushing to see the cars go up in flames 'within two minutes'. The heroic neighbour said he rescued a driver alongside another local by puling them from the flaming vehicle. He explained that the collision spot was a 'nasty blind bend' where a 40mph zone in the village changes to 60mph. Accidents have happened here before but never 'as bad as this one', he said. Scott Davidson, whose fence was crashed into by the car, said it was a 'horrendous' sight. He believed around 20 to 30 emergency service workers were treating the people involved in the accident. Detective Sergeant Katie Davies of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said their 'thoughts remain with all who are in hospital' while announcing an investigation into the pile-up. She urged anyone with information to come forward, while thanking those who already had.
