Rescue workers in Chile find the body of one of 5 miners trapped in a copper mine
BOGOTA: Rescue teams found a body inside a section of a Chilean copper mine that collapsed two days earlier during a moderate earthquake, the mine's director said Saturday.
Rescuers have been trying to reach five miners who were trapped Thursday evening in the El Teniente mine in central Chile as rocks collapsed around them during a 4.2 magnitude quake.
The copper mine is one of Chile's largest.
A spokesman for the rescue team that is trying to drill through 90 meters (295 feet) of rock to reach the miners said the body found on Saturday is one of the five miners who were trapped in the mine. El Teniente Director Andres Music said authorities were still trying to identify the body.
The body of another miner - not one of the five still trapped - identified as Paulo Marin Tapia was found Friday, shortly after the mine's partial collapse.
Nine other mine workers suffered injuries, said Chile's National Copper Corp., known as Codelco, describing the incident as a result of "a seismic event."

'Where is safety': Congress MP slams govt after chain snatched in Delhi's VIP zone
Member of Parliament from Tamil Nadu's Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha constituency, R Sudha, recounting her chain-snatching incident, alleged that there is no safety for women in this country. The incident reportedly happened when MP Sudha was out for her morning walk in the high-security area of Chanakyapuri.(X) She slammed the Delhi government, saying that the incident happened when a woman was serving as the Chief Minister of Delhi. Speaking to ANI after her gold chain was snatched in Chanakyapuri area of Delhi, she said, "I am still in shock. There is no safety for women in this country...I am thinking about the common women, where will they go?...A woman CM is ruling this state. Where is the safety and security? Had he slit my neck, I would have died on the spot." The incident reportedly happened when she was out for her routine morning walk in the high-security area of Chanakyapuri, where embassies of various countries are located. The Lok Sabha MP further said, "He pulled my chain and tore my clothes. I wanted to fix my clothes, and that is why I was not bothered about my chain. After snatching, he left immediately. R Sudha, a Member of Parliament from the Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu, has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying that her gold chain was snatched on Monday morning in the Chanakyapuri area of Delhi, according to a report by ANI. The parliamentarian has called on the Home Minister to instruct authorities to locate and arrest the offender. Sudha, who is currently in Delhi attending the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament, mentioned that she was on her usual morning walk when the incident occurred in a high-security area where embassies and different countries are situated. The Lok Sabha MP, in the letter addressed to Amit Shah informed that the incident took place between 6:15 am and 6:20 am when she and another MP, Rajathi from the Rajya Sabha, were walking near Gates 3 and 4 of the Polish embassy. "A man wearing a full helmet, riding a two-wheeler, approached them from the opposite direction and snatched my gold chain before fleeing the spot," the report quoted the Congress MP. "I have suffered injuries on my neck, and my churidhar also got torn in the impact," Sudha stated in her complaint. "Both of us cried for help, and later spotted a mobile patrol vehicle of the Delhi Police and lodged a complaint," she added. The MP, who is currently residing at Tamil Nadu House in the national capital, described the incident as deeply distressing and shocking, particularly considering the location, which is a high-security zone packed with embassies and government offices. "If a woman cannot walk safely in this high-priority zone in the national capital, where else can we feel safe and do our routine without fearing for our limbs, lives, and valuables?" Sudha said. She mentioned that her gold chain was worth more than four sovereigns and that the loss and injury caused her trauma. In her letter, she urged the Home Minister to instruct authorities to locate the accused through CCTV footage in the area. Delhi police have registered a case, and the probe is underway.
