Sneak Peek: Inside Gary's Future $35 Million YMCA Campus
A combination of public and private funding financed the $35 million project. The city of Gary and its partners contributed $10 million, Indiana's READI (Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative) grant added another $10 million, and the Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation committed $15 million. The foundation initially committed $10 million, but announced an additional $5 million on Wednesday to help fully execute the vision of the center.
The new facility will offer fitness programs, health care services through Methodist Hospital, and educational services through the Boys & Girls Club.
'The Tolleston Opportunity Hub isn't just a new beginning — it's a continuation of everything that this building has meant to me and to this community member who has walked through those doors,' said Marcus Steele Jr., program director of the Boys & Girls Club and a former club member.
Capital B Gary obtained conceptual renderings that offer a first glimpse of the facility as envisioned for its 2026 opening. While not final, the designs reflect input from local leaders and community members, showcasing the vision guiding the project's development.
Pool: The pool will be a traditional recreation pool offering water aerobics, water exercise classes, and swim classes for all ages — including children as young as 6 months. In addition, there will be a warm water therapy pool to help with muscle and injury therapy.
Basketball Court: The large recreational space will include an indoor track and a full-size basketball court. With several hoops suspended from the ceiling, the gym can be used in a variety of ways. Drop-down curtains will divide the space into three sections, making it possible to host multiple activities at once for different age groups and needs.
Parking/Entrance: The new YMCA entrance sign will face Taney Place instead of West 19th Avenue, creating different entrances for community members. The redesigned parking lot will include more spaces to better accommodate more guests.
Indoor:
High ceilings were taken into account in the design to maximize natural lighting, making the club look bright, open, and welcoming to those who use the facility.

Can Archer Aviation Become the Tesla of the Skies?
Tesla (TSLA) does not just make cars. It has reshaped our understanding of what cars can be. Archer Aviation (ACHR), valued at $5.5 billion, is developing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which are essentially air taxis intended for short-distance urban and regional travel. Archer Aviation stock has gained just 2.3% in the year to date, underperforming the S&P 500 Index ($SPX), despite its massive 167% gain over the past 52 weeks. For this under-the-radar aerospace company to become 'the Tesla of the skies,' it must do more than just make air taxis viable. It must also make them desirable and indispensable for daily travel. More News from Barchart Apple CEO Tim Cook Says the Technology They're Developing Will Be 'One of the Most Profound Technologies of Our Lifetime' Dear Tilray Stock Fans, Mark Your Calendars for September 21 Why SoundHound Could Be the Next AI Stock to Rocket Markets move fast. Keep up by reading our FREE midday Barchart Brief newsletter for exclusive charts, analysis, and headlines. Let us find out how Archer Aviation is working on this, and if the stock is a buy now. An Industry Moving From Ambition to Execution The eVTOL industry was once considered futuristic. But it is rapidly becoming a reality. Archer's flagship product is the Midnight aircraft. The company currently has six additional Midnight units in production, with three in final assembly, bringing the fleet to eight aircraft. These models have a production-ready four-bladed rear propeller design and are ready for certification flight testing or early commercial deployment. Archer is rapidly approaching the commercialization of its Midnight aircraft, signaling a critical period of progress in both civil and defense programs. In the second half of 2025, Archer intends to accelerate pilot and flight testing, expand performance parameters, and begin full eVTOL operations. Because the company has no revenue yet, it reported an adjusted EBITDA loss of $119 million and an adjusted net loss of $114 million in the second quarter. Perhaps the most notable achievement for Archer is the U.S. government's decision to showcase air taxis at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. It is the official exclusive air taxi provider for the event. Archer is not waiting for FAA approval to start monetizing Midnight. Through its Launch Edition Program, the company is delivering early aircraft to countries with more favorable regulatory environments, including the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. These partnerships not only diversify Archer's revenue streams, but also help to establish the business case for eVTOLs. In the UAE, the Midnight aircraft has already been delivered and is awaiting commercial flight authorization. This will help the company generate revenue. Analysts expect Archer to report revenue of $1.42 million in 2025, rising to $103.4 million by 2026. The Challenges Archer ended the second quarter with $1.7 billion in cash and cash equivalents, following a capital raise of $850 million in June. Despite strategic investments in manufacturing, certification, and defense programs, Archer maintained disciplined capital allocation. Furthermore, a growing multibillion-dollar order book from both government and commercial customers helps to strengthen the company's position. Early launch deals abroad offer significant revenue potential before the full U.S. rollout. Without a doubt, Archer is following Tesla's leadto dominance by controlling manufacturing, developing proprietary technology, and pursuing both consumer and government markets. However, the challenges to eVTOL adoption differ. Infrastructure development, public trust, air traffic integration, and safety certification are challenges that Tesla has never encountered in the automotive industry. If Archer can overcome these challenges, it will have established an industry with potentially fewer direct competitors than the crowded EV car market that Tesla is currently facing. What Is Wall Street Saying About Archer Aviation Stock? Recently, Canaccord Genuity analyst Austin Moeller reiterated his 'Buy' rating on Archer Aviation stock with a price target of $13, citing the company's strong production momentum and solid financial position. Moeller believes that by focusing on refining manufacturing processes and increasing efficiency, Archer is well-positioned to expand operations. Early revenue opportunities from Launch Edition customer evaluations strengthen Moeller's belief in the company's growth prospects. Separately, H.C. Wainwright analyst Amit Dayal reiterated his 'Buy' rating on the stock. Dayal stated that, in addition to its urban air mobility plans, Archer is expanding into the defense market through recent acquisitions and the development of a hybrid electric aircraft for long-range and military applications. With catalysts ahead, such as certification completion and the first passenger flights, Dayal believes the company is well-positioned to create meaningful value in the years to come. Overall, Archer Aviation stock is a 'Moderate Buy' on Wall Street. Among the 10 analysts covering the stock, five rate it a 'Strong Buy,' two say it is a 'Moderate Buy,' and three rate it a 'Hold.' The average target price of $12.39 is 25% above current levels. Plus, its Street-high estimate of $18 suggests the stock can rally around 82% over the next 12 months. The Bottom Line If Archer follows through on its promises, such as launching Olympic-scale air taxi operations, expanding its Launch Edition footprint, and entering defense markets, it has the potential to define the first generation of practical, profitable urban air mobility. If the company succeeds, flying cars will no longer be considered science fiction. Archer Aviation would have made this happen. Early investors who believe in the company's potential and are willing to take on the short-term risk may profit handsomely once it reaches its full potential. Buy Dillard's (DDS) Stock After Crushing Q2 EPS Expectations?
Reporting favorable Q2 results on Thursday, Dillard's DDS has remained a standout among regional department store that point, Dillard's was able to crush Q2 EPS expectations thanks to its operational efficiency, modest sales growth, and shareholder-friendly capital allocation. Furthermore, Dillard's emphasis on exclusive merchandise and private label brands in regard to fashion apparel and home furnishings has helped differentiate the large department store chain from its competitors, such as Macy's M and Kohl's KSS. Considering such, let's see if now is an ideal time to buy Dillard's stock, with DDS up a respectable +18% year to date to over $500 a share, and now sitting on gains of more than +40% over the last year. Dillard's Strong Q2 Results Reporting Q2 sales of $1.51 billion, Dillard's top line increased 2% from the prior year quarter and slightly edged estimates by 0.19%. This comes as Dillard's saw improved sales trends in July, particularly for adolescent apparel, ladies' accessories, and lingerie. Dillard's also maintained a strong digital presence and loyalty initiatives. Most impressive, Dillard's reported Q2 earnings of $4.66 per share, which crushed EPS expectations of $3.79 by nearly 23% and was up 1% from a year ago in what was a tough to compete against operating period. Notably, Dillard's received a $4.8 million pre-tax gain from the sale of three properties, which contributed $0.24 to its quarterly EPS and also boosted its per-share earnings by reducing its share count through stock buybacks. More intriguing, Dillard's has now exceeded the Zacks EPS Consensus in each of its last four quarterly reports with a very impressive average earnings surprise of 24.04%. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Dillard's Attractive Valuation While Dillard's doesn't provide formal guidance, the company's valuation is hard to overlook, even with its robust earnings expected to contract after hitting record peaks in recent years during the post-pandemic retail rebound. Trading at 16.3X forward earnings, DDS still trades at a noticeable discount to the benchmark S&P 500. It's also noteworthy that DDS is well below Kohl's 39X forward earnings multiple, and is enticingly closer to Macy's 7.1X, although Dillard's robust bottom line largely suggests it should trade at a significant premium to these peers. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research As a leader in the retail-regional department store space, Dillard's stock is also attractively beneath the optimum level of less than 2X sales, at 1.2X. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research DDS EPS Revisions Making Dillard's attractive valuation more enticing is that earnings estimate revisions for fiscal 2025 and FY26 are nicely up in the last 30 days. Over the last month, FY25 EPS estimates are up 2% from projections of $29.84 to $30.47. Plus, FY26 EPS estimates have spiked 9% from projections of $25.25 to $27.50. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research Bottom Line Following its favorable Q2 report, Dillard's stock currently boasts a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy). Considering the impressive Q2 earnings beat, EPS revisions may continue to rise for Dillard's in the coming weeks, and in addition to its strong buy rating, DDS checks an overall 'A' VGM Zacks Style Scores grade for the combination of Value, Growth, and Momentum. Innovative Food Holdings Inc (IVFH) Q2 2025 Earnings Call Highlights: Revenue Surge and ...
Release Date: August 13, 2025 For the complete transcript of the earnings call, please refer to the full earnings call transcript. Positive Points Innovative Food Holdings Inc (IVFH) reported a 26.9% increase in revenue for Q2 2025. The company is exiting its cheese conversion business and selling its Pennsylvania warehouse, which is expected to improve cash flow and margins. IVFH's airline catering business grew by 26.1% in Q2, indicating strong performance in this segment. The company launched an AI-driven catalog management platform to accelerate vendor onboarding and catalog growth. IVFH is expanding its business into new regional markets and participating in national food shows to increase visibility and growth opportunities. Negative Points The cheese conversion business was unprofitable and required significant resources, leading to its discontinuation. Gross margin decreased by 294 basis points year over year, primarily due to the cheese conversion business. Selling, general, and administrative expenses increased due to higher payroll and office expenses. The digital channels business saw a 4.9% decline, although this was an improvement from a 6.8% decline in Q1. The company has deferred its name change and uplisting initiatives to focus on operational execution and integration efforts. Q & A Highlights Warning! GuruFocus has detected 5 Warning Signs with IVFH. Q: Why did Innovative Food Holdings decide to exit the cheese conversion business so soon after starting it? A: Bill Bennett, CEO, explained that the decision was difficult but necessary. The cheese business was not reaching the scale needed to justify the expenses of the Pennsylvania facility. Tariff pressures and the departure of a tenant compounded the challenges. The company decided to wind down the cheese conversion and sell the facility to focus on more profitable ventures. Q: How will the closure of the Pennsylvania facility affect the company's core strategy in the Northeast corridor? A: Bill Bennett, CEO, stated that the closure will not negatively impact the core strategy. The airline catering business, which was based there, can operate from anywhere and is actually cheaper to ship from Chicago. The digital channels business, a primary growth driver, will remain unaffected. Q: Is Innovative Food Holdings considering further acquisitions to meet growth goals after the cheese divestiture? A: Bill Bennett, CEO, mentioned that the company is still evaluating the integration of recent acquisitions like Golden Organics and Loco. Depending on the synergies and goals achieved, there may be opportunities for further acquisitions. The focus remains on supporting the broader strategy of being a drop-ship company. Q: What are the expected financial impacts of selling the Pennsylvania facility? A: Gary Schubert, CFO, noted that the sale will eliminate approximately $9 million in debt, significantly strengthening the balance sheet. The company expects some tax impacts, but these will be largely offset by net operating losses from previous years. The sale will also reduce interest expenses and improve cash flow. Q: Can you provide more details on the new AI-driven catalog management platform? A: Bill Bennett, CEO, explained that the platform is in a soft launch phase, allowing vendors to interact more efficiently. The focus is on accelerating item setup, which has already improved significantly. The platform aims to streamline processes and drive business outcomes, with ongoing development to enhance automation and efficiency.
