France edge rivals in thriller to win SailGP Germany
In a gripping finale that came down to the final metres, France kept their composure to edge out Australia and Britain, who finished second and third respectively.
The French combined bold tactics with precision, sustaining their foiling speed while their opponents struggled to keep pace in Sail GP's thrilling fifth season.
"It's an amazing feeling," said Delapierre, who picked up his first event win since the third season.
"It's been a while since we won a Grand Prix - it's a super nice feeling. It was super shifty out there but we just enjoyed it.
"It was super good fun; a good game playing with the shifts and the pressure. It will be a good memory."
Flawless execution proved decisive as the race boiled down to who could stay on the foils, with France crossing first to lift the SailGP Germany title.
Dylan Fletcher's Britain crew were forced out of race four in Sassnitz on Saturday after a collision with the U.S. team but returned to the start line following overnight repairs.
Brazil missed the race after Friday's collision with France , which sent Delapierre to hospital for checks and disrupted their preparations for the Grand Prix.
Australia lead the overall championship table level on 61 points with New Zealand. Britain are third with 58 points.
The next round is in Saint-Tropez from September 12-13.

But Matheus Cunha has already showed, even when failing to find the net as United slumped to another home loss against Arsenal, that it is his unhinged and unpredictable temperament that he is exactly what United need right now. In many ways it was same old United on Sunday. Amorim suffered his 15th defeat in what was his 28th Premier League game as United manager – this is the fastest a manager has reached 15 defeats in the competition, without taking charge of a newly promoted team in that period, since Paul Hart with Portsmouth in 2009. Conceding first and being unable to muster even a suggestion of a response plagued last season's year to forget. United have now fallen 1-0 behind in more league home games than any other ever-present side since the start of last season. Shipping goals from goalkeepers errors or corners remains a staple around these parts, too. Cunha didn't adhere to the well-trodden meek surrender script, however. Every time the Brazilian was on the half turn, he only had one thing in mind. Alejandro Garnacho does it on occasion, when not sulking, Amad Diallo is capable of leaving supporters gasping for air, while peak Marcus Rashford had defenders dazed and confused with regularity. One of the many gaps in the rusting United armour under Amorim has been the lack of someone willing to take the attack to their opponents on enough occasions to make a real difference. With confidence severely lacking, defenders have all too often left Old Trafford having not been on the back foot once all match. Cunha bucked that trend on debut. Four shots and four successful dribbles deserved a goal. Bryan Mbeumo's intent warranted more, too. Anything but overawed fronting this new-look United forward line, Cunha's energy and inability to go into any duel at less than full throttle is the grab-by-the-scruff-of-the-neck everyone needed, even if the result told a different story. In contrast, Arsenal's frontline did not muster a single attack of note all match in the glorious Old Trafford sunshine. They will take victory at a rejuvenated Manchester United, however it comes. But Mikel Arteta, having seen Manchester City and Liverpool plunder four goals each in a swashbuckling manner that few teams will be able to cope with, will head back south with major concerns. None more so than Viktor Gyokeres. Twenty-one touches, nine passes, zero shots before being hauled off. Plenty have had worse starts, but the early signs are not great. Cunha sprung to United's attention at the beginning of the 2023-24 campaign, as he rampaged around Old Trafford like a rockstar on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. United's beleaguered backline had no answer to the velocity of the performance back then and senior figures never forgot what they saw. His all-action showing against Arsenal didn't quite reach the same decibels, but those occasions when he drove right into the heart of one of the best defences in world football ensured many in the Stretford End are beginning to identify a new cult hero. 'It is our feeling that we play better,' Amorim said. 'In the end we lose the game, but I'm really proud of the effort they put in the game. We proved today that we can win any game in the Premier League, we were the better team.' And that increased optimism was down to the performance of one man. Whether through the middle or from out wide, Cunha's power, poise and guile are clearly what the doctor ordered. Even in defeat, United's performance on Sunday gave life to pre-season optimistic hopes that there is something in the works around M16. We might not see the fruits of what Amorim is trying to do for a while, but Old Trafford has not borne witness to such attacking intent, even when remaining scoreless, for some time. And that cannot be overlooked. Any red revolution needs a figurehead. And it appears, even among a packed field of fresh-faced, expensive forwards, Cunha is right at home leading the charge.

Referees have been given public speaking lessons ahead of the new season – and the arrival of explanations to the crowd at Premier League matches. Inside Sport understands a number of broadcasters have been brought in by refs' body PGMOL to train officials on how to speak with clarity in high-pressure environments and in front of big audiences. Premier League refs will now make in-stadium announcements following VAR decisions aside from offsides, given there is little need for explanation. The move is the latest from PGMOL, and another common-sense step under boss Howard Webb. Controversial deadline set to stay UEFA's March 1 deadline – which eventually played a key role in Crystal Palace 's demotion from the Europa League – would appear to be here to stay. The Eagles now infamously failed to submit the necessary documentation which would have seen them comply with UEFA's rules on multi-club ownership by the cut-off point, which was brought forward from June. Former Bees chairman passes away Dan Tana who, among (many) other things, was once the Brentford chairman, has passed away at the age of 90. A sometimes actor, former footballer and ex maitre d', he opened Dan Tana's restaurant in West Hollywood in 1964, which would go on to become a Los Angeles institution and regular haunt for some of film's biggest names. Tana was born in Yugoslavia and played in his homeland, Germany and Canada before helping to form the first professional league in the United States. He invested at Griffin Park in 1973, at time when the Bees where bottom of the Fourth Division. Tana, who became a well-known figure within the game, remained on the board until 2002. Olympics bosses back member Olympics bosses have launched a staunch defence of a senior IOC member accused of multiple conflicts of interest. Singapore's Ser Miang Ng, 76, found himself at the centre of an expose by The Inquisitor, which centred around his links to the esports industry, Saudi Arabia and Olympic federations and suggested corruption may be at play. Ng is chairman of the Olympics Esports Games Steering Committee which decided to host the first Esports Games in 2027 in Riyadh. However, in a message to members of no less than 677 words, the IOC's 'chief ethics and compliance officer' Giuseppe Deleonardis claimed Ng had 'acted in full conformity with the Olympic Charter, and there is no evidence to prove the contrary'. He added: 'Mr Ng has the full confidence of the IOC to further develop the Olympic Esports Games project.' With a complaint lodged in June and a London-based law firm involved, this may not be the end of the matter.

A Nottingham Forest coach needed stitches in his head after celebrating Chris Wood's opener against Brentford. The striker took just five minutes to get off the mark for the season, sending the City Ground into raptures. 1 But coach Rui Barbosa was a little too enthusiastic with his celebrations and he hit his head on the dugout. The knock caused a wound in his head and Barbosa required six stitches. The goalkeeper coach was patched up by the medical staff with Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo revealing he felt dizzy. He said: "He has six stitches! It was a nasty one. A bad one. He was dizzy." Forest ran out 3-1 winners against the Bees with Chris Wood scoring twice. He was joined on the scoresheet by debutant Dan Ndoye, leaving Nuno a happy manager. The Portuguese boss added: 'I am delighted. The way we started the game was amazing. 'We played good, we dominated, we controlled … the goal in the first five minutes settled the team and the energy of the stadium. 'With the exception of a moment before the third goal, we did not allow Brentford too many things.'
