USC legend Tony Boselli lands NFL executive job Tony Boselli tries to make a difference with the Jaguars as their new VP of football operations
On Monday, the Jacksonville Jaguars officially announced their new Executive Vice President of Football Operations. It was a name that is quite familiar to USC football fans: Tony Boselli, the greatest player in Jaguars franchise history.
Boselli starred at USC in the early 1990s. He was a two-time All-American, and won the Morris Trophy as the Pac-10's top offensive lineman in 1994.
The Jaguars selected Boselli with the second overall pick in the 1995 NFL draft, becoming Jacksonville's first ever draft selection as an expansion franchise. Although he played just seven seasons in the league, Boselli established himself as one of the most dominant offensive linemen in the NFL during that time, making five Pro Bowls and earning three first-team All-Pro honors. He is a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame.
Now, Boselli returns to the team that he began his professional career with three decades ago.
"Few people have better relationships throughout the NFL, know the game, and understand the value of strong team identity and culture as well as Tony Boselli," Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement. "Tony has a wealth of football acumen that we respect and need, and his counsel will be tremendously valuable to me and our football leadership team during this current rebirth and for many seasons to come."
Boselli will work with new head coach Liam Coen, who is seen as one of the top young offensive minds in the sport. Coen previously served as the offensive coordinator for both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and at the University of Kentucky.

Browns Expected to Cut Ties With $14 Million Quarterback
Browns Expected to Cut Ties With $14 Million Quarterback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The next step in the preseason for the Cleveland Browns is training camp, which begins between July 18-22 based on player designation. A few weeks after that, at least one of the team's four active quarterbacks is going to be unemployed or playing elsewhere. Advertisement Precisely who that will be is a matter of debate. ESPN's Peter Schrager predicted earlier this week on "The Pat McAfee Show" that it would be one of the two veterans, Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett, and he leaned toward the latter. However, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently noted on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" that Shedeur Sanders, who by all accounts remained QB4 following mandatory minicamp this month, is currently fighting more for a job than he is battling for the starting job. Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12).Ken Blaze-Imagn Images As such, his recent citations for traveling 26 mph and 41 mph over the speed limit -- including clocking 101 mph in a 60 mph zone -- are potentially a bigger deal to the Browns front office than they might be if he was the No. 1 overall pick like Cam Ward in Tennessee. Advertisement That could open the door for Sanders to get cut or traded if he doesn't handle this scenario well in the aftermath and/or struggles mightily in training camp. But it was Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network who appeared on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Friday and predicted that either Sanders or Dillon Gabriel will ultimately start for Cleveland in Week 1 and that Pickett, a former first-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL draft, will be released or traded come late August. "Talent-wise, I think both those guys have a huge advantage over Kenny Pickett," Jeremiah said. "Pickett has to be light years better than each of them to make the team. To me, I think Joe Flacco is just in case they don't feel like they can be competent at the position, then you insert Joe. I think their Week 1 starter is going to be one of those two rookies." Advertisement The Browns traded for Pickett earlier this offseason, sending a fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in return. Pickett is entering the final season of his four-year, $14 million rookie contract in 2025. Report: Shedeur Sanders Pulled Over By Police Tuesday Morning
Report: Shedeur Sanders Pulled Over By Police Tuesday Morning originally appeared on The Spun. Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback, was reportedly pulled over by police on Tuesday morning. Advertisement Sanders, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was reportedly pulled over for allegedly driving faster than 100 MPH. The former Colorado Buffaloes and Jackson State quarterback was pulled over shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning. He was allegedly driving 101 MPH, more than 40 MPH faster than the speed limit. The rookie quarterback was reportedly stopped on 71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17, according to FOX 8 in Cleveland. He was issued a citation and he can fight the ticket in court. Shedeur Sanders was speeding, according to According to FOX 8 in Ohio, speeding has become a major issue in the state. More than 3,000 people were pulled over for driving faster than 100 MPH last year. More than 83,000 people were pulled over for driving 20 MPH faster than the speed limit. Advertisement The Ohio Traffic Safety Office sent a clear warning: 'There is no excuse for extreme speeds.' The Cleveland Browns have yet to comment on Sanders getting pulled over. The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has made it clear that he wants to put his head down and get to work. Shedeur Sanders has been praised by teammates for staying after practice to get extra work in. ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager recently praised Sanders based on what he had heard from those inside of the Cleveland Browns facility. "I've heard he was outstanding in the building," Schrager said about Sanders in a Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Advertisement Getting pulled over by the police for driving 100 MPH doesn't negate any of that, but it's not a good thing, either. NFL teams don't want to have to deal with off-the-field issues, especially with players that are borderline in terms of making the roster. It'll be interesting to see if this impacts Sanders' chances of making the browns.
