Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, CL, Alan Walker and more to perform at Singapore Grand Prix
[SINGAPORE] American rock bands Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins, as well as Norwegian DJ-producer Alan Walker and South Korean rapper-singer CL, have been added as headlining music acts at the Formula One (F1) Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix (Singapore GP) 2025.
Foo Fighters and Walker will perform on Oct 4 at the Padang Stage in Zone 4, while CL will perform on the first night, Oct 3, on the same stage.
They join the other Padang acts announced earlier: K-pop star G-Dragon on Oct 3 and British music icon Elton John, who is the race weekend's closing act, on Oct 5.
Acts performing at the Wharf Stage at Zone 1 include Australian and New Zealand rock band Crowded House on Oct 4 and Smashing Pumpkins and English indie rock band The Wombats on Oct 5.
The performers at the Downtown Stage in Zone 4 will be Japanese girl group Babymetal, English indie rock band The Lathums and London-based singer-songwriter Tom Grennan on Oct 4, South Korean DJ Hanna on Oct 5, and Singapore-based band Oake on Oct 3. Hanna will also perform at the Sunset Stage in Zone 1 on Oct 4.
Other acts include Indonesian pop singer-songwriter Putri Ariani and New York-based collective Indo Warehouse at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre in Zone 4, and Mexico-based DJ duo Le Twins at a venue to be announced.

The F1 shows, which take place at several venues across the Marina Bay Street Circuit, have been some of the biggest concerts held in Singapore. The Padang Stage, in previous years, saw crowds of around 60,000.
Grammy winners Foo Fighters, led by frontman Dave Grohl, last performed in Singapore at the National Stadium in 2017, and also did a show at the now-defunct Harbour Pavilion in 1996. Walker was last in town for a gig at the Singapore Expo in 2024. CL, the leader of girl group 2NE1, last performed here at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with her fellow members in 2024.
According to Singapore GP, ticket sales have been 'phenomenal', with only a limited number remaining across selected general and hospitality categories. Prices start at $148 for a Friday Zone 4 Walkabout ticket.
All tickets grant access to the performances in Zone 4, which include those held at the Padang Stage and Downtown Stage. Shows at the Wharf Stage and Sunset Stage require Zone 1 tickets. THE STRAITS TIMES

Trump did not attend events at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts during his first term, but has taken a keen interest in it during his second. Deriding it on social media for putting on "Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth," he pushed out its former chairman, fired its longtime president and pledged to overhaul an institution he described as being in tremendous disrepair. The fallout has been swift. The musical "Hamilton" canceled plans to appear there, staff left and sales of subscriptions and individual tickets for Kennedy Center shows have dropped, according to two people briefed on the data. Overall subscription revenue was down 36% to $2.8 million as of early June for next season, which begins in the autumn, according to one source. Theater subscriptions, normally a major revenue driver for the center, were down 82%. A Kennedy Center spokeswoman declined to comment about the facility's sales. The center depends on revenue from tickets and subscriptions as well as donations to operate. Supportive donors will be present, but tickets for the musical were available for purchase by the public as well, along with regular subscribers. The night is sold out. Trump's appearance is meant to juice fundraising. Donors who pay $100,000 to $2 million get to attend a reception before the show, receive a photo with the president and be seated in good locations in the theater. Vance is expected to attend as well. The Kennedy Center is turning the event into one on par with its signature shows, including the Kennedy Center Honors, featuring a red carpet for high-profile guests with reporters and photographers in place. Under the leadership of Ric Grenell, a close Trump ally and former ambassador to Germany, the Kennedy Center has sought to add more conservative-leaning programming, including a show that Grenell has described as a celebration of the birth of Christ. Meanwhile, while Trump zeroed in on drag shows when he said the Kennedy Center had lost its way, multiple upcoming musicals include characters dressed in drag, such as "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Chicago." He is residing in the Eco Botanic township with his Malaysian wife Celine Chen, who is in her mid-30s, and their two daughters. Aged nine and seven, the children are enrolled in an international school. In the June 6 episode of Call Us Daddy, Singapore-based Chinese-American actor-host Allan Wu's podcast, the 46-year-old star opened up about the rationale behind the relocation. Chen, who is a Singapore permanent resident, said: 'I think the main reason is because we are both Malaysians. Secondly, we can save on costs – about 30 to 50 per cent. Thirdly, in JB, we can afford to live in a bigger and more comfortable home.' He added: 'My work has not changed. I am still a Mediacorp artiste. I'm still filming. And I can just travel (to Singapore) whenever I have work. Like today, I drove in to Singapore for work. Whenever it's needed, I make the commute to and fro.' He is also grateful that the 'the traffic situation now is much better than before'. 'When we film until the wee hours and are so tired, the thought of seeing our children and our family makes it not tiring any more. I try to think of it that way. When you go to Malaysia and learn how to be more aware of your surroundings, no matter where you travel to, you will naturally be more alert. This also helps your children to be more alert as well.' Chen also explained that moving across the Causeway was a 'natural and logical' choice, given how the couple have extended family in Malaysia and none in Singapore After making his acting debut in 2003 in television series like True Heroes (2003) and Holland V (2003), his breakthrough came in 2015, when he snagged Best Actor for his role in The Journey: Tumultuous Times (2014) at the annual Star Awards. The show, which premiered on May 16, features an international line-up of professional singers, including Chen Chusheng from China, Beni from Japan and Mickey Guyton from the US. Three winners will be named at the end of the season. Singer 2025 was formerly known as I Am A Singer, which premiered in 2013 and was renamed in 2017. This is the 10th season of the show, and voting results are determined by both in-person audience members as well as internet users. Fan, better known by her stage name FanFan, was brought in to replace Taiwanese singer Terry Lin, 58, who was eliminated after the fourth episode, which aired on June 6. Fan came in last among eight singers, ranking below those from China, such as Ma Jiaqi, Shan Yichun and Gai. Fan, 49, sang her hit track The First Dream (2004), but was off-key and suffered from shaky vocals. She reportedly cried as soon as she got off the stage. Netizens compared her performance to a 'car accident scene', with viewers adding she was not confident and appeared nervous. In an Instagram post on June 7, Fan said she was thankful and satisfied to have participated in Singer 2025. She expressed her disappointment openly, writing that 'it has been many years since I have participated in the recording of such shows, and I am upset with my subpar performance'. 'I have failed to meet the expectations of viewers, and I am deeply sorry for that.' However, the singer r emains positive, saying that one need not excel every day, and that life will turn out fine as long as one bravely works towards accomplishing his or her dreams. She also wrapped up her caption by thanking the show's crew, as well as her colleagues, friends, family members and the team behind Singer 2025 who cheered her on. Fan's latest album, Solitary Moment, was released in 2022. Since her music debut in 2000, she has staged several concert tours, with the most recent being her On Road To Happiness world tour (2017 to 2019), during which she made stops in cities like Taipei, Los Angeles and Singapore. She is married to Taiwanese television host Blackie Chen, 48, and the couple have nine-year-old twin sons. Chen was embroiled in Taiwan's #MeToo scandal in 2023, after being accused by Taiwanese actress Tina Chou for a sexual harassment incident that took place in 2012. Chen and Fan have denied the allegations. In 2023, the couple filed a NT$10 million (S$430,000) lawsuit against Chou to 'restore the reputation of the parties concerned', bu t ended up dropping it.
