A roar across Melbourne
By Tom Decent
I can officially report Melbourne has Lions fever.
I have been at a watering hole around the corner from the MCG and the atmosphere is unbelievable.
I have covered rugby in about 10 countries and am struggling to recall such a great vibe before a Test.
The walk to the ground is a sea of red with a bit of gold.
No rain at the moment, which was contrary to the forecast.
'Lions, Lions, Lions' chants popping off everywhere. 90,000 plus at the MCG expected.
Imagine a Wallabies win. It would be massive.

How the Lions are lining up
This Lions team has got a major Irish feel to it with nine Irish players in the starting lineup, which would have been ten if centre Garry Ringrose hadn't selflessly reported concussion symptoms.
Another Irishman misses out, with second-rower Joe McCarthy injured, with Ollie Chessum coming in to partner captain Maro Itoje.
Like Schmidt, coach Andy Farrell has gone for a 6/2 split, trusting his son Owen to provide cover at 10 and 12, with Scotland's Blair Kinghorn able to play at fullback and wing with ease.
In the first Test, the halves Finn Russell and Jamison Gibson-Park dictated the game with ease. Let's see if they can replicate it at the MCG.

Who have you got tonight?

How the Wallabies are lining up
Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt has resisted the urge to tinker with his backline which remains unchanged from the first Test in Brisbane.
The pack is a different story. David Porecki comes in at hooker and Billy Pollard stays on the bench, with the Reds' Matt Faessler out of the squad.
The Wallabies faithful will be delighted to see the combined muscle of Rob Valetini and Will Skelton to help them break the Lions' stubborn and organised defence.
The Wallabies have gone for a 6/2 bench, to prepare for the wetter conditions in Melbourne, with Langi Gleeson and Angus Bell both providing ball carrying strength off the bench.

Good evening rugby fans
Good evening everyone to the second Test and quite possibly the biggest game of rugby the Wallabies have played in a decade.
It's Jonathan Drennan taking you through tonight's action, helped by a talented backline outside me ready to fire.
We have Roy Ward, who did an excellent piece on the state of rugby union in Victoria this week, alongside Tom 'diamonds' Decent and Iain 'the North Shore express' Payten. All three gents are in the MCG with the 90,000 fans expected in the iconic venue.
Last week, the Wallabies were brutally outmuscled by the Lions, but staggered back into the game late, before losing by eight points.
Many of the overseas press was deeply impressed with Australia and as ever, the Wallabies need to find a big performance to silence the detractors.
It's a huge ask to level the series, but not impossible it happened right here in Melbourne for the Wallabies in 2001 and 2013.
Kickoff is set for 8pm AEST and you can watch all the action on Nine and Stan Sport who also own this masthead.
But please also follow along as we bring you the main moments and reactions pre and post game.
We're in the hometown of Pete Samu and Rob Valetini, the stage is perfectly set, let's get into this.

Geelong Cats vs Essendon Bombers LIVE: Cats make late change as Martin goes out; Cameron chases goal ton against Dons

Chris Scott admits Jeremy Cameron's teammates had an extra eye out for him as the Geelong spearhead continued his pursuit of a rare century with six goals in an 88-point thumping of Port Adelaide. But the two-time premiership coach doesn't believe it has become an issue that is hurting the Cats, who pressed their case for a top-two spot in the dominant 23.15 (153) to 9.11 (65) victory at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday. It lifted fourth-placed Geelong (14-6) to within one win of top sides Adelaide and Collingwood, and two points shy of Brisbane, with three rounds left in the home-and-away campaign. Cameron, who kicked a career-best 11 goals against North Melbourne in round 20, had four goals to halftime against Port under close attention from Lachie Jones. The 32-year-old's tally stands at 75 for the year and he has another three games, plus finals, to become the first player since Hawthorn's Lance Franklin in 2008 to kick 100 in a season. 'Trying to put myself in that position, I'd be a bit enthused around the idea,' Scott said. 'My sense is that it's still so far off. Like, he's going to have to play a few finals, which is a long way from a guarantee for us. 'I think we're a better team when he has the ball but there is a line there where if we're choosing him over better options then we'd need to address it. 'I'm not seeing it too much, but they're clearly looking for him.' Cameron benefited multiple times when teammates handed off the ball from positions where they could have taken shots at goal themselves. 'There are certain positions on the ground where him snapping the ball on his left (foot) is a higher percentage than one of the best kicks in our team on their right,' Scott said. 'I'm happy for him to get the ball in that situation.' Max Holmes (35 disposals, two goals), Bailey Smith (30 touches, eight clearances) and Gryan Miers (30 disposals, one goal) also stood out for Geelong, who kicked 20 goals to Port's six after quarter-time. Irish tagger Oisin Mullin limited Port star Zak Butters to just 10 disposals and Cats substitute Jack Martin kicked four goals in a superb third-quarter cameo. The only concern for Geelong was Tom Stewart's high contact on Ollie Wines, which will be scrutinised by the AFL match review officer. Stewart jumped off the ground in an attempt to smother a Wines handpass and landed on his Power opponent. But Stewart's act did not appear malicious and he immediately showed concern for Wines, who was able to play out the game. Wines (32 disposals, eight clearances) and Travis Boak (24 touches, one goal) fought hard for Port, who lost captain Connor Rozee (illness) as a late withdrawal. Jase Burgoyne was subbed out with an ankle complaint, adding to the Power's injury woes, while Mitch Georgiades finished with three goals. 'All this considered, it wasn't totally unexpected that we'd battle our way through a game down here against Geelong,' Port coach Ken Hinkley said. 'It was a full-strength Geelong against clearly an undermanned team that we took out there. 'But I thought the boys hung in there as much as they possibly could for most parts of the game. 'Geelong had that dominant third quarter with nine goals and outside of that we weren't too far off probably what most people would've expected.'

Lions mentor Chris Fagan has no doubts Brisbane's head of football Danny Daly would succeed as an AFL senior coach

Lions premiership-winning mentor Chris Fagan has endorsed the coaching credentials of Brisbane's football manager Danny Daly, who has been linked with the vacant Melbourne job. Daly has recently been touted as Fagan's eventual successor at Brisbane, having long been considered an AFL senior coach-in-waiting during an extensive career that has included previous roles Collingwood, North Melbourne and Richmond. However, the Lions might have a fight on their hands to hold on to Daly, with his name being touted as a potential permanent replaced for sacked Demons coach Simon Goodwin. 'I know we wouldn't like to lose him, that's for sure, but if it was for something like that, I'd be chairing him out of the place and saying `good luck and go well',' Fagan said on Friday. 'He's been a fantastic help to me from the day I arrived here at this football club, and we're like brothers I reckon. 'We talk a lot about football, and I know he's got that capacity inside him to (be an AFL senior coach) if that's what he wants to do. 'That's completely up to Danny, and others who make those sorts of decisions.' Daly replaced David Noble as Brisbane's head of football in November 2020 having previously been the Lions' strategy coach. Noble left Brisbane to become North Melbourne's senior coach, a position he held until July 2022 when he was sacked by the Kangaroos after 38 games at the helm.
