Gov't takes ‘whole of government' approach to 3R issues
KUALA LUMPUR: The government is taking proactive measures to address issues related to religion, race and royalty (3R) by implementing a comprehensive 'whole of government' approach involving cooperation among various ministries and agencies.
National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang said the approach comprises two main segments, namely the Enforcement Segment (Punitive Approach) and the Intervention, Mediation and Awareness Segment (Reformative Approach).
Aaron said that under the Enforcement Segment, enforcement agencies will take legal action against any party inciting 3R issues.
'Among the ministries and agencies involved are the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Ministry of Communications and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
'Investigations are carried out by the authorities, and action is only taken after due consideration by the Attorney General's Chambers,' he said in a Facebook post today.
As for the Intervention, Mediation and Awareness Segment, Aaron said the focus is on preventing conflict from the grassroots level.
He said the National Unity Ministry plays a key role through the implementation of high-impact initiatives such as monitoring sensitive issues, appointing community mediators, establishing Community Mediation Centres, and participating in the National Unity Advisory Council, Harmony Committee (JK HARMONI), MExUnity, and the Unity Issues Management Committee.
Aaron said various unity programmes and campaigns are also being carried out to raise public awareness on the importance of national harmony.
'These measures reflect the government's commitment not only in taking firm action against those involved in 3R issues but also in strengthening education, awareness, and the rebuilding of social ties to ensure national unity is preserved,' he said.

Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin KUALA LUMPUR (June 8): No official travel restrictions have been imposed on activist and graphic artist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said. He said Fahmi Reza's name was included in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) movement monitoring list for internal record and reference purposes due to ongoing investigations involving him. 'However, it must be emphasised that this list does not imply any restrictions but is part of the standard monitoring procedures implemented by the authorities,' he said in a statement today. Razarudin said the confusion occurred during the exit clearance process yesterday, resulting in the erroneous issuance of a movement restriction order, adding that the matter is being reviewed with appropriate steps to be taken to refine existing procedures. 'PDRM remains committed to protecting and respecting the freedom of movement of every Malaysian, and the individual concerned is free to travel in and out of the country as usual, subject to any regulations set by the Immigration Department and other relevant laws,' he said. Acoording to media reports yesterday, Fahmi Reza had claimed he was barred from travelling overseas after being blacklisted from entering Sabah recently. In a Facebook post, Fahmi Reza said he only learned of the matter after being informed by an immigration officer while at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to depart for Singapore.

IGP: No official travel restriction on Fahmi Reza despite immigration confusion; name only on monitoring list
KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Police today denied issuing a travel ban against activist Mohd Fahmi Reza Mohd Zarin, better known as Fahmi Reza, following claims he was prevented from leaving the country. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said Fahmi's name had only been placed on a movement monitoring list as part of an ongoing investigation. 'There is no official travel restriction imposed on Fahmi Reza at this time,' he said in a statement. He explained that the monitoring list is used for internal reference and does not equate to an actual travel ban. 'There was confusion during an immigration check at an exit point on June 7, 2025, which resulted in an incorrect instruction being issued,' he added. Police are reviewing the incident and will take appropriate steps to improve existing procedures. Razarudin said the Royal Malaysia Police remain committed to upholding Malaysians' right to freedom of movement. He said Fahmi is free to travel in and out of the country as usual, subject to any relevant regulations set by the Immigration Department or applicable laws.

Aidiladha calls for reflection on sacrifice and unity
KUALA LUMPUR: The Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration should serve as a moment of heartfelt reflection on the meaning of sacrifice in the context of humanity and unity, said National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang. He said the celebration is not just about the ritual of sacrifice, but also a symbol of sacrifice, sincerity and solidarity.
