PKR grassroot member moots drastic call for Nurul Izzah, mum Wan Azizah to step down

IF ever PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wishes to restore his party's image following the recent controversial deputy president contest, Nurul Izzah Anwar should relinquish her position to silent the opposition's accusations of nepotism until the 16th General Election (GE16). Such is the thought of the party's PKR Shah Alam member 𝖠𝖿𝗋𝖺𝗅'𝗌 (@AfralAbdullah) who further wanted the position to be re-contested by opening it to qualified candidates. 'Offering Rafizi (defeated incumbent deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli) the second deputy president role is not a solution,' he penned on X, alluding to political analyst Prof James Chin who deemed that Nurul Izzah 'cannot have an appointed deputy president because she lacks legitimacy'. POV Salam Menjelang Subuh. Semuga Subuh ini membawa ketenangan & keberkahan buat sahabat. Disclaimer; I express my views thoughtfully, avoiding slander & sensitivity of 3R. I value disagreement, recognizing diverse opinions enrich discourse. No one, no authority, no… — 𝖠𝖿𝗋𝖺𝗅'𝗌 (@AfralAbdullah) June 3, 2025 In the same tune, the Madani government backer who is disgruntled over mistreatment and disrespect shown to Reformasi livewire Rafizi also mooted the idea of the party advisor role being held by new leadership. 'This can prevent the party from being labelled a 'family party'. It's time for Kak Wan (Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail) to step back and rest,' asserted @AfralAbdullah who has been through thick and thin with PKR since its Reformasi heydays. 'Believe me, the oppositwho has been through thick and thin with the party since its Reformasi daysion's job will be much easier in GE16 if nepotism continues to 'stick' or be synonymous with the party.' Accountability Elsewhere, the digital creator also postulated that all ministers, deputy ministers and political secretaries who openly supported Nurul Izzah before the announcement of candidates for the deputy president contest should resign from the Madani government. 'Their actions displayed a lack of professionalism and leaned toward 'sycophancy'. People who lack professionalism and are seen as 'sycophants' should not hold government positions,' he stressed. Additionally, @AfralAbdullah also felt that the PKR Election Committee (JPP) chairperson Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa and her deputy, Ahmad Kassin must be held accountable if they fail to provide a clear or reasonable explanation on vote count disparity. 'Out of 30,000 eligible delegates, the combined votes for Rafizi & Nurul Izzah didn't even reach 15,000 or exactly 13,669 votes,' the grassroot member hit out. 'Where did the remaining 16,331 votes go? Lost or not cast?' Likewise, @AfralAbdullah also wanted the following three measures to be implemented in PKR: Branches with a 'head' but no 'body' should be investigated with re-elections held to restore confidence among members who believe the recent election was completely and absolutely 'rigged'; Leaders who lost in party elections or general elections should no longer hold ministerial or deputy ministerial positions to make way for winning leaders; and Investigate allegations of money politics (if any) in the recent party election. Added @AfralAbdullah who has 'delayed' his leaving PKR as he is awaiting Rafizi's announcement regarding his next steps after Eid al-Adha (June 7): Eid al-Adha is synonymous with the sacrifice ritual where only cows, goats, camels, etc are sacrificed. Unlike the recently concluded PKR party election, Rafizi – a loyalist who has long been associated with Anwar Ibrahim, someone who exemplified unwavering allegiance, devotion and fidelity to both Anwar and the PKR cause – became the 'sacrifice'. – June 5, 2025

Mahathir: First thing I'll do if ever become PM again is abolish 3R

Former two-time prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad intends to abolish punishments on those who speak of 3R (race, religion and royalty) sentiments if he were to assume the role again. Mahathir, who will turn 100 on July 10, said the measure is the "first thing" he will implement if he is given the chance to lead the nation again, as voices critical of his administration should not be silenced. "I must know what...

Govt takes ‘whole of government' approach to 3R issues, says Aaron

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is taking proactive measures to address issues related to religion, race and royalty (3R) by implementing a comprehensive "whole of government' approach involving cooperation among various ministries and agencies. National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang said the approach comprises two main segments, namely the Enforcement Segment (Punitive Approach) and the Intervention, Mediation and Awareness Segment (Reformative Approach). Aaron said that under the Enforcement Segment, enforcement agencies will take legal action against any party inciting 3R issues. "Among the ministries and agencies involved are the Home Affairs Ministry, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Communications Ministry and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). "Investigations are carried out by the authorities, and action is only taken after due consideration by the Attorney General's Chambers,' he said in a Facebook post on Monday (May 12). As for the Intervention, Mediation and Awareness Segment, Aaron said the focus is on preventing conflict from the grassroots level. He said the National Unity Ministry plays a key role through the implementation of high-impact initiatives such as monitoring sensitive issues, appointing community mediators, establishing Community Mediation Centres, and participating in the National Unity Advisory Council, Harmony Committee (JK Harmoni), MExUnity, and the Unity Issues Management Committee. Aaron said various unity programmes and campaigns are also being carried out to raise public awareness on the importance of national harmony. "These measures reflect the government's commitment not only in taking firm action against those involved in 3R issues but also in strengthening education, awareness, and the rebuilding of social ties to ensure national unity is preserved,' he said. - Bernama

Central African Republic agrees peace deals with two rebel groups

CAR government has signed peace deals with two armed Fulani groups, UPC and 3R, mediated by Chad. Both groups committed to cease hostilities and rejoin 2019's peace process after leaving in 2021. Fighting persists in remote areas despite violence subsiding and the government securing main cities. The Central African Republic's government has signed peace deals with two of the five groups in the country's most powerful armed rebel movement, officials said on agreements were signed last week in Chad, which acted as a mediator. "They committed to immediately ceasing hostilities upon signing the agreements on April 19... under the auspices of the guarantor, Chad," General Henry Wanzet Linguissara said. The CAR is among the poorest countries in the world and, since independence from France in 1960, has endured a succession of coups, authoritarian rulers and civil wars. The latest civil war started more than a decade ago. The government has secured the main cities, and violence has subsided in recent years. However, fighting occasionally erupts in remote regions between rebels and the national army, which is backed by Wagner mercenaries and Rwandan troops. The two predominantly Fulani armed groups that signed peace agreements are the Union for Peace in the Central African Republic (UPC) and the 3R Return, Reclamation and Rehabilitation details on the terms of the agreements or a timeframe were released. But Linguissara said the two groups had "committed to reintegrating into the peace process" struck by the government with 14 armed groups in 2019. The UPC and the 3R had left the process in 2021. Government spokesperson Maxime Balalou said: The two groups are part of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC), founded in December 2020 with the aim of overthrowing President Faustin Archange Touadera after he was re-elected for a second term. It is headed by exiled ex-president Francois Bozize, who seized power in 2003 in a coup and was, in turn, ousted by a Muslim-dominated armed coalition called the Seleka. Now living in exile in Guinea-Bissau, Bozize is the target of an arrest warrant issued by a United Nations-sponsored tribunal in the CAR for possible crimes against humanity.
