The last time the two nations squared off against each other was in January 2024, when Sri Lanka reigned victorious 2-0 in the three-match ODI series at home. The squads for the tour are yet to be named.
Zimbabwe are gearing up to host the ICC World Test Champions South Africa for a two-Test series, followed by a tri-series against the Proteas and New Zealand.

Paceman Jofra Archer has been named in England's squad for the second Test against India after an absence of more than four years. He was ruled out of England's recent ODI series against the West Indies with a thumb injury sustained while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. Archer has taken 42 Test wickets in his 13 Tests at an average of 31. Four uncapped players in Proteas squad for tri-series
Rassie van der Dussen, who has 50 T20I caps, will take charge of the South Africa squad that features four uncapped players for the upcoming shortest-format outings.
