A free two-course and a bottle of wine is included.
A Scottish hotel along the coast of the Firth of Clyde is currently available to book at a massive discount. Previous guests have described it as "lovely" and "fantastic".
The Esplanade Hotel is located on the West Bay Promenade of Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll and Bute. It features 59 bedrooms, a restaurant, and a bar.
At the moment, a one-night stay for two at the hotel can be booked for £99 through Wowcher. With the standard price being £210.85, this marks a discount of 53 per cent.
The Esplanade Hotel has previously been awarded a Tripadvisor Traveller's Choice award. All of its guest rooms feature Wi-Fi access, flat-screen televisions, walk-in showers, and tea and coffee making facilities.
The Wowcher deal also includes a bottle of wine upon arrival and a free breakfast in the morning. Guests can also enjoy a late 12pm checkout.
Another highlight of the deal is a free two-course dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The Garden Lounge offers panoramic views out across the River Clyde.
Elsewhere, visitors can enjoy a drink at the Esplanade Hotel's Malt Cellar Bar. The bar stocks a range of malt whiskies, as well as other beverages.
In terms of things to do while staying at the hotel, nearby highlights include the peaceful Argyll Forest Park and the historic Dunoon Castle Ruins. Dunoon is also home to the popular Walkers Coffee Shop and Hunters Bar and Grill.
On travel website Tripadvisor, the Esplanade Hotel has received mostly positive feedback from previous guests. At the moment, it has an overall rating of 4.1 out of five based on 1,018 reviews.
One visitor posted: "Came here about a year ago fantastic hotel and staff loved it didn't want to leave. Coming again this July with my sister can't wait.
"Food really good, rooms lovely, views great. Really nice friendly atmosphere. Cosy bar.
"Hotel is really clean and well kept. The front garden is lovely.
"Nice walk just outside the loch is on the doorstep. Can't wait to come back."
On the other hand, a less positive review reads: "Sadly down graded to three, however the staff deserve five-plus.
"The hotel itself is grubby, run down and needs lots of TLC. The beds were so old and needed replacing."
Another happy guest shared: "We've been to the Esplanade several times now with the last visit a couple of years ago so it was nice to see the improvements made in the time.
"We arrived on a GB Tours coach holiday after our long journey and from the first moment we were made to feel welcome by Suzy and her team. Our room was comfortable and clean with a comfortable bed/pillows."
If the Esplanade Hotel does not appeal, there are plenty of other accomodation options to choose from around Dunoon. These include the SGE Argyll Hotel and The Cedars Guest House bed and breakfast.

Scotland's top six fishing spots and what you can catch at each named

From the River Dee to Loch Lomond, Scotland is certainly not short of stunning fishing spots Scotland's top six "must-visit" fishing destinations have been named. Rivers, lochs, and more are all included in the roundup. Scotland is regarded as one of the top locations for fishing across the globe. From its idyllic surroundings to the various species that can be caught, it is perfect for both seasoned anglers and newcomers alike. ‌ On Wednesday, June 4, The Insurance Emporium published a list of the top places to fish across Scotland. A total of six destinations are included on the roundup, including two rivers, two lochs, and two seaside spots. ‌ The first fishing destination featured on the experts' list is the River Spey, which is the third-longest and fastest-flowing river in the country. The river runs from Spey Loch to the sea on the Moray Firth. According to The Insurance Emporium, the River Spey is an especially good spot to fish for salmon and trout. It is considered among the most important salmon rivers in the whole of the UK. Another river singled out by the experts for fishing is the River Dee. One of the the highest rivers in the UK, it runs from the Cairngorms down through 81 miles of Royal Deeside to the North Sea at Aberdeen. Like the River Spey, The Insurance Emporium stated that the River Dee is a top spot for salmon and trout. They also praised its clear and fast waters and abundance of shallow pools. Meanwhile, the first loch in Scotland named by the experts as among the best fishing locations in the country is Loch Awe. Situated in Argyll and Bute, it is the third-biggest freshwater loch in the country—covering a surface area of around 38.5 square kilometres. ‌ According to The Insurance Emporium, Loch Awe is a good place for salmon, pike, and brown trout. The ruined Kilchurn Castle also provides a picturesque backdrop as you wait for a bite. The second and final loch included in the list of the top Scottish fishing spots is Loch Lomond. It is the largest loch in Scotland by surface area, covering 71 square kilometres, and is among the most iconic in the country alongside Loch Ness. ‌ There is a wide selection of fish that the experts suggest fishing at Loch Lomond, including salmon, pike, sea trout, chub, perch, and dace. It is recommended that fishers journey out onto the water by boat for the best chance of landing a bite. Elsewhere, for those interested in some seaside fishing, The Insurance Emporium recommends Dunnet Head. The most northerly point on Great Britain, Dunnet Head is famous for its spectacular coastal views. ‌ The northern spot was named as a top destination for skate and halibut fishing. Meanwhile, the Dunnet Head Fishing Club is the northernmost fishing club on mainland Scotland. Finally, the last location in Scotland that was named among the best for fishing is Stonehaven. Stonehaven is a picturesque town situated along the northeast coast of Scotland, around 15 miles out of Aberdeen. ‌ According to the experts, Stonehaven is a great place for cod and sea bass. They also state that flounder and mackerel can be found in its waters. The Insurance Emporium website states: "Scotland offers so much to fans of the great outdoors, with its rugged landscape, amazing coastline and beautiful lochs, and fishing is no exception. "But with so many different locations it can be a challenge to find the right spot, so we've put together six of the best spots to cast your line, whether you're after trout and salmon, or sea fishing, there really is something for everyone. So, let's take a look at six of the top fishing destinations in Scotland." The Insurance Emporium website. First Bus to change timetables for services across Glasgow

The new timetables will affect 25 routes across Greater Glasgow and Lanarkshire starting from Sunday, June 15, as part of the company's efforts to improve punctuality and reliability using artificial intelligence. AI software has already delivered an average punctuality improvement of 8.5 per cent across more than 60 routes. Read more: £1 million project to test AI's effectiveness in Scottish NHS First Bus believes that further updates using the technology will create an even better service for its customers. Chris Coleman, head of network for First Bus in Scotland, said: "This is a significant package of improvements for our customers across Lanarkshire and Glasgow. "We want to provide a service that is reliable, consistent and, most importantly, on time. "Congestion throughout Greater Glasgow has increased greatly in recent years and this has had a hugely negative impact on bus services in the city. "We recognise the importance of building timetables that fit with the current live road conditions, so our customers know when their bus will arrive. "These adjustments we are making to the timetables will achieve that while allowing us to serve as many people as possible." AI-driven technology, combined with First Bus' network planning expertise, is being used to create timetables that better reflect real-world conditions, including traffic and congestion. Among the route changes, services 18 and 21 will be updated. Alternate service 18 buses will now travel from East Kilbride bus station to Gardenhall under the new 18A route. As a result, service 21 will now operate only between East Kilbride bus station and Cochrane Street in Glasgow city centre. In addition, service 201 has been extended from Hairmyres Hospital to Lidl on Eaglesham Road and the new Hairmyres railway station. Other services with additional journeys include the 226, 263, 266, X4, and X11. Further routes affected by the updates include the 2, 3, 6, 6A, 8, 11, 16, 18, 18A, 21, 77, 81, 90, 201, 226, 240, 241, 242, 255, 263, 266, 267, X4, X11, and U1. Read more: Glasgow workers hail first-of-a-kind celebration at bus depot First Bus aim to update physical timetable displays at stops as soon as possible. However, due to the scale of the changes, the company is encouraging passengers to use the First Bus app for the latest timetable information and live bus tracking. Full details of the updated timetables are available on the First Bus website.
