Alex Anzalone's cryptic post adds fuel to the perceived contract demands in Detroit
Alex Anzalone's cryptic post adds fuel to the perceived contract demands in Detroit Lions linebacker Alex Anzalone has remained away from the team's voluntary offseason workouts thus far. The team captain is entering the final year of his contract (the deal voids for 2026) and the presumption is that Anzalone, who turns 31 in September, is looking for more money, more guaranteed money, or some combination of both to stay in Detroit. Anzalone's latest social media post is throwing gasoline onto that smoldering situation, one that head coach Dan Campbell stated last week didn't concern him at all. The Instagram post shows Anzalone working out away from the team and looking impressive physically. Anzalone makes no mention at all of the Lions in the extended video clip, nor does he refer to Detroit in his simple comment, "In life, you have options. Which will you choose?" Based on the comments to the clip, including one from Lions teammate Jahmyr Gibbs, it's abundantly clear that the masses believe Anzalone is referring to his perceived contractual squabble with the Lions in the video. Anzalone is under contract for $6 million in 2025, though none of that salary is guaranteed. Including his $100,000 roster bonus, Anzalone's total compensation is outside the top 25 LBs in the NFL for 2025. More: Lions OTA notebook and observations from Friday's practice session

Family detail as Craig Bellamy tipped to quit Storm and join Queensland NRL team
Craig Bellamy is being tipped to make a stunning switch from the Melbourne Storm to the Gold Coast Titans to be closer to his extended family. The legendary coach is believed to be on the cusp of making a decision this week on whether to continue for a 24th year at the helm of the Storm. The 65-year-old signed a five-year contract back in 2022 that allows him to decide on an annual basis whether he will continue in the head coach position or transition into a coaching director role. Bellamy is showing no signs of slowing down, adding to his workload this year by joining the NSW State of Origin team as an advisor to coach Laurie Daley. Speaking on Tuesday, Storm players Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes said they were in the dark about what decision Bellamy will make. But NRL reporter Zane Bojack dropped a bombshell that he believes Bellamy will head to the Gold Coast after one more year with the Storm in 2026. Bojack pointed out that Bellamy's daughter and grandkids live in Queensland, and he doesn't believe the 65-year-old wants to transition away from being a head coach just yet. Speaking on the 'InZane Rugby League' on ABC, Queensland-based reporter Bojack said he'd heard whispers that Bellamy wants to be north of the border. He said: "I don't want to get Titans fans too excited, but one thing I heard at the know Des Hasler is gone (eventually)...is there a chance Craig Bellamy could be coaching them in 2027? "He's going to announce either this week or next week that he's going to sign for one more year with the Storm, and it's my belief that he's going back to the Gold Coast after that. We know the Storm have tried to tie him up with consultancy deals, but I don't think he's interested in being a consultant. I think he's a bit like Wayne Bennett and he wants to be a coach. "The word that I have been given is the Gold Coast have talked to him. We know his daughter is up there along with his grandkids. He's also got two units on the Gold Coast and maybe he wants to live in one come 2027." Bojack pointed out the Titans made a late play for fellow Storm legend Cameron Smith in 2020 before he eventually decided to retire. "If this does happen, do they leave Des Hasler until his contract runs out or do they pull the pin now and get someone in for the interim?" Bojack added. Former Canberra Raiders player Sam Walker said: "That would certainly turn their culture around and help with signing players and how the whole club is viewed. It would be the biggest thing that's every happened to the club." Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Hughes said he hadn't heard any whispers around what call his coach might make. Munster has been enlisted in the past to persuade "Bellyache" to sign on, but revealed he hadn't made a visit to his office this time around. "Usually around this time it's all in the papers of what he's going to do, but there hasn't been much talk," Hughes said. "He probably wouldn't want that to distract anyone either, likes to keep that close to his chest, what he's going to do. "I guess it's that time of year where it's probably going to come up now and he's probably going to have to make a decision soon and I'm sure Munny (Munster) will be back in his office trying to get him to stay another year." RELATED: Manly tipped to lose gun player unless Tom Trbojevic vacates Nathan Cleary act comes to light after Panthers axe Test player Hughes believes Bellamy is still the best coach in the game and hopes the Storm can convince him to stay. "He's such a great coach and he's been such a great mentor for all of us players for so long - so the longer he stays the better," the Dally M medallist said. "It's whatever's best for him and his family and whatever he wants to do but I can't see him hanging it up too soon. He'll get bored at home in his mansion at Albert Park so I'm sure he'll go around again."
