Bronny James Dealt Unexpected News Before NBA Playoffs
If there's one thing NBA fans live for, it's postseason drama.
As the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for their playoff push, whispers of roster moves and player awards have been swirling.
But few expected the news drop that landed just days before tip-off.

Bronny James, the heir-apparent son of LeBron and a budding guard on a two-way contract with the South Bay Lakers, was not named to the 2024-25 All-NBA G League First Team.
Despite averaging 21.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game, shooting better than 44% from the field and 38% from three, his name was absent from the five-man First Team.
Despite only playing in 11 G League games this season with the South Bay Lakers, a lot of fans and analysts pencilled him in for an All-League nod.
That said, the guys who did get in more than deserved it.
JD Davidson finished among the league leaders for both points (25.6) and assists (7.5) per game, earning him Kia G League MVP for the 2024-25 season.

Mac McClung also finished near the top in scoring, averaging 25.7 points per game.

Veteran floor general Malachi Flynn averaged 22.6 points, 5.4 boards, and 4.2 assists per game to lock up the other guard spot.
Oscar Tshiebwe for the Salt Lake City Stars was an absolute menace on the boards, leading the league with 19.0 per game.
Jaylen Nowell was the G League's deadliest shooter, dropping over 24 points per game at a blistering 46.3% from downtown.
That was Bronny's competition.
Even if he had competed in more than 11 G League games this season, it was always going to be an uphill battle for James.

Nevertheless, missing out is never easy, especially when your last name carries such heavyweight expectations.

Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin Makes NBA History in Game 3 vs. Thunder
Pacers' Bennedict Mathurin Makes NBA History in Game 3 vs. Thunder originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Game 3 did not feature the result the Oklahoma City Thunder wanted. One of the biggest reasons for that was a spectacular performance off the Indiana Pacers' bench by Bennedict Mathurin. Advertisement The Pacers secured a 2-1 lead in the 2025 NBA Finals behind a competitive 116-107 win over the Thunder at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Thunder pulled ahead early following a 32-24 first quarter. However, the Pacers stormed back. The decisive part of this game was the fourth quarter for Indiana. The Pacers outscored the Thunder 32-18 in the final frame to maintain the homecourt advantage they stole in Oklahoma City. The Pacers wing led all scorers in Game 3 with 27 points. That helped him set some NBA history in the process. According to Sportsnet Stats, Mathurin set the new mark for most points off the bench by a Canadian in an NBA Finals game. The Pacers youngster eclipsed the previous mark held by Kelly Olynyk, who had 24 points in Game 2 of the 2020 NBA Finals. Advertisement Mathurin shot an efficient 9-of-12 from the field in the victory. That included 2-of-3 from the 3-point line. The Canadian wing also connected on 7-of-8 free throw attempts in this game. After only dropping 5 points in Game 1 of the series, Mathurin has now registered double-digit scoring outings in back-to-back games for the Pacers. The bench spark plug scored 14 in Game 2, leading up to this 27-point performance in Game 3. Mathurin is playing in his first playoff run with the Pacers after missing last year's trip to the Eastern Conference Finals due to injury. The Thunder would be wise to not let the young scorer pick up momentum as this series progresses. Mavericks news: Kyrie Irving's ‘connected' Cooper Flagg revelation before NBA Draft
The post Mavericks news: Kyrie Irving's 'connected' Cooper Flagg revelation before NBA Draft appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Dallas Mavericks will have a big decision to make in the next couple of weeks, as they have the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft. The decision shouldn't be that hard, as Cooper Flagg has been the consensus No. 1 pick for the entire year. All signs are pointing to Flagg being selected by the Mavericks, and he'll be able to help them in the present and future. Advertisement One of his teammates will be Kyrie Irving, who will miss some time to start the season after recovering from an ACL injury. Ironically, Irving and Flagg have some similarities that could help their chemistry early, and the Mavericks' point guard spoke about him on his appearance on the NBA Future Starts Now. 'We definitely are connected. He's a Duke Blue Devil,' Irving said.'I know he can deal with the pressure, and I'm looking forward to seeing a great season. Not only from him, but a lot of other young players that are here nationally and also internationally.' Irving and Flagg are not teammates yet, and there's still a slight chance that they won't be, but it's good to know that they have something in common that they could possibly bond over. Cooper Flagg is set to visit the Mavericks soon With all signs pointing to the Mavericks drafting Flagg, he is set to visit the team in about a week, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Advertisement 'Cooper Flagg plans to have a private visit with the Mavericks in Dallas on June 17, sources tell ESPN. One week after his first official Mavs visit, Flagg is set to be Dallas' No. 1 pick in the NBA draft on June 25,' Charania wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Flagg is undoubtedly the best player in this year's draft, and he has skills on both sides of the ball that could elevate any team he goes to. In this case, the Mavericks will be getting him, but there shouldn't be much pressure on him like a typical No. 1 pick, due to the fact that he's going to a team that is supposed to be a contender. Anthony Davis is the star on the team, and the Mavericks have a roster full of talented players who have playoff experience, and even NBA Finals experience. Once Irving returns, the Mavericks should be at full force and will be trying to make a run in the playoffs, depending on how their season starts off.
