Brady House to make MLB debut with Nationals
Former Tennessee signee Brady House will make his Major League Baseball debut for the Nationals on Monday, according to Grant Paulsen of WJFK-FM 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C.
"Source: The Nationals are calling up Brady House to make his debut tomorrow against the Rockies," Paulsen said.
House was selected No. 11 overall in the first round of the 2021 MLB draft by Washington. He committed to the Vols and head coach Tony Vitello in June 2018. House signed with Tennessee and was part of the Vols' 2021 recruiting class before being drafted by Washington.
He was the 2021 No. 1 nationally ranked recruit, according to Perfect Game. House is from Winder-Barrow High School in Winder, Georgia.

Vitello has produced 10 student-athletes who played for him during his Tennessee head coaching tenure (2018-present) to reach MLB: Garrett Crochet, Chase Silseth, Ben Joyce, Andre Lipcius, Trey Lipscomb, Jordan Beck , Seth Halvorsen, Chase Dollander, Blade Tidwell and Christian Moore.
The Nationals will open a four-game home series against Colorado on Monday. First pitch is slated for 6:45 p.m. EDT at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Aaron Civale gets a little wild in White Sox debut after trade from Brewers
ARLINGTON, Texas — Aaron Civale got a little wild in the right-hander's first start for the Chicago White Sox two days after he was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers. Civale walked four of the first seven hitters he faced in a 2-1 loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday. The 30-year-old finished with four walks, one off his career high, while allowing six hits and two runs in five innings. He threw 65 strikes and 39 balls. Chicago trailed 2-1 when he was replaced by Dan Altavilla to start the sixth. 'Not the cleanest,' Civale said. 'It's been a whirlwind of a week. First couple of innings, just getting back out there and settling in and getting used to the new team, new catcher and all of the above.' The White Sox acquired Civale a day after he said he wanted to remain a starter — for the Brewers or another team — following his demotion to the Milwaukee bullpen. The Brewers made the move to clear the way for hard-throwing prospect Jacob Misiorowski to join the rotation. Civale (1-3) pitched a scoreless first inning despite three walks, thanks in part to Wyatt Langford's double-play grounder. The fourth walk ended up costing Civale when Adolis García scored on the first Texas hit — a two-out double from Ezequiel Duran in the second inning. The Rangers made it 2-0 on Marcus Semien's sacrifice fly in the fifth, when Civale allowed three hits but struck out Jake Burger to end the inning with runners at second and third. 'Credit to him for grinding through that and getting through five innings,' said manager Will Venable, who was ejected after a couple of close calls didn't go Civale's way in the first inning. 'Not his sharpest day, but with these veteran guys that have experience, they're able to navigate tough situations.' All 123 of Civale's regular-season appearances in the major leagues have been starts. This is the third consecutive year he has been part of a midseason trade. Milwaukee got him from Tampa Bay last year. The Rays acquired him from Cleveland in 2023. 'It never gets easier,' Civale said. 'There's comfort in experience that you have, but every time it's new and it's a different challenge in itself. You're trying to make that adjustment as quick as you can. Was out there trying to compete and I wasn't filling up the zone like I would have liked to.' Milwaukee sent Civale, who is eligible for free agency after this season, to the White Sox for first baseman Andrew Vaughn and $807,000 in cash. Civale said he had no issues with anybody in the Brewers clubhouse, or the coaches there. He just wanted to remain a starter, like he had also been for all 86 of his minor-league appearances. The outing against Texas lowered Civale's ERA to 4.67 this season, when he is making $8 million. He has allowed nine runs over 24 innings in five starts since a stint on injured list with a strained left hamstring. Civale threw just six of his first 19 pitches for strikes, and it was during that stretch that home plate umpire Marvin Hudson, the crew chief, gestured into the Chicago dugout. Moments later, he ejected Venable. The second career ejection for Venable, a first-year manager, came on Father's Day. The first was on Mother's Day. Shohei Ohtani has 'high likelihood' to return as pitcher this week, as an opener
Shohei Ohtani is now a year and a half into his Los Angeles Dodgers career without having thrown a pitch from an MLB mound. It appears that's about to change. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Sunday's game that there is a "high possibility" of Ohtani pitching in a big league game as an opener upon his return, likely during the team's series against the San Diego Padres this week, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Advertisement Just that afternoon, Roberts had been indicating that an Ohtani return could be near while speaking with reporters ahead of a 5-4 win overthe San Francisco Giants. He announced that Ohtani would be throwing to live hitters early next week, then was asked if that would be his final step before making a full return to the mound. The first and most important word of Roberts' answer: "Potentially." His full response: "Potentially. He's getting very eager, getting very exited. I think that there's a point in hearing from Shohei that the effort that it takes to throw live and play a game, let's use those bullets in a game. So he's getting very excited." Ohtani was expected to be a hitter only in his first season with the Dodgers, but the team hoped he could resume the two-way responsibilities that made him a superstar by Opening Day of this year. That obviously hasn't happened, as a torn labrum in his non-throwing shoulder sustained in the 2024 World Series threw off his offseason rehab timetable. Advertisement The Dodgers have been as hazy as possible when it comes to Ohtani's current timetable, though it's well-established that he won't be going on a rehab assignment because his bat is too valuable. Instead of a rehab assignment, it appears the Dodgers will be giving Ohtani an increasing number of innings as he stretches out to full workload. It has been a chaotic time in general for the Dodgers' rotation, which is currently without Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki and many more. Glasnow and Snell could both be a month away, while Roberts said Sunday that Sasaki has been shut down from throwing, with no timetable for a return. When asked if Sasaki, currently on the IL due to a right shoulder impingement, is no longer in the team's long-term plans for 2025, Roberts answered in the affirmative. Advertisement The rotation is at least set to get a boost soon, as Emmet Sheehan, out since spring training of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery, is currently finishing up a rehab assignment. Roberts said there is a "very high likelihood" of him getting activated to fill a rotation hole on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Whichever game Sheehan doesn't take, that might be the date for Ohtani. Ben Casparius is scheduled to open Monday's game, while staff ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto is scheduled for Thursday, per Roberts.
