Mumbai Police Provides Security Cover To Kapil Sharma After Two Shooting Incidents At His Canada Cafe

Hans India2 days ago
Mumbai Police has extended security protection to popular comedian and television host Kapil Sharma after his newly opened cafe in Canada became the target of two separate shooting incidents within the past month. The attacks on Kap's Cafe in Surrey have prompted authorities to take preventive measures for the entertainer's safety.
The most recent shooting occurred during the early morning hours of Thursday, August 7, in Surrey's Newton neighborhood. Surrey Police responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 4:40 AM outside a business establishment in the 8400 block of 120 Street. While police officials did not publicly identify the targeted venue, Canadian media sources confirmed that Sharma's Kap's Cafe was the location of the attack.
This incident follows a similar shooting that took place at the same cafe on July 10, 2025, creating a disturbing pattern of targeted violence. In both instances, no individuals were physically harmed, though the repeated nature of these attacks has generated significant security concerns for the establishment and its proprietor.
Surrey Police have launched comprehensive investigations into both shooting incidents, examining potential connections between the attacks and exploring whether they might be linked to broader criminal activities in the region. The investigations are ongoing as authorities work to determine the motives behind the targeted violence.
The 43-year-old comedian, widely recognized for his successful television program The Kapil Sharma Show, established the cafe earlier this year as part of his expanding business ventures in international markets. Sources indicate that Sharma has maintained regular communication with Canadian law enforcement officials and is providing full cooperation with their investigation efforts.
Evidence from the July incident revealed at least ten bullet holes in one of the cafe's windows, with another window pane completely shattered during the attack. The building housing the cafe contains retail establishments at ground level with residential apartments situated above, though the exact number of residents affected by the incidents remains unclear.
The frequency of these attacks has heightened concerns about a potential wave of targeted violence in the area, with authorities continuing their investigation amid unverified online speculation about possible gang involvement. The pattern of repeated attacks on the same establishment has led security experts to recommend enhanced protective measures for business owners in the region.
Local authorities are working closely with business owners and residents to address safety concerns while the investigation progresses. The cafe had opened just days before the first shooting incident in July, making the timing of the attacks particularly concerning for law enforcement officials examining the circumstances surrounding these violent incidents.

Man Rescued After Carving 'HELP' On Rock, Survives 9 Days On Pond Water

A man managed to survive in the Canadian wilderness for nine days by just living off dirty pond water. The man, identified as Andrew Barber, 39, was rescued after carving the word "HELP" on a rock and drawing "SOS" in the mud. He was found sheltering under a makeshift mud lean-to next to the signs, according to a report in the BBC. Mr Barber was reported missing on July 31 near McLeese Lake, approximately 587km north of Vancouver, where his truck had broken down. His position was located after a helicopter spotted his truck on a forest road. "After over a week in the wilderness, our subject has been located alive during today's search from the air. This outcome is the result of countless hours on the ground and in the air, using every resource and piece of technology available to us," Quesnel Search and Rescue (QSR), an area volunteer search and rescue group, posted on Facebook. "This outcome is the result of countless hours on the ground and in the air, using every resource and piece of technology available to us." QSR President Bob Zimmerman said Mr Barber was having a hard time standing and it was highly unlikely that he would have made it through another 24 hours without the rescue workers recovering him. 'He sustained some injuries' Staff Sergeant Brad McKinnon of the Williams Lake RCMP said Mr Barber survived by "literally slurping unclean pond water to stay hydrated". 'The human body can go a long time without food, but water is a different situation," said Mr McKinnon, adding: 'He sustained some injuries and was severely dehydrated. We found him at the right time." After the rescue, he was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Has Karrion Kross been released by the WWE? Explaining the controversy surrounding his status with the promotion

Karrion Kross on August 11 confirmed that he is no longer with the WWE and added that he will soon be taking independent booking. Scarlett, his wife and manager, too has apparently been let go by the company. While this seems to be legit, there may be more to the situation. Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer has stated in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that everyone backstage is 'skeptical' about whether this is a shoot. This suggests that the whole thing may just be work. He had also earlier stated that WWE offered Kross and Scarlett contracts ahead of the end of their current deals. This has further added to the mystery surrounding their status. Karrion Kross released: Is it a work? WWE, like most pro wrestling companies, is a storyline-driven product. In fact, the whole business thrives on Kayfabe (making things that aren't real look real). Keeping this in mind, the scenario may just be WWE's way of testing his popularity and bringing him back when the time is right. If this happens, the angle may have shades of the recent fiasco involving R-Truth. In case you did not know, 'Ronnie' was released by the WWE a few months ago. He, however, returned at Money in the Bank and helped Cody Rhodes-Jey Uso beat Logan Paul and John Cena. This came after the company faced intense backlash from fans. Triple H, the head of WWE's creative team, described it as a work, but Truth maintained it wasn't. Going down this route would help the company bring him back as a face and give him a push. Karrion Kross to return as a heel? The WWE in recent years has constantly tried to blur the line between reality and storyline. The injury angle with Seth Rollins is a case in point. 'The Visionary' lost his match against LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event after 'injuring' his knee. This was described as a legitimate setback and Rollins was even seen on crutches backstage during Evolution. However, it was eventually revealed that he wasn't injured. The injury was part of a storyline and he returned at SummerSlam Night 1 to cash-in his MITB contract on a vulnerable CM Punk. This again suggests that the Karrion Kross contract situation may just be another angle. In this case, he could return as a heel and target some popular stars. Karrion Kross' rise in the WWE is undeniable Kross had emerged as a bankable mid-card heel over the last few months courtesy of his mic skills. His segments with AJ Styles and Sami Zayn were well-received. He also received a push when he squared off against the Canadian star at Night of Champions and SummerSlam, losing on both occasions. His stint with the WWE is seemingly over for now but the company's track record suggests that there may be a twist in the tale.
