GIGABYTE AORUS MASTER 16/18 Series Harnesses AI Excellence For Powerhouse Gaming On The Go

Be it a gaming laptop or desktop battlestation, there are always fixed prerequisites that users look out for to get the best out of the experience. The first is powerful hardware, offering the punch needed to run graphically-demanding games smoothly, followed by an excellent display that enhances the viewing experience through striking visuals and sharp detail. Cooling is another, proving important in preventing heat build-up and performance throttle issues. The GIGABYTE AORUS MASTER 16/18 Series touts all of that, but raises the bar with its mastery over various artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Representing the ultimate work and play experience, the combined competence starts with top-line hardware, of up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX5090 GPU and an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 275HX, alongside a starting 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage (upgradable to 64GB and 4TB, respectively). As the RTX 50 Series of graphics cards supports ray-time ray tracing, users can expect more photorealistic visuals, greater clarity, and truer-to-life shadow and reflection effects. On its exterior, the AORUS MASTER 16/18 has achieved its deepest black ever, at 5° Black, which contrasts beautifully with RGB lighting in the dark. A 16-inch OLED display feeds into the immersion, boasting WQXGA resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels), a 240Hz refresh rate, and a 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. Coupled with Dolby Vision and Display HDR1000 compatibility, it works to deliver vibrant images, deep blacks, and rich contrast. Fluid and responsive gameplay is also part of the package – a welcome treat from NVIDIA's own suite of tools such as G-Sync, which eliminates stutter and artefacts on the screen. While the refresh rate remains unchanged on the 18-inch models, their panels are swapped out for the mini-LED QHD option (2,560 x 1,440 pixels). The cinematic delight is accompanied by audio mastery. Sporting up to six speakers with dual-force woofers, the device promises 1.58 times louder volume and deeper bass, as well as Dolby Atmos support. Additionally, a smart amplifier, intelligently matched to the speaker's physical capabilities, ensures distortion-free audio at any volume level and reliable long-term operation. There are trade-offs to heavyweight gaming, however. Overheating may be easily glossed over by some, but it can be damaging in the long run, especially for laptops and their limited ventilation capabilities. To that end, the AORUS MASTER 16/18 comes with fortified WindForce Infinite EX cooling, comprising a frost fan, a quad-fan design, a vapour chamber, and 3D VortX air channelling that work together to support up to 270-watt total thermal power for sustained high-performance output. Here's how the magic works – the frost fan adopts 158 asymmetric blades to increase airflow density, while the quad-fan setup reduces core component temperatures by up to 4.7 degree Celsius and noise levels by seven per cent. Then comes the vapour chamber, boosting coverage by 50 per cent for more efficient thermal performance, with 3D VortX technology improving the heat exchange process via four exhaust outlets and 3D air channelling. The enhanced cooling efficiency is designed to last, too, so users can enjoy hours-long gaming sessions in peace without their hand feeling warm. All of these capabilities are further optimised by a GIGABYTE special (and arguably its biggest draw), the GiMATE. Featuring an intuitive interface that extends more personal control to users, the AI-powered smart assistant is rooted in two key implementations – embedding advanced large language models (LLM) to understand and anticipate needs without encroaching on data privacy, and G-Cell, a suite of proprietary tech that optimises hardware based on user experiences. Here's how each of them works: AI Power – Smart GPU switching for up to 15 percent longer battery life – Smart GPU switching for up to 15 percent longer battery life AI Performance – One-click overclocking for GPU and fan tuning to balance performance with efficiency – One-click overclocking for GPU and fan tuning to balance performance with efficiency AI Cooling – Adapts to surroundings for silent operation – Adapts to surroundings for silent operation AI Audio – Auto-calibrates based on laptop positioning – Auto-calibrates based on laptop positioning AI Voice – Advanced noise cancellation and voice recognition – Advanced noise cancellation and voice recognition AI Privacy – Automatically detects when authorised viewers approach and obscures screen Other notable features of GiMATE include Press and Speak, which responds to user requests, query, needs, and more, and GiMate creator, an image generator that imports the latest AI models from Hugging Face and has snagged the honour of being the industry's first mobile design hub ready for AI experimentation and deployment. Amid the continued growth of AI, the AORUS MASTER 16/18 presents a strong case for how the tech can be neatly integrated into existing capabilities, focusing on value-added functionality instead of flashy action – such that it won the Computex 2025 Best Choice Award for Industry-Leading Innovation. The 16-inch model retails for S$7,499 with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of ROM, whereas its 18-inch sibling starts at S$6,069 for 32GB of RAM and 2TB of ROM. Meanwhile, the 64GB RAM and 2TB storage variant costs S$8,388. Both models are available for purchase now via Techyard and GamePro. Omnidesk Ascent Standing Desk (Black Ash) – Review

If there's anything that the pandemic has taught us, it's that you don't have to be seated at your desk while working. From standing while typing, to walking around while taking a call, to walking on the spot as you reply to emails – more people are learning that a desk and a chair are not always the best combination for every workspace. And those who do so, not seated for eight extended hours at their office or home desk set-ups, will no longer feel the constant back and body aches faced after a long day of work. Indeed, today's health-conscious users demand more than just makeshift desk arrangements like dining tables or even traditional office furniture – they want a desk that's not only sturdy enough to handle even the most complex rigs, but one that can adjust to suit different postures too. That's where smart desks come in, as these flexible workstations are capable of seamlessly switching between sitting and standing positions at the push of a button. And for those looking for the best of the best, Singaporean SME Omnidesk is pulling out all the stops with its Ascent flagship standing desk, providing all the features modern users desire along with notable updates to its Omnidesk Pro lineup. At first glance, the Ascent essentially functions identically to the Pro, inheriting all its major features, like a mechanised self-raising and lowering mechanism that comes with anti-collision, in case the young ones happen to run under an elevated desk, or if there's an obstruction preventing the table from being raised to chest level. The Ascent uses smart detection to absorb impact from above or below and adjust accordingly when faced with obstacles, preventing minor accidents from movable furniture. Coupled with its handy cable management system and cutout on the desktop to flush those unsightly cables, the Ascent can be used to configure any set-up, from multiple screens across the table in your home, to that minimalist centrepiece for your office cubicle. The magic lies in the Ascent's finer details. For starters, it packs in Omnidesk's latest Gen 3 dual motor in its steel frame columns, providing a 60mm/s elevation speed compared to the 43mm/s of the Pro. The desk's maximum adjustable height range also differs slightly, at 63.7 to 127cm over the Pro's 60 to 125cm. Perhaps the Ascent's most obvious visual difference lies in its new OLED controller, featuring not only larger tactile keys for its height adjustment and four programmable memory buttons, but also customisable RGB lighting with six colour settings available. Just like on the Pro, there's also a handy USB-A port located on the side of the controller for easy charging of a user's devices. The changes to its controller aren't just limited to aesthetics, however, as the Ascent now features an integrated Bluetooth app, Omnidesk Life, which can not only adjust the height of the desk remotely with up to nine memory profiles, but also features a bunch of handy features like tracking sitting and standing activity, adjusting the anti-collision feature's sensitivity, or building a custom height limit. These improvements might seem small on the surface, but when spending most of your time sitting or standing behind a desk, having a hands-free way to adjust the height on the fly and quicker adjustment time goes a long way in making the user experience as comfortable and hassle-free as possible. Aesthetics wise, most Omnidesk tables look the same from afar, but up close, you notice how it expertly blends simplicity with functionality, with tabletops of different compositions, crafted from high-grade MDF (medium-density fibre) wood that's not only lightweight but durable to boot, offering a wide range of colourways including black, white, pink and bamboo. For those who desire a more premium finish, Omnidesk also offers its Wildwood collection alongside its new limited edition Black Ash option, a pleasingly clean aesthetic with a distinct wood grain. To suit each individual's work space, the Ascent comes in three sizes: Small (122 x 76cm), Large (153 x 76cm) and XL (183 x 76cm). Using its new Frame-X Technology in its rounded leg frames, the desk remained sturdy even at its maximum height, and can support up to 130kg of weight despite the slim tabletop. To customise the desk for further functionality, Omnidesk also provides optional add-ons like advanced cable management options, mountable power bricks or castors for easy desk adjustment. For those worried about the desk's setup process, Omnidesk promises easy assembly between 15 to 30 minutes, but those who are not confident about building it on their own can always opt for on-site assembly by the Omnidesk team, although this is subject to additional assembly fees. With prices starting at S$1,279 for the regular colourways and S$1,528 for the limited edition Black Ash variant, the Omnidesk Ascent standing desk elevates (pun intended) the already impressive standards set by its predecessors, introducing subtle but effective enhancements for those who want the most out of their smart desk setups. Summary Very much ascending like its namesake, the Omnidesk Ascent marks the next step in the company's innovations, and a worthwhile investment for those looking for a premium standing desk that's equal parts durable and aesthetically pleasing. 9.3/10 Aesthetics - 9/10 Build Quality - 9.5/10 Performance - 9.5/10 Value - 9/10 Geek Satisfaction - 9.5/10 Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary, Surpasses 60 Million Sales

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has hit an incredible milestone 10 years after its launch, with CD Projekt announcing that the beloved role-playing game (RPG) has surpassed 60 million copies sold worldwide. 'Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt's adventures marks a pivotal point in our history. The game earned hundreds of awards and solidified our studio's standing, but more importantly, it brought untold hours of adventures and emotions to millions of gamers the world over.' said joint CEO of CD Projekt Adam Badowski in a statement, 'I am proud to announce that since its release The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies, securing a place among the bestselling video games in all history, and motivating us to carry on with intensive work on the next trilogy set in this universe.' It is to be noted that the latest 60 million figure only includes sales of the base game and its GOTY or complete editions, and does not factor in individual sales for its two expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine . With this new milestone, The Witcher 3 is one step closer to overtaking Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , which reached the same 60 million sales mark in June 2023. Last year, the developer announced a Witcher 3 concert tour spanning multiple countries to celebrate the anniversary, with tickets now available on its official website for performances across North America and Europe, leading up to November this year, with more locations and dates to be announced closer to 2026. As The Witcher 3 celebrates its incredible success, CD Projekt is already looking towards the future, with its upcoming sequel, The Witcher 4 , currently in full production with an estimated release window of 2027, leading to the possibility that it might be released for next-generation consoles.
