Oil Soars as Trump's Attack on Iran Boosts Risks to Supplies
Oil surged after the US struck Iran's three main nuclear sites and threatened further attacks, exacerbating a crisis in the Middle East and stoking concerns that energy supplies from the region could be disrupted.
Global benchmark Brent rallied as much as 5.7% to $81.40 a barrel, extending three weeks of gains. In a weekend address, US President Donald Trump said air attacks had 'obliterated' the trio of targets, and threatened more military action if Iran didn't make peace. In its initial reply, Tehran warned the strikes would trigger 'everlasting consequences.'

Goldman Sachs warns of rising risks to energy supply, sees potential surge in oil prices
(Reuters) -Goldman Sachs flagged increasing risks to global energy supply and raised concerns over a potential disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to significant spikes in oil and natural gas prices, the bank said in a note dated Sunday. The bank estimated Brent crude could briefly peak at $110 per barrel if oil flows through the critical waterway were halved for a month and remained down by 10% for the following 11 months. Additionally, it noted that a drop in Iranian supply by 1.75 million barrels per day could push Brent to a peak of around $90 per barrel. Sign in to access your portfolio
