HERNDON, Va. () — A black bear was spotted roaming the neighborhoods of Herndon on Monday — the latest in its adventure around the DMV.
Neighbors in the Alabama Drive and Hillwood Court area woke up to a 'bear-y' shocking surprise. A large black bear with a tracking collar was spotted exploring people's yards.

According to the Herndon Police Department, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is tracking the male yearling.
People should be cautious of the bear, give it some space, and do not approach, police said.

It was confirmed to DC News Now that this black bear was the same bear that was spotted traversing Maryland. On May 26, the bear was first seen hanging out in a tree in someone's yard in Prince George's County before he made his way to another backyard in Bethesda a week later.
The bear was last seen in the 800 block of Elden Street. The block has been shut down in both directions as a result.
Police said anyone who comes into conflict with the bear should call the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources at (855) 571-9003.

Anyone concerned about their DMV records can check their license and registration status, expiration dates, and any suspensions by visiting the DMV's online customer portal. Parents of fallen Morrow County deputy speak out as suspect awaits new court date
MOUNT GILEAD, Ohio (WCMH) – The parents of fallen Morrow County Deputy Daniel 'Weston' Sherrer issued their first public comments since their son was killed during a shootout on Memorial Day. The sheriff's office on Monday released the statement on behalf of Dan and Julie Sherrer, who expressed gratitude to all who reached out to the two of them as well as their daughter and Daniel's fiancée. They thanked the Morrow County community and law enforcement for bringing them comfort during their time of grief. 'Please remember that just like our Weston, law enforcement officers protect us and encounter situations daily that most people fear,' wrote Dan and Julie Sherrer in a statement. 'Yet, they bravely persevere, sometimes making the ultimate sacrifice. Please continue to keep our families in your prayers.' Nevada DMV, NDOT warn of ongoing phone scam targeting drivers
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – After receiving several calls from the public regarding an ongoing driving fee scam, the Nevada Departments of Transportation and Motor Vehicles are asking residents not to respond to the text. Several versions of the scam have been seen across the nation throughout the year. The most recent text scam falsely claims to be from the DMV and that the recipient has an outstanding traffic ticket. The text then asks that the recipients click through to a website to pay and references toll booth fees. NDOT and the DMV want to remind residents that Nevada does not have tolls on public roads, and any claims of toll road fees in the state of Nevada are illegitimate. Some other indicators within the scam messages include a reference to State Administrative Code 15C-16.003, which does not exist. NDOT does not issue traffic or parking citations. The Nevada DMV will also never contact youabout penalties via text message. They will only contact you via mail or email. If you receive a text, do not click on the link and delete the message.
