Tributes to boxer, 28, found murdered in home
Tributes have been paid to a boxer described as 'one in a million' after he was found murdered in a home in Glasgow on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the property on Caldwell Avenue in the Knightswood area of the city at around 3.35pm on Tuesday following reports of concern for a person.
Josh Taplin, 28, was discovered dead inside.
Detectives are treating his death as murder and major enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.
Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.
Tributes have been paid to the amateur boxer, who won the Western District Scottish Championships and British Championships.
Auchengeich Boxing said on Facebook: 'We at Auchengeich Boxing are devastated at hearing the news of our boxer Josh Taplin.
'Josh won Western District Scottish Championships and British Championships. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Josh's family.'
He had also played in the youth ranks at Hamilton Accies and a tribute was paid by amateur Glasgow club AFC Chryston.
A GoFundMe has been set up to support his family with funeral costs, with over £16,000 raised in less than 24 hours.
The post on the page reads: 'Hi my name is Stephen still early days from horrible news the day about Josh going to sort a whip around of funds for the family for his funeral take some pressure off the family at a traumatising time for the them and all us.
'I hope everyone can do their bit and we can do Josh boy proud and get him a send off he deserves.
'Gutted doesn't cut it hope you are all alright as well its heart-breaking.
'There's one Josh Taplin loved and missed by everyone, my hero, my mate.'
Writing on social media, one person said: 'So sad, a diamond of a guy. We got the pleasure to spend a few days with you and the memories will live on.'
Another wrote: 'Can't believe it man, you were one of my best mates Josh,you were genuinely a one in a million, rest easy brother taken far too soon.'
Detective chief inspector Graham McCreadie, of the Major Investigation Team, said: 'Our thoughts are with the family of Josh at what is a very difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.
'It is vital that we find answers for them and we are appealing for information as our enquiries continue.
'If you were in the area at the time and saw anything that could assist with our investigation then please get in touch, no matter how small that piece of information might be.
'In particular, I am asking people to check private CCTV footage and see if anything has been captured that could be important. Likewise, if you were driving in the area and have dash-cam that could assist, please contact us.
'We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider public. Officers remain in the area and anyone with concerns can speak to them.'
Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2069 of Monday, May 5.

An urgent search has been launched to reunite a young girl with epilepsy with her missing therapy dog in the Highlands. Louie, adopted as a therapy dog for his owner Louise Manson's daughter, who lives with epilepsy, ran off after slipping his lead near Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on May 26. Louise has since led an 'emotional and tireless' campaign to find her pet, supported by a Facebook group with over 1,200 members. Louise has expressed overwhelming gratitude for the public's help so far, saying their home 'isn't home without him.' The fundraiser reads: 'A good friend was up Steall Falls in Glen Nevis on Monday May 26 in the evening and her family dog Louie slipped his lead and ran away. Despite numerous hours spent searching by everyone and strangers who have kindly joined in searching Louie has still not been found. 'As many will know the area Louie has run of is very big open spaces with lots of rough terrain and the searches so far have not been successful. 'Organised searches will be sorted soon on the Facebook page. 'Louie is a Golden Retriever and is a lovable, friendly dog, now all the searches have so far not shown anything we now think we could try and raise some funds to help Louise towards paying for specialists to come up with thermal drones. 'Anyone who has a dog will know they are not just an animal, they are part of your family. I cannot imagine how Louise, Charlie ,and the girls are coping.' Court documents seen by KCPQ also reveal that the 32-year-old's phone records show "he drove to and left the same campground a day prior to the kidnapping." There is currently no official port of entry at that part of the border so hikers can freely cross into Canada without detection. The updated release continues to warn the public that he is "considered dangerous and may be armed, call 911 immediately". The pictures taken from a surveillance camera show him walking in a t-shirt, shorts, and sandals with facial hair and a pony tail. Others show close-ups of the distinctive tattoos he has on his arms and ankles. His grieving ex-wife has said that "something broke in him" after he struggled to get help for his mental health issues, insisting he was a good father and never violent to her or the children. Decker's arrest warrant charges him with three counts of first-degree murder and kidnapping.

More than £2,500 is raised for family of ‘beloved' Rhyl man
Christopher Pollitt, known as Poll, was found dead aged 41 at his home in Rhyl on May 28. In his memory, and to support his family, The Glanglasfor pub hosted a special event at its premises last Saturday (June 7). There was live music and karaoke, and a raffle with prizes including a three-hour tattoo session and a £50 bar tab, the latter of which was donated by pub barmaid Emma Roberts. A total of £362 was raised from the event for Mr Pollitt's family. A book of condolences was set up for Chris Pollitt at The Glanglasfor (Image: Submitted) Ms Roberts, who got to know and became friends with Mr Pollitt in the last six months, said: 'We were busy from the minute the doors opened to close. 'It was an amazing day, and the family came down to see us, too, which was lovely. 'He was just a character; we all loved him.' The Glanglasfor said: 'Poll was a regular customer in the pub, and on many days, just came in to stand and make us all laugh with his one liner jokes. 'Poll is going to be sadly missed by many people, including us at the The Glan. "We as a pub are sending all our love to the family at this sad time.' Ms Hayes wrote: 'Chris sadly passed away last week. It has come as a huge, huge shock to us as a family and the whole of Rhyl. 'We have received so much love and comfort from everybody in Rhyl and the surrounding areas, and people have offered extremely kind gestures. 'If you would like to make any donations, it will go towards the day.'
