Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha's 'Silsila' to hit theatres on February 7, Sridevi's 'Chandni' on Valentine's Day in India
Retro cinema lovers are in for a treat as Bollywood cult-classics Silsila, Awara, Aradhana and Chandni are set for re-release in theatres with better picture quality.
The yesteryear cult classics of Bollywood are set to re-release on the big screens with its restored 4K version by the National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission.
Silisila will be released on February 7. It was directed by Yash Chopra and starred Jaya Bachchan, Rekha and Shashi Kapoor in the lead roles.
The film is known for its songs including Dekha Ek Khwab, Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum, and others. It was released in 1981.
The music was composed by Shiv-Hari.
Following its re-release, late actor Sridevi's blockbuster film Chandni will hit the theatres on Valentine's Day.
It was directed by Yash Chopra and starred Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna in lead roles along with Sridevi. It was the third highest-grossing film in 1989.
The performance of Sridevi was widely appreciated by critics and audiences.
Raj Kapoor's crime-drama film Awara is next in the line with its release scheduled on February 21. It will be followed by Rajesh Khanna's Aradhana, which will be re-released in theatres on February 28.
The film has been restored in stunning 4K by NFDC--National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission.

While speculation initially suggested creative differences as the reason behind his decision, Rawal said that was not the case. Hera Pheri 3 is being directed by Priyadarshan, and stars Kumar and Suneil Shetty. Shetty, in an earlier interview to ANI, said he was left "completely heartbroken" after hearing of Rawal's exit from the movie. "... So, I need to call and find out, and I'm completely heartbroken because if there was one film that I was looking forward to, it was Hera Pheri, you know," he said, adding that a third instalment cannot happen without Rawal.

Abu Dhabi's CMA, FilmGate partner to boost production sector, upskill local talent
Abu Dhabi's Creative Media Authority (CMA) has partnered with FilmGate, one of the UAE's leading independent, Emirati-owned and operated production houses, to establish a suite of benefits for the wider production industry in Abu Dhabi. FilmGate will produce a minimum of 15 productions in Abu Dhabi over the next five years, which will employ 50 per cent of production talent from within the CMA's ecosystem. The partnership will also provide extensive learning and development benefits for the ecosystem including annual workshops hosted by FilmGate for the industry on specialist production topics, as well as four- to six-month paid internships every year for young Emirati talent – with a view to providing permanent employment opportunities to grow and nurture talent from within the UAE. Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director-General of Creative Media Authority, said, 'Establishing partnerships with local and regional production leaders is a key element of our industry development strategy to make Abu Dhabi a global content hub. Alongside attracting the major Hollywood and Bollywood productions, it is critical that we support and increase the Arab content produced in Abu Dhabi to ensure we are building an ecosystem where Emirati and wider Arab narratives can thrive.' Dobay added, 'The partnerships we are curating are designed to deliver unrivalled opportunities throughout the ecosystem, from employment for our 1000 plus registered freelancers to intern opportunities for our young creatives; these partnerships support on all levels.' Founded by leading Emirati filmmaker Mansoor Al Yahbouni Al Dhaheri, FilmGate will also benefit from the recent update on the rebate offered by Abu Dhabi Film Commission where qualifying productions now can apply for cashback on production and post-production spend starting at 35 per cent up to 50 per cent based on meeting a clear set of criteria. Sonali Bendre opens up about Salman Khan's unwavering support during her cancer journey
Actor Sonali Bendre recently opened up about her evolving equation with co-star Salman Khan and how the actor surprised her with his heartfelt support during one of the most difficult phases of her life, her battle with cancer. In a candid conversation with ANI, Bendre reflected on how her impression of Khan transformed over the years. Recalling their time on the sets of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', she shared that the two were far from being close back then. "Let me put it mildly, we were not the best of friends at the time," she said, adding that Salman's mischievous side often got under her skin. "I have had my close-ups when he's standing behind the camera, making faces at me. At that point, I was most offended, like, what is this behaviour?" she recalled. But time, as Bendre revealed, brought perspective and understanding. "Salman is like a child, and everything about him is to the extreme, even his care and concern," she said. This side of Khan became evident years later, when Bendre was undergoing treatment for metastatic cancer in the United States. Recounting the period, she revealed that Salman personally visited her in New York, not once, but twice, and was actively involved in ensuring she was receiving the best medical care. "He called up my husband Goldie [Behl] and asked, 'Are you sure you've got the right doctors? You should speak to these doctors too,' and even shared contacts. He wanted to make sure we had ticked every box," she shared, adding, "It was like he had taken on the role of an elder from the fraternity, making sure everything was in place." This show of empathy deeply touched Bendre, who admitted she hadn't expected such a gesture from someone she initially misunderstood. "I've had my issues with him, but I've grown to appreciate that side of him," she said. Salman Khan and Sonali Bendre starred together in the 1999 family drama 'Hum Saath Saath Hain', where she played Preeti, the on-screen wife of Khan's character Prem. Directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya, the film was a commercial blockbuster and remains one of the most beloved family entertainers of its time. Today, Bendre stands as a cancer survivor and advocate for awareness. Diagnosed in 2018, she underwent extensive treatment in the US and emerged victorious. Since then, she has used her platform to educate others and share her journey of strength and recovery. On the professional front, she recently made her OTT debut with ZEE5's 'The Broken News', portraying journalist Amina Qureshi.
