
Julius Baer Sees Consumption Revival in India Taking Stocks to Record High
Julius Baer Group is expecting Indian stocks to hit a new high in the second half of the fiscal year, as domestic consumption recovers.
'The biggest theme going forward will be a revival in consumption in India,' Nitin Raheja, head of discretionary equities at Julius Baer India, said in an interview. One third of his portfolio is in consumption-linked themes and he's increasing bets on retailers focused on tier-two cities and apparel firms.

By and Valentine Hilaire Save Grupo Coppel SA, Mexico's largest private retailer, will spend 80 billion pesos ($4.2 billion) over five years on investments including a new e-commerce platform to double the portion of digital transactions to 20% of total sales. Private Credit in India Is Closing Deals — And Its Eyes
India is a sizzling market for private credit, though some participants are wondering if in their eagerness to close deals, investors are shutting their eyes to risks, especially the legal minefields around collateral and bankruptcy. A decade ago, India's banks were struggling with the world's biggest load of soured corporate loans. At about $200 billion, the write-offs on that exposure have been large.
