Key defensive line target schedules official visit with FSU
The FSU Seminoles have received some great news in their efforts to land an elite defensive lineman.
Four-star defensive tackle James Johnson, a Miami native, has locked in an official visit with the Seminoles for June 15, according to Zach Blostein of Noles247. His last visit to Tallahassee was in January, when he attended a Junior Day event.
Johnson is the No. 71 overall player and No. 8 defensive lineman in the 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder is also the No. 10 player from Florida.
He had an extremely productive junior season for North Fort Myers High School. In nine games, Johnson made 60 tackles, 29.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, and recovered two fumbles.
The Seminoles are facing some steep competition for Johnson, who is the top defensive lineman in the state of Florida. He is also set to take official visits to see the Illinois Fighting Illini, Penn State Nittany Lions, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Georgia Bulldogs, and Syracuse Orange.
FSU has nine players committed in its 2026 recruiting class, eight of whom are from Florida. However, none of them play along the defensive line and Johnson would become their highest-ranked commit, were he to pick the Seminoles.

Khary Wilder had many other top programs pursuing him but after spending a weekend at Ohio State and talking through the plan with that exceptional coaching staff, the four-star defensive end found his new home. On Tuesday, the four-star defensive end from Gardena (Calif.) Serra committed to the Buckeyes and is not planning any other visits. 'It was just seeing how much of a priority I am for them,' Wilder said. 'Spending time with coach (Larry) Johnson and coach (Ryan) Day, coach (Matt) Patricia and all the coaches, they made me feel like a real priority and like I was really wanted there and that was the place I could call home. 'It was great meeting them. It was great sitting down and hearing their plan for me to dominate throughout my college years, how they see me fitting, my skill set and what I can work on and how I can build on my game to even before I get there and while I'm there, too. 'Coach Johnson was giving me tips and drills on what I could work on now for little things about my game that I could perfect and do better.' Wilder has always had dreams of playing in the pros and the four-star defensive end who shined at the Rivals Camp in Los Angeles and will be at the Rivals Five-Star in a couple weeks is fully aware of all the success the Buckeyes have had across the board especially along the defensive line. He wants to be the next one. 'The NFL has always been the goal, that's been my dream, so seeing coach Johnson and Ohio State's track record of producing top-level d-linemen and NFL defensive ends, just seeing that really motivates me and encourages me,' Wilder said. 'If I'm a priority for them and they want me to come and they see me fitting and playing in their system and they're putting out so many NFL guys at my position, that's one step closer to my dream.' Notre Dame, Washington and UCLA were the other frontrunners but once Wilder finished his Ohio State visit, he knew what he was going to do. 'It was really hard to say no to all of them because they all spent time building a great relationship with me, reaching out, talking to my coaches and my family and making me feel like a priority, too,' Wilder said. 'It was a decision I had to make but I feel very confident in my decision with coach Johnson and coach Day and coach Patricia and their plan for me.'

MSU target, 3-star DL Gavin Neil picks up offer from Boston College A Michigan State defensive lineman target is gaining some traction on the recruiting trail, with a power four school extending him an offer this week. Gavin Neil of Chicago Heights, Ill. announced on Tuesday that he's received an offer from Boston College. Neil posted on his social media X account to share the notable offer from the Eagles. Neil is a three-star defensive lineman in the 2026 class, and holds a recruiting rating of 86 on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 140 defensive lineman and No. 34 player from Illinois in the class. Michigan State and Boston College are the only two power four conference schools to offer Neil at this point in his recruitment, according to 247Sports. He holds other offers from smaller schools such as Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Marshall, Wyoming, Air Force, Army and Northern Illinois. Neil is set to take an official visit to Michigan State on June 20, and is currently projected to end up a Spartan via 247Sports' crystal ball predictions. So this latest offer from Boston College could threaten the Spartans' chances of landing his commitment later this month.
