'Source from India' feature on Trade Connect ePlatform made available for all status holder exporters
New Delhi [India], June 15 (ANI): The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has made available 'Source from India' micropage hosting service on the 'Trade Connect ePlatform' to all status holder exporters.
Trade Connect ePlatform (www.trade.gov.in) was launched earlier to serve as a comprehensive hub of information and services on international trade with all related stakeholders, including Indian Missions Abroad, Export Promotion Councils, EXIM Bank, Department of Commerce, and DGFT.
'Source from India' is a flagship feature on the Trade Connect ePlatform, which was introduced to be a one-stop reference point for international buyers to discover accomplished Indian exporters from whom to source.
The feature allows exporters to create their own macrophages, where they can provide their product details and their entity's credentials.
'Micropages of the exporters are publicly made visible on 'Source from India' page of Trade Connect ePlatform (https://www.trade.gov.in/pages/sourcefrom-india) once approved,' according to DGFT.
To start with, Three-, Four- and Five-star Manufacturer exporters had been previously invited to create their 'Source from India' micropages on a pilot basis.
'It is now informed that the Source from India micropage hosting service on Trade Connect ePlatform will be available to all Status Holder exporters (with valid Import Export Code not in (Denied Entity List)). Further broad basing of availability of the service to other IEC holders will be done going forward and changes will be notified once implemented,' DGFT said this week in a notification.
As per the DGFT definition, Status Holders are business leaders who have excelled in international trade and have successfully contributed to the country's foreign trade.
DGFT said Indian missions abroad have also been duly sensitised to use 'Source from India' as a reference point for addressing the sourcing needs of foreign buyers who approach the missions with requests to help find Indian suppliers for various products.
Export Promotion Councils and Industry associations are also requested to inform their members about the same and encourage participation of all eligible members. (ANI)

Working with other Tata group firms to assist crash victims' kin: Air India
The solemn process of handing over the mortal remains of the 241 passengers and crew members killed in the Air India crash is currently underway, the airline said on Sunday. Over 400 family members of the deceased have gathered in Ahmedabad, where the airline has stationed teams to assist them. 'Every affected family in Ahmedabad has been assigned at least one caregiver by Air India,' the airline said in a statement posted on X on Sunday evening, adding that it was coordinating with Tata Group companies and government authorities to support the bereaved and facilitate repatriation where required. Air India reiterated that its priority remains extending assistance to the families. 'We have established contact with the next of kin/relatives of all passengers and crew members… Over 400 family members have reached Ahmedabad and are being assisted by our teams on the ground,' it said. The airline also acknowledged the contribution of multiple government agencies and hospital staff in Ahmedabad. 'We extend our profound gratitude to the Central and State Governments for their unwavering and exceptional support… and our heartfelt appreciation to the faculty, staff, students, and associates of Civil Hospital and Rajasthan Hospital in Ahmedabad for their tireless efforts,' it noted. The crash of Flight AI171, operating a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from Ahmedabad to London, occurred on Thursday afternoon shortly after take-off. It is one of the deadliest accidents involving an Indian carrier in the last few decades. The airline said it remains 'fully cooperative' with the ongoing investigation and will continue to share updates as verified information becomes available. Friends and Relatives Assistance Centres remain functional at Ahmedabad and Mumbai airports, and Air India has also provided hotline numbers for those seeking information. On Saturday, Air India announced an interim financial assistance of ₹25 lakh (approximately £21,000) for each family of the deceased and the lone survivor. This is in addition to the ₹1 crore (approximately £85,000) financial support announced earlier by Tata Sons. Meanwhile, the airline is conducting one-time safety checks on its entire Boeing 787 fleet as mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). These checks are being performed as the aircraft return to India and are cleared for their next operations. 'Nine of the Boeing 787 aircraft have been checked so far. We are on track to complete the process for the remaining 24 aircraft within the regulator's timeline,' the airline said on Saturday evening. It warned that some of the checks may cause longer turnaround times and potential delays, especially on long-haul routes to airports with curfews. A high-level, multidisciplinary committee led by Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan was constituted on Friday to conduct a comprehensive review of the AI171 crash. The committee includes senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Home Affairs, Gujarat state government, Indian Air Force, Intelligence Bureau, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). Unlike the technical probe being carried out by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), this panel is expected to take a holistic view, examining standard operating procedures, safety regulations and emergency response coordination across central and state agencies. It will also liaise with international investigative bodies as needed.

Wind energy at centre of India's strategy for renewable energy sector: Pralhad Joshi
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 15 (ANI): On the occasion of Global Wind Day 2025, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi addressed a conference of stakeholders in Bengaluru today and said that Wind Energy is at the centre of India's strategy for the renewable energy sector. Joshi said that India needs energy to become a global manufacturing hub, whether it is solar, wind, or other forms. India has achieved 51.5 GW wind capacity, 150 per cent growth in a decade and is now exporting turbines and components globally, Minister Joshi said. 'We are moving steadily towards the 100 GW wind target by 2030, including 30 GW from offshore projects, backed by strong policy reforms and a robust manufacturing ecosystem,' he added. Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik and the Energy Minister in the Government of Karnataka, KG George, were also present on this occasion. 'Our national goals are ambitious and clear: 50 per cent of our power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, and a net-zero India by 2070. Wind energy is central to achieving these goals. Wind energy is not a component of our renewable energy strategy, but it is at the heart of it and at the centre of Atma Nirbhar Bharat,' said the minister. Underlining the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Joshi said, 'Narendra Modi gave us a vision to have 'renewable energy for manufacturing and conventional energy for household consumption'.' India's manufacturing capacity is increasing, and it will continue to increase. PM's vision stresses upon the importance of renewable energy production, storage and usage, so that once India becomes a global manufacturing hub in near future, it should be able to fulfill the energy demands of the manufacturing sector through renewable energy sources, said the minister. India has the huge potential in the renewable energy sector as it has globally the fourth largest wind power installed capacity and iis third largest renewable energy producer. 'No one had thought that India would become the third largest manufacturer of renewable energy in 10 years, but today it is a reality,' said the minister. The minister underlined the 3 key issues for the Wind Energy sector saying, 'First, we must combine wind with solar and storage (BESS) to deliver round-the-clock power and grid stability. Second, tariffs must be competitive. A rate of Rs 3.90 per unit is too high; we must work together to reduce costs. Third, domestic manufacturing must become more efficient, not just to meet our own targets, but to boost exports.' Underlining the dedicated efforts from the Centre to unleash the potential of the renewable energy sector, Joshi said, 'The Government is backing this sector with full seriousness. This year's renewable energy budget has gone up by 53 per cent, to Rs 26,549 crore, with a large share directed to wind.' 'The transition to renewables is inevitable. States must lead this transition. Land availability and transmission delays have to be overcome. This is not the time for hesitation, it is the time for execution,' the minister added. The Minister said, ' I am happy to note that India is manufacturing wind turbines ranging from 225 kW to 5.2 MW, with 33 models being produced by 14 companies. These turbines meet our domestic needs and are also cost-competitive globally.' The Minister further added that to fully unlock national wind potential, a coordinated national push is needed. 'That is why we are focusing on 5 priorities: Expanding into new states like Madhya Pradesh,Telangana, and Odisha; Launching the offshore sector with 4 GW of leasing areas identified in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu and tenders being readied; Integrating wind into round-the-clock and firm green power strategies, through storage-linked business models; Modernising the grid, investing in AI-based forecasting to manage variable renewable energy; and Boosting local manufacturing across the entire wind value chain,' he said. Union Minister Joshi also released reports on Wind Energy Roadmap and Manufacturing Roadmap at the event. He said that the documents will serve as guiding frameworks for our journey ahead and reflect our collective ambition, strategic thinking, and commitment to building a strong and Aatmanirbhar wind energy ecosystem in India. Best performing States in terms of Wind Capacity addition were also felicitated at the event. Karnataka was first with a wind capacity addition of 1331.48 MW followed by Tamil Nadu (1136.37 MW) and Gujarat (954.76 MW). India meets a sizable portion of its energy needs through fossil fuels, and various renewable energy sources, including wind energy, are seen as an avenue to reduce dependence on conventional sources of power. Green energy for climate mitigation is not just a focus area for India; it has gained momentum globally. At COP26 held in 2021, India committed to an ambitious five-part 'Panchamrit' pledge. They included reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity, generating half of all energy requirements from renewables, and reducing emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030. India as a whole also aims to reduce the emissions intensity of GDP by 45 per cent. Finally, India commits to net-zero emissions by 2070. (ANI)
