NYT ‘Connections' Hints And Answers For Sunday, August 10th
New York Times Connections Guide Sunday August 10th
Looking for a little help with your Sunday Connections puzzle? The New York Times has given us a pretty tricky one today, so if you're looking for extra clues – or the answers – you've come to the right place. Below you'll find an extra set of clues, the categories for each group and, finally, the solution to today's puzzle.
It's another lovely weekend in August, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't itching for some cooler weather at this point. It's been hot with nary a cloud in the sky, and all I'm asking for is a little rain. Or a lot of rain. Moisture of any kind would be lovely. Then again, in a few months when snow is piled high and it's too cold to go outside, I'll be pining for summer sun. We always want what we can't have.
Be sure to check out my streaming guide if you're looking for some new shows or movies to check out this weekend. There's a lot of good stuff out at the beginning of the month.

In any case, we have a Connections to solve, so let's group some words!
Connections is the second-most popular NYT Games puzzle game outside of the main crossword itself, and an extremely fun, free offering that will get your brain moving every day. Play it right here.
The goal is to take a group of 16 words and find links between four pairs of four of them. They could be specific categories of terms, or they could be little world puzzles where words may come before or after them you need to figure out. And they get more complicated from there.
There is only one set of right answers for this, and you only get a certain number of tries so you can't just spam around until you find something. There are difficulty tiers coded by color, which will usually go from yellow, blue/green to purple as difficulty increases, so know that going in and when you start linking them together.
You pick the four words you think are linked and either you will get a solve and a lit up row that shows you how you were connected. If you're close, it will tell you that you're one away. Again, four mistakes you lose, but if you want to know the answers without failing, either come here, or delete your web cookies and try again. If you want to play more puzzles, you can get an NYT Games subscription to access the full archives of all past puzzles.
These are the hints that are laid out on the puzzle board itself, but after that, we will get into spoiler territory with some hints and eventually the answers. First, here are today's Connections words:
Alright, the full spoilers follow here as we get into what the groups are today:
The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow if you do not want to get this far. The Connections answers are:
This was definitely a trickier NYT Connections than I've seen the past few Sundays. I started off with my own area of expertise: Fiction. As soon as I saw PULP and HISTORICAL I was pretty sure we were talking about pulp fiction and historical fiction, and it was just a matter of looking for a couple more words that fit. FAN fiction and SCIENCE fiction did the trick. Blue group was done in a jiffy.
From here, I was less certain. CONCENTRATE and JUICE seemed to go together. And you get CALCIUM from orange juice. I also thought some of the words might fit with measurements, like WEIGHT and GROUP. Eventually, I gathered the green words together: CLUSTER, COLLECT, CONCENTRATE and GROUP are all words about focusing or amassing a quantity. Green group done.
The last two were confusing, mostly because I really wasn't sure how something like CHEMISE fit into the picture. That's a type of nightwear or lingerie. I thought it might be medical stuff – CALCIUM and WEIGHT and so forth, but that still didn't fit. Finally, I realized that JUICE, PULL, SWAY and WEIGHT all could mean types of influence you hold or carry. I have juice with the dock workers, and pull with the wise guys down at the bar and hold sway over the shop owners, and my word carries weight with the politicians. That sort of thing. That only left purple.
These were, as always, the trickiest of the bunch because they literally have nothing to do with one another. A BIOPIC is a movie about someone's life. TRIGLYCERIDEs are a type of fat, or lipid, found in the blood. But each one has the same first few letters as an abbreviated math or science class: BIOlogy, CALCulus, CHEMistry, TRIGonometry. You refer to these classes as bio, calc, chem and trig for short.
All told, a reasonably challenging puzzle! How did you do?

‘South Park' Creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone Ink New 5-Year Overall Deal; Paramount+ Becomes Show's Global Streaming Home
With just hours to spare before South Park's Season 27 premiere tonight, the show's future has been locked in for the next five years. Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a new five-year overall deal with Paramount Global through their company Park County. Additionally, South Park Digital Studios, the joint venture behind the animated hit co-owned by Paramount and Park County, has entered into an exclusive five-year license deal with Paramount+, reportedly worth $1.5 billion. More from Deadline 'South Park' Nears Streaming Deal With Paramount+, Paving Way For Show's Return To Comedy Central; Trey Parker & Matt Stone Eye New Overall Deal 'South Park' Creators Slam Proposed Paramount-Skydance Merger, Saying 'It's F***ing Up' Their Show Stephen Colbert Praises 'South Park's Naked AI Trump PSA: "An Important Message Of Hope" The pacts cover 50 new episodes over five seasons and all 26 previous seasons of South Park, which will continue on Comedy Central and be available on Paramount+. That includes Paramount+ becoming the U.S. streaming home for the South Park library and all new episodes, kicking off with Season 27 whose episodes will be available on Paramount+ the day after their Comedy Central premiere. The show also will return to Paramount+ internationally after being removed amid contractual disputes with Parker and Stone that stretched beyond the previous licensing agreement's expiration date. The South Park library, which had been exclusive to HBO Max in the U.S. for the past five years, will be available on Paramount+ domestically and internationally this afternoon. There had been talks for the show to continue on HBO Max on a non-exclusive basis, which ultimately didn't pan out. The first 26 seasons will remain on the Warner Bros Discovery streamer until Aug. 5. 'Matt and Trey are singular, creative forces whose fearless humor and boundary pushing storytelling have made South Park one of the most beloved and enduring series ever — more popular today than at any point in its history, and one of the most valuable TV franchises in the world,' said Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global and president of Showtime/MTV Entertainment. 'They are exceptional talents and trusted partners – we're thrilled that Comedy Central and now Paramount+ globally will be the home to South Park for years to come and our thanks to the Skydance team for their vital partnership in making this happen.' The deals mark an end to lengthy negotiations between Paramount and the South Park creators that became acrimonious amid Paramount's pending acquisition by Skydance, resulting in Parker and Stone threatening legal action against Paramount's incoming owner and president Jeff Shell alleging interference in the streaming rights negotiations, including a five-year licensing term vs. a 10-year one favored by the duo, who also reportedly had been seeking a 10-year extension to their overall deal. The new overall pact, rumored to be worth $250 million a year, replaces Parker and Stone's existing six-year, $900 million overall agreement signed in 2021, which was to keep South Park on Comedy Central with new episodes through 2027. The extension, which will span from 2026 through 2030, aligns the duo's overall deal with the new South Park streaming pact. Some from the money from the new overall and streaming pacts is expected to go towards repaying the $800 million loan Park County took in 2023 from private equity firm the Carlyle Group. Parker and Stone, who didn't mince words during the standoff that pushed South Park's Season 27 premiere from July 9 to July 23, saying earlier this month that 'this merger is a sh*tshow and is f*cking up South Park,' were gracious and diplomatic in their comments on the new deals. 'Trey and I and the whole South Park crew are grateful for this extension and this deal. We want to thank Chris McCarthy and Keyes Hill-Edgar for years of great partnership and are looking forward to continuing to make South Park for the next five years,' said Stone, referencing Hill-Edgar, who is COO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment. Added Parker, 'We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honored by the trust placed in us. This is about more than a contract — it's about our commitment to this organization, our teammates, and our fans. We're focused on building something special and doing whatever it takes to bring championships to this city.' South Park launched on Comedy Central on August 13, 1997. Parker, Stone, Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II are the executive producers. Eric Stough, Adrien Beard, Bruce Howell and Vernon Chatman are producers. Christopher Brion is the creative director of South Park Digital Studios.
