The
St. Louis Cardinals
appeared to be facing an ugly season when they fell to 14-19 in early May. But things have altered quickly. The Cardinals have won 12 of their last 13 games since hitting that nadir, capped by a nine-game winning streak. They trail first-place Chicago by just one game in the NL Central and are in the playoff hunt again with strong momentum.
John Mozeliak's last season might alter deadline strategies
John Mozeliak
's last season on the job as head of baseball operations might alter how the Cardinals approach the trade deadline. The Cardinals have informed other clubs that they might not trade away their assets even if they aren't division leaders, ESPN's Buster Olney reported. The team's strong performance has led them to reconsider selling.

Players such as Ryan Helsley, Miles Mikolas, Phil Maton, Steven Matz, and Erick Fedde have all been talked about as potential trade chips. Helsley particularly might return some elite young players. But if the team continues to win, they might opt to retain those players for a playoff push.

John Mozeliak's Cardinals might become buyers, not sellers
The St. Louis Cardinals were once expected to be relegated to the sidelines of this year's postseason battle, but their surprising turnaround in recent weeks has made them one of the league's strongest teams. Their offense has been an all-around powerhouse, piling up high-scoring runs, and their pitching staff has shown a superb capacity to keep opponents at bay.
If this exceptional momentum continues, management may need to reevaluate their strategy, potentially leaning towards acquiring new talent instead of offloading existing players. The shift in their trajectory has certainly ignited discussions about bolstering the roster as they aim for a playoff berth.
They have a few of their worthiest players that would be traded if they get behind down the stretch of the season. But for now, the Cardinals are appearing as more buyers than sellers. While Mozeliak finishes out his last year at the helm and the team is winning games, St. Louis is now a team to monitor as the trade deadline approaches.

Study to map gaps in mass transit system plan as new metro corridor taking shape in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has decided to conduct a traffic study to evaluate whether the existing metro and public transport plans sufficiently address current and future needs. HMRTC has floated a tender for a study, which will be undertaken by a consultant agency expected to be onboarded shortly, with completion targeted within four months. An HMRTC official said, "With new residential sectors, industrial hubs and commercial zones developing, it is the right time to reassess metro accessibility and future needs." The missing links — as HMRTC calls it — will be assessed for their ridership potential, feasibility, estimated cost and integration with existing infrastructure. The consultant will "review" existing public transport services, including bus operations and para-transit networks and their role in supporting or limiting metro connectivity. The consultant will prepare detailed projections for travel needs for the next 30 years. The HMRTC official said the review is essential, as many parts of the city — especially peripheral and newly developing sectors — remain outside the metro's reach. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo "The study will also help pinpoint potential new corridors that could complement existing plans, plug critical gaps and expand metro coverage in underserved areas," the official said. The decision comes amid rapid urban expansion, growing population and expanding residential and commercial zones. As of now, the city has only 17km of metro (5.3km of Delhi Metro's Yellow Line and 11.7km of Rapid Metro). The new Millennium City Centre-Cyber City line, approved in 2023, is now in the tendering stage for Phase 1 (MCC to Sector 9). While there is no official figure for the current population, estimates suggest the city has crossed 25 lakh and by 2031, the Gurugram-Manesar Urban Complex (GMUC) area is projected to accommodate over 42.5 lakh residents. The study will map existing metro connectivity and identify new corridors. HMRTC believes the current metro expansion plan "needs a comprehensive review to accommodate shifting travel patterns and emerging growth centres", an official said. Each proposed corridor will be mapped digitally, with tentative station locations and phase-wise implementation plans. HMRTC's study, which comes amid the city's worsening traffic congestion and inadequate public transport, will focus on the master plan of GMUC. It aims to plug connectivity gaps in the Comprehensive Mobility Management Plan (CMMP) drafted in 2020. The CMMP in 2020 proposed a 200km network of metro and rapid rail corridors. Of the ten Mass Rapid Transit System lines, only one corridor — 29.05km between Millennium City Centre and Cyber Hub — is currently under implementation. Others, such as Sector 56–Pachgaon via Manesar, Bhondsi–Sohna Chowk–Railway Station and Golf Course Extension Road–Millennium City Centre–Sector 5, are still in the planning stages.

Last Updated: Shaw opened the innings for North Mumbai Panthers on Sunday and, with the help of 12 fours and three sixes, scored 75 runs from 34 balls. Prithvi Shaw is back with a bang! The 25-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai, who went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auctions last year, hammered 75 runs from just 34 balls for North Mumbai Panthers in the T20 Mumbai match played against Triumphs Knights MNE on Sunday, June 8. Shaw opened the innings for North Mumbai Panthers at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai and smacked 12 fours and three sixes during his stay at the crease. He added 62 runs for the second wicket with Arjun Jaiswal (9 from 12 balls) and 30 runs for the third wicket with Harshal Jadhav (46 runs from 30 balls) before being sent back to the pavilion by Suryansh Shedge on the fifth ball of the 10th over. Shaw's attacking show with the bat helped his team post a total of 207 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets, which in the end proved to be enough to win the match. Shaw, who has played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20I for India since making his international debut against the West Indies in October 2018, overall has 137 runs to his name in five matches played so far in T20 Mumbai 2025. Shaw kicked off the season by scoring 5 runs from four balls in the match which his team lost by 40 runs against NaMo Bandra Blasters at Wankhede Stadium on June 4, and in the next fixture against SoBo Mumbai Falcons, Shaw made 5 runs from 11 balls, and his side once again suffered a defeat, this time by nine wickets. In North Mumbai Panthers' third match of the season, Shaw made 33 runs from 23 balls with the help of four fours and one six and helped his side secure a five-wicket win over ARCS Andheri at Wankhede Stadium on June 6. Shaw's team finished fourth in the league stage and will now face SoBo Mumbai Falcons in the second semifinal match of T20 Mumbai on June 10 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
