And, just like that, the New York Knicks' backs are against the wall.
After blowing a cushy 14-point lead with 2:45 in regulation, Jalen Brunson and co. ended up losing game one of the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals in overtime to the fiery Indiana Pacers by a score of 138-135 at NYC's rowdy Madison Square Garden.
Tyrese Haliburton's two-pointer — which would have been a three but his Puma sneaker was on the line — that sent the game into overtime was the ultimate dagger. Throw in the fact that the All-Star guard replicated Reggie Miller's iconic 'choke' pose after making the improbable shot and the heated series is tenser than ever.

If you want to be there to see if the Knicks have what it takes to even the fierce series at home along with courtside celebs like Timotheé Chalamet, Jon Hamm, Busta Rhymes, Martha Stewart and Ben Stiller to name just a few, last-minute tickets are still available for game two at MSG on Friday, May 23.
At the time of publication, the lowest price to get into the building was $644 including fees on Vivid Seats.

About Knicks-Pacers series
In 2024, Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers came back from a 2-0 deficit to take down a hobbled Knicks club in the Eastern Conference Semifinals to win in seven games. One series later, they ended up getting swept the mighty Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

This year, the rivals met three times during the regular season.
To start 2024-25, the Knicks and Pacers met in the first game of the season on Oct. 25, 2024. After last year's crushing game seven loss, New York came in hot and notched a 123-98 win, outscoring Indiana 36-21 and 34-19 in the second and third quarters, respectively. Brunson scored 26 while KAT grabbed 15 boards.
Their second matchup went Indiana's way when second-string shooting guard Bennedict Mathurin exploded for 38 points leading the Pacers to a convincing 132-121 victory on Nov. 10, 2024.
Finally, on Feb. 11, the foes faced off in Indianapolis. The Knicks walked away with a statement 128-115 victory behind a 40-point effort from Karl-Anthony Towns and strong showings from backups Precious Achiuwa and Cam Payne.

Most recently, the clubs met in the aforementioned first game of the Eastern Conference Finals. New York and Indiana yo-yo'd back and forth throughout the first four quarters before the Knicks broke away with a commanding lead as time ticked away.
Then, Indiana caught lightning in a bottle. For the next 2:50, Tyrese Haliburton and Andrew Nesmith chipped away at New York's advantage from behind the arc until they were down by two with seven seconds left. Haliburton took the ball up the floor, backpedaled to what he thought was the three-point line and threw up a prayer. The basketball bounced off the rim high above the backboard and…nothing but net.
Overtime was close and the Knicks certainly had chances but both Brunson and Towns couldn't hit a three to tie the game and send the crazy contest into a second OT. Heartbreak hotel.

Rays' Shane McClanahan throws off mound; timeline for return is forming
TAMPA —Shane McClanahan could be in line to rejoin the Rays rotation as soon as late July, baseball operations president Erik Neander told MLB Network Radio. McClanahan, 28, is back to full strength and throwing regularly in his return from a triceps nerve issue that has sidelined him since late in spring training. The two-time All-Star will have to work through a progression of mound sessions, then live batting practice and a series of rehab games likely starting in late June. 'Where does that lead?' OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Indiana Pacers' arrival in Oklahoma City for the NBA Finals has been delayed by weather. Forecasters issued a tornado warning, flood watch and severe thunderstorm watch for Oklahoma City and much of the surrounding areas on Tuesday afternoon, all while the Pacers' charter flight was in the air. The flight was diverted to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and refueled, and the team was planning to arrive in Oklahoma City later Tuesday evening. Oklahoma City's airport arrivals and departures were interrupted by heavy rain and wind. The Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder are scheduled to appear at the NBA Finals media day on Wednesday at the arena that will host Game 1 of the title series on Thursday night. There was at least one tornado spotted in Norman, Oklahoma, near the University of Oklahoma campus, on Tuesday afternoon. It was not immediately known if the tornado touched down or caused any damage.
