British couple die after Ferrari plunges off mountain in Spain
A British couple have died after their Ferrari plunged off a mountain highway into a river in northern Spain.
Pictures show the wrecked black supercar in the Yuso River in Boca de Huergano, on Saturday.
The couple, aged 78 and 58, are said to have been part of a large group of about 20 other Ferrari owners taking part in a rally.
Local media outlets said the pair had been driving along a scenic highway, the N-621, prior to the fatal accident.
Emergency operations took up to six hours after crews arrived on the scene.
Police have not yet named the couple.
It is not known whether they died from the impact of the crash or drowned in the river.
Jose Antonio Gutierrez Sampedro, a local resident, said: 'A Ferrari 488 with 700 horsepower needs to be handled carefully. Maybe the driver suffered a medical emergency. Such a sad way to lose your life.'

It has been a difficult season so far for the Brit, despite the early high of a maiden Ferrari victory in the Chinese Grand Prix Sprint race. He later added a podium in the second Sprint of the year in Miami, but his Grand Prix results have been underwhelming. His best Sunday result so far in 2025 was fourth in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, a superb comeback drive which delighted the Tifosi gathered at Imola. But it has been difficult other than that and, after finishing sixth in Barcelona last time out, the seven-time F1 champion said it was one of the worst races he had experienced. Hamilton also said the problem is "probably just me", hinting that he might himself be worrying about whether he remains at the top of his game. He turned 40 in January and will be nearly 42 by the end of the 2026 campaign, for which he is already contracted. And former Ferrari team principal Binotto said he thinks the Brit's age is a problem. "Hamilton is of a certain age. Ferrari took him when he was already at the end of his career. The ideal would have been to have him a few years earlier," he told Italian publication Automoto. Binotto was axed by Ferari at the end of the 2022 season after four years as team principal. It brought to an end nearly 30 years of his service to the Maranello squad, having joined in 1995 as an engineer and worked his way up the ranks. He then briefly served as interim team principal earlier this year until Jonathan Wheatley started work on April 1, and is now the official head of the whole project, leading the Audi outfit alongside Wheatley. Binotto still wants to see his former employer do well as both an ex-employee and an Italian F1 fan. And, despite his obvious misgivings about Hamilton, the 55-year-old said he still has faith that the Scuderia can get back on track. He said: "From the outside, perhaps one shouldn't even judge. It's clear that the performance on the track and the results are not good at the moment. "However, I know every single member of that team very well and I know that they are good, strong and capable. They will be able to improve the car and do well in the future and I believe that Ferrari can get some satisfaction this year."

McLaren team principle Andrea Stella has urged Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to be open and vocal about any concerns stemming from their internal-team battle. The Italian boss of the team is keen to ensure that a potential rivalry between the drivers remains healthy and constructive rather than damaging McLaren's broader ambitions, as the duo vie for the drivers' title. Piastri currently leads his teammate by 10 points at the top of the standings. The call for transparency comes after a recent incident at the Spanish Grand Prix where Piastri described Norris as 'cheeky', after Norris appeared to benefit from a tow provided by his teammate during Q3, leading to surprise and confusion from the Australian driver. However, any irritation that Piastri felt was quickly put to rest when he beat the Brit to pole position. Stella insists that having two competitive drivers fighting at the front is not a problem. Norris initially refused until, with three laps to go, he relented and allowed Piastri to pass, with the Australian going on to claim his first grand prix victory. Their extra pace this season has been clear, with Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari all trailing the McLarens. Max Verstappen is the nearest rival in the drivers' standings, 49 points behind leader Piastri and 39 from Norris. The season resumes this weekend with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, the 10th of 24 rounds, before returning to Europe for races in Austria, Britain, Belgium and Hungary.

No injuries after tractor overturns on A259 in Angmering
There were no injuries after a tractor carrying fertiliser overturned in West Sussex on Tuesday, police have 21:00 BST Sussex Police responded to a report that the tractor had overturned on the A259 Roundstone Bypass in road was closed in both directions while the chemical was cleared from the scene, Sussex Police said. By 04:30 the road was fully reopened.
