Amazon shoppers hail 'easy to build' 4-piece patio furniture set now 37% off

Daily Record08-05-2025

"If I was able to put it together, and being an 80 year old female, it must be a doddle for a younger person."
Scots have been enjoying some much-needed sun lately, as temperatures soared last week. In fact, the mercury reached a peak of 24.4C in Aboyne in Aberdeenshire last Wednesday, April 30, on the hottest day of the year so far.
It's safe to say that summer is officially on the way, and with it comes the urge to revamp garden furniture. Shoppers browsing a new patio furniture set need look no further than a generously discounted four-piece suite on Amazon.
The online retailer's Bigzzia Rattan Garden Furniture Set is currently on an offer of 37 per cent off, with its price tag slashed from a steep £179.99 to much more affordable £113.04. The black four-piece patio set includes a stylish wicker sofa, two armchairs, and a table.
This Rattan Garden Furniture Set can be used both indoors and outdoors, and its classic rattan weave texture blends perfectly with most styles of home.
The design of this rattan furniture "blends country chic and modern minimalism", according to Amazon, to add an elegant touch to the garden.
The table top is made of high-quality strong glass, made to last well on rainier or windier days - which of course are common in Scotland.
Its table and chairs come complete with water-proof cushions, which are also perfect for resisting temperamental Scottish weather or drink spillages.
But those in the market for alternatives to Amazon's set may be intrigued by Argos' Home Four Seater Rattan Effect Garden Sofa Set for a pricier £320.
While more expensive, this four-seater sofa boasts a classy look and includes back cushions, which the Amazon option is lacking. However, this product is lacking the chairs and table offered by Amazon's four-piece set.
Shoppers after a more budget-friendly option may opt for the Home Cento 2 Seater Rattan Effect Garden Bistro Set, also from Argos. While this set only includes two chairs and a small table, it's cheaper than either other option at just £99.
But it can't be doubted that customers are loving the four-piece Amazon option, as it boasts a strong 4.4 out of five-star rating.
One happy customer said: "Very sturdy, easy to move, may need two to put together but did manage by myself with a drill as it's all put together with an allen key.
"Alignment is good. No missing parts. Looks good put together and fits where it needs to. Great value for money."
Another pleased shopper said: "Great wee set. Sofa nice and big. Two chairs are larger than "normal" chairs.Cushion a bit thin but like most other sets. Fab buy for the price. I bought back cushions and it's gorgeous.
"Built it myself in about 50 mins. It does say 2 people but it can be done easily with one. Alan key wears out towards the end but for the money worth buying."
But other shoppers weren't so pleased, with one describing the set as "awful to put together". Another was unimpressed with the set's quality, saying: "It is cheap and I suppose I got what I paid for."
But others were left impressed with the product, as another positive review said: "Really pleased with this set of garden furniture. If I was able to put it together, and being an 80 year old female, it must be a doddle for a younger person."
Shoppers can purchase the rattan four-piece set on Amazon here.

Beats wireless earphones now nearly half price as shoppers say they are superior to other brands

Beats Powerbeats Pro earphones are now 49% off on Amazon, offering 9-hour battery life and over 24 hours with the case. Wireless earbuds have become a go-to choice for those seeking high-quality audio, hands-free calls, and workout-friendly durability. Among the most talked-about options are the Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones, which currently have a significant price drop on Amazon. Priced at £139, down from £269.95, they're now 49% off and available in Black, Ivory, and Navy. ‌ The Powerbeats Pro offers up to 9 hours of listening time on a single charge, with the case extending playback to over 24 hours. ‌ Designed with adjustable, secure-fit ear hooks, these earbuds are built for comfort and stability during intense workouts. A reinforced, sweat- and water-resistant build adds durability, while volume and track controls on each earbud, built-in microphones, and auto play/pause features round out the functionality. Several other options are also available in the wireless earbuds market. ‌ The Anker Soundcore Sport X20, for instance, features rotatable and extendable ear hooks, IP68 waterproofing, and up to 48 hours of playtime. It is currently priced at £74.99 (RRP £89.99) with a 4.3-star rating from 5,472 reviews. Another popular choice is the Apple AirPods Pro 2, which includes active noise cancellation, personalised spatial audio, and USB-C charging. At £189 (RRP £229), they've earned a 4.6-star average from over 15,000 reviews. But for those considering the Powerbeats Pro, there's plenty of positive feedback backing the choice. These earbuds hold a 4.1-star rating from 11,699 Amazon reviews. ‌ One user shared: 'My Powerbeats Pro is the best hearing aid I have ever bought... The battery lasts almost all day... With the hooks, my Powerbeats Pro sits comfortably in my ears with my glasses... Overall to me at least the Powerbeats Pro is superior to similar headphones in its class.' However, not all experiences have been flawless. One reviewer said: 'There are two negatives... No ANC. And the earphones tend to have a common flaw whereby in-case charging can be an issue... I normally spend a few seconds carefully placing them in my charging case but still have turned up to the gym with one earbud dead.' ‌ Other reviewers praised build quality and performance: 'Everything about these earphones scream quality... The sound quality surprised me... They are incredibly well balanced... Probably not as tight [a seal] as some others... but I don't find myself having to take them out because of a build up of pressure.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! While others were less impressed: 'The sound quality is just average, and they tend to fall out once I start sweating... there are times when only one headphone turns on after I take them out of the box.' ‌ Another user was particularly enthusiastic: 'These headphones are game changing... Sound quality is possibly the cleanest I've heard... Also these are the only earbuds that stay in and I can wear for 12 hours no issues.' The Beats Powerbeats Pro may not be without flaws, particularly when it comes to the size of the case and occasional charging issues—but they remain a strong contender in the premium workout earbud space. Get the Beats Powerbeats Pro Wireless Earphones HERE at £139 while the offer lasts.

Edinburgh pub launches 'first Guinness garden in city' with self-pour machine

More info An Edinburgh pub is launching the city's 'first Guinness garden' with a self-pour machine. Malones in Leith is offering free pints to 50 of the first customers through the door on June 6 to celebrate, from 3pm. The 'lively' terrace is decorated with Guinness inspired planters and promises a 'laid-back vibe'. A new summer sun spot for the area, their self-pour machine claims to be the first of its kind in the city, allowing punters to pour their own perfect pint. Malones Leith General Manager Charlie Douglas, said: "This is a game-changer for Guinness lovers. It's all about the experience - pulling your own pint and enjoying it in the sunshine with friends." The garden will be open from 10pm throughout the summer, and opens just in time for the jazz festival. (Image: Malones Pub Group) A spokesperson for Malones added: "It comes as West Ham United fans are set to receive free and discounted beer throughout the pre-season after signing a major multi-year deal with Scottish brewing giant BrewDog. "The former European Conference League winners announced the new partnership on their social media accounts last month. As part of the deal, the Ellon-based brewery has agreed to support grassroots football teams across Essex and East London by providing brand-new kits to several of them ahead of the new season." Harriet Cowan issues warning to new fans after Clarkson's Farm debut

Harriet Cowan has issued a warning to her new fans after making her debut on Clarkson's Farm. The 24-year-old was a newcomer to the Amazon show's fourth series, appearing alongside former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson on his Oxfordshire farm. Cowan was recruited due to farmhand Kaleb Cooper's professional commitments elsewhere. Taking to TikTok, Cowan alerted her followers to a negative consequence to her new-found fame — imposter accounts which have appeared online. 'I just don't want people to fall for it,' Cowan said in a green-screen video.
