King appoints new Chief Justice, judges at Istana Negara
The ceremony, held at the Singgahsana Kecil (Minor Throne Room), was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
According to a Facebook post, during the ceremony, Sultan Ibrahim presented the instrument of appointment for the position of Chief Justice to Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, who then took his oath of office and loyalty before the King.
His Majesty also presented the instruments of appointment for the President of the Court of Appeal to Datuk Abu Bakar Jais, followed by the appointment of Datuk Azizah Nawawi as Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak.
In addition, instruments of appointment as Court of Appeal Judges were awarded to Dr Shahnaz Sulaiman; Datin Paduka Evrol Mariette Felix Michael Peters; Ong Chee Kwan; Datuk Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid; Leonard David Shim; Nadzarin Wok Nordin; Datuk Meor Hashimi Abdul Hamid and Muniandy Kannyappan.
Meanwhile, instruments of appointment as High Court Judges were awarded to Maslinda @ Linda Mohd Ainal; Datuk Faridz Gohim Abdullah; Dr Choong Yeow Choy; Saiful Azian Mokhtar; Evawani Farisyta Mohamad; Indra Nehru Savandiah; Sumathi Murugiah; Moses Susayan; Kan Weng Hin; Dr Wendy Ooi Su Ghee; Mohd Rosli Yusoff; Dr Hazlina Hussain; Roszianayati Ahmad and Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz.

The allegations come less than two days after both governments agreed to a ceasefire brokered in Malaysia, which came into effect at midnight on Monday, aimed to stop fighting and prevent escalation of their deadliest conflict in more than a decade following five days of intense fighting that has killed at least 43 people and displaced over 300,000 civilians on either side. The truce came after a sustained push from Malaysian Premier Anwar Ibrahim and U.S. President Donald Trump, with the latter warning Thai and Cambodian leaders that trade negotiations would not progress if fighting continued. Thailand and Cambodia face a tariff of 36% on their goods in the U.S., their biggest export market, unless a reduction can be negotiated. After the ceasefire deal was reached, Trump said he had spoken to both leaders and instructed his trade team to restart tariff talks. On Wednesday, Thailand said Cambodian forces fired on positions in northeastern Thailand's Sisaket province on Cambodia's northern border. "Cambodian forces used small arms and grenade launchers, prompting Thailand to respond in self-defence," Thai army spokesman Major-General Winthai Suvaree told reporters. "This was the second incident since the agreement and reflects a behaviour that does not respect agreements, destroys de-escalation efforts and hampers trust between the two countries." Cambodia rejected the allegations, saying it was committed to the ceasefire and called for observers. "Cambodia strongly rejects the ceasefire accusations as false, misleading and harmful to the fragile trust-building process," Cambodian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Chum Sounry told reporters at a press conference, adding the government supports a monitoring mechanism and independent observation. The ceasefire, which also agreed to halt troop movement, paves the way for a high-level military meeting that includes defence ministers on August 4 in Cambodia. There have been no reports of any exchange of heavy artillery fire but also no reports of troop withdrawals by either side. YouTube joins Meta Platforms Inc.'s Facebook and Instagram, Snap Inc.'s Snapchat, TikTok and X in the ban on underage account holders, which is due to come into force on Dec. 10, the government said in a statement. "We know that social media is doing social harm,' Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said at a press conference Wednesday. "We know this is not the only solution and there's more to do. But it will make a difference.' The age-restricted social media platforms face fines of as much as A$49.5mil (RM136.6mil) for failing to stop underage account holders users on their services, the government said. Though the legislation allows Australian authorities the flexibility to change the list of firms that must comply, YouTube's exclusion had riled rivals. That was further fueled by April's revelation that then-Communications Minister Michelle Rowland had made a personal pledge of exemption to the video site's boss. Australia's online regulator called on authorities to reverse YouTube's immunity last month, with eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant saying data show it's young Australians' most-used social media platform – and biggest source of harm. Online gaming, messaging, education and health apps are excluded from the ban. "These types of online services have been excluded from the minimum age obligations because they pose fewer social media harms to under-16s,' Communications Minister Anika Wells told the media briefing. PM Anwar to table 13th Malaysia Plan in Parliament tomorrow
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be tabling the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (July 31). According to a media invite from the Economy Ministry, Anwar will be tabling the 13MP at 11.30am until 2.30pm. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said on July 19, the tabling of the 13MP will be the main focus of the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Parliament. The 13MP, which sets the direction for the country's development for 2026 to 2030, is the first by the Madani Government under Anwar's administration as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. Anwar previously said the 13MP was formulated with a focus on the economic empowerment of the people through increased income, inclusive and sustainable economic structural reforms, as well as strengthening governance and efficiency in public service delivery. Apart from that, it also emphasises regional justice, human capital development, and policy reforms to strengthen Malaysia's competitiveness at the global level in line with the principles of Madani Malaysia. In this regard, Johari said this Dewan Rakyat session would provide adequate debate time for Members of Parliament to discuss the contents of the 13th Malaysia Plan while calling on all elected representatives to be professional and use the debate space well.
