Suzie Miller's buzzy play ‘Prime Facie' is also a book – and Jodie Comer narrates it
After debuting in pre-covid Australia, Prima Facie premiered in the West End in 2022. Starring Jodie Comer and with composition by Self Esteem, the show went on to win best new show and best actress at the Lawrence Olivier Awards before opening on Broadway. It then broke box office records when it played in cinemas for NT Live – unsurprisingly a film is now also in the works.
'It is a huge privilege to return to Prima Facie for one last time,' said Comer. 'I can't think of a better finale to what has been such an incredible and deeply rewarding chapter in my life.' The tour will begin in London on 23 January 2026, before visiting cities across the UK and concluding in Comer's hometown Liverpool on 21 March.
Inspired by Miller's experience as a criminal defence lawyer in sexual assault cases, the play follows Tessa, a criminal defence barrister who specialises in defending men accused of sexual assault. Then, she was assaulted herself. As Tessa tries to get justice for her own rape, Miller drives home how the legal system consistently fails women in court.
To bring it to a wider audience, Miller turned the hit play into a novel last year. She dedicated it to 'all the women who comprise the 'one in three'', referring to a line in the play's powerful script about the number of women who are sexually assaulted in the UK each year.
If you're yet to see the play or want to revisit Tessa's story, here's where you can buy the book version of Suzie Miller's Prima Facie – plus the audiobook narrated by Jodie Comer herself.
A novelised version of the award-winning play, Miller's Prima Facie pads out the court drama. A successful barrister who's disguised her working-class roots in a male-dominated world, she specialises in getting men acquitted from sexual assault trials. But when the tables are turned and a date with a colleague goes horribly wrong, Tessa is forced to question the lies she's built a career on.
If your gearing up to see Jodie Comer's one-woman turn in the play on tour, get a flavour of what to expect with the audiobook (£12.99, Amazon.co.uk). Narrated by the Tony-award-winning actor in what's sure to be an equally powerful performance, the audiobook delves deeper into Tessa's story.

Hollywood star under fire for 'sick' comments on Colbert cancellation
Sandra Oh's (pictured) strong words against CBS & Paramount raised eyebrows in the wake of their cancellation of The Late Show hosted by Stephen Colbert. The Killing Eve actress, 54, garnered controversy after making a number of strong comments on Tuesday's edition of the late night series on the network, with one prominent CBS commentator saying her sentiments were misguided. The Canadian-American star expressed her anger and frustration with Colbert's cancellation this month , after a 10-season run. 'Like probably everyone here and everyone who is so supportive outside wants to say that I am so sorry and saddened and properly outraged for the cancellation of late-night here,' the Emmy-winning actress said. Oh, a two-time Golden Globe winner, said that the decision made on the corporate level - which many say had political undertones - was a game-changer for standards in the U.S. amid President Donald Trump's second term. 'Not only for yourself and for this entire family who are here, but for what it means, of what it means where we are in our culture and what it means for free speech,' said the Sideways actress. Oh, who played Dr. Cristina Yang on ABC's Grey's Anatomy from 2005 until 2014, made strong wishes against the companies that were behind the move. 'So I just want to say, sorry, and also if I can have your hand,' she told the host, 'to CBS and Paramount - a plague on both of your houses.' Colbert said he was 'very grateful' as he wagged his finger, adding, 'I think they've been great partners.' Oh, who portrayed the role of Eve Polastri on the drama Killing Eve, garnered a number of strong responses via social media following the appearance - with some people saying she took things too far. Tony Dokoupil (pictured) of CBS Mornings said Oh had things pegged wrong in blaming Colbert's show ending on politics, amid a changing economic landscape in late night TV - and culture. 'The business is broken,' Dokoupil said. 'And what no one seems to acknowledge is that the politics also changed. 'The business changed and so did the politics, and it got way more one-sided than anything Johnny Carson was ever doing.' (Carson, who died in 2005, famously was one to steer clear of going too far left or right so as not to put off a chunk of his audience.) Dokoupil added, 'I think we should reflect on those changes as well - it's been a big shift culturally in that regard also.' Others applauded The Sympathizer star's strong support for the embattled Colbert, with one Instagram user declaring, 'I love a good Shakespearean insult.' Another user on the platform said: 'I know Stephen is really really sad mostly because he knows 200 people will also be out of work. He's a good man and he feels responsible. By the way, I love Sandra Oh!' A user responded of Oh: 'Technically she used their own platform against them, Colbert's show.' Said one X/Twitter user: 'sandra oh wishing a plague on cbs and paramount on steven colbert's show she's everything.' Another added, 'I'm screamingggg she's too funny.' The move to ax Colbert was a controversial one within some circles of Hollywood, as the late night host has received words of public support from the genre's elder statesman, David Letterman ; as well as former host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart. Stewart lashed out amid news of the cancelation, linking it to the $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance Media, which needed to be OK'ed by the Federal Communications Commission under Trump's administration. 'The shows that you now seek to cancel, censor and control, a not insignificant portion of that $8 billion value came from those [expletive] shows,' Stewart said. Dokoupil said that while he understood 'the emotional views' Stewart expressed, they weren't square with good business tactics. 'I don't have an MBA but he's not right that the merger, the $8 billion, is based on reruns of a comedy show, no,' he said. 'People are buying the movies and the sitcoms and the sports. They're not based on reruns of [CBS Mornings] either, so I think it's wrong.'

Jason Sudeikis films Ted Lasso with Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple in Kansas City
On Monday, production kicked off on the highly anticipated next installment of Ted Lasso, which is being filmed in none other than Kansas City - star Jason Sudeikis 's real-life hometown. In images, obtained by several of the show's fan-favorite cast members, including Juno Temple, Hannah Waddingham, and Jeremy Swift, were all seen reprising their iconic roles on location at a sunny soccer field. The stateside pivot marks the first time Ted Lasso has filmed in the U.S. after three Emmy-winning seasons set across the pond. Additional scenes are still expected to shoot in London, where the fictional AFC Richmond made their unlikely rise. While plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, Sudeikis was seen in his character's signature mustache and sweater combo. Temple rocked a tied-up yellow shirt with a soccer ball on it, black studded miniskirt and 'KC' baseball cap. Waddingham also opted for a casual ensemble, which consisted of a navy 'Kansas City' tee and pants. The cast's sighting comes after Apple TV's head of development, Matt Cherniss, told Deadline he has 'high hopes for season four of Ted Lasso.' He said in July: 'I have high hopes for season four of Ted Lasso, we're just getting down that road. I don't know what more can be said about Ted Lasso that hasn't already been said, and we're so excited that it's coming back. 'I don't think I want to say anything about the direction that the show is going, only that I think if you love Ted Lasso you're gonna love the next season.' Four months earlier, Sudeikis confirmed there will be a season four of Ted Lasso while appearing on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights. The actor teased: 'Ted's coaching a women's team, so there, that's it.' Lasso, the American football-turned soccer coach played by Sudeikis, had coached fictional Premier League side AFC Richmond in the first three seasons of the show. In response to Sudeikis' revelation for season 4, Travis asked if that meant Lasso would be returning to his native US. Sudeikis playfully replied: 'That's too many questions,' before noting he didn't actually know the answer himself. Sudeikis added that coming up with a new season was both 'exciting' and 'daunting.' He said: 'Because we told the story we wanted to tell, but there's more there and it is a neat group of people to work with.' The former SNL star, 49, noted that 'the universe kept just saying things' after Hollywood emerged from the actors' and writers' strike in 2023. '... Whether [it was kind folks at airports, or on the internet, or friends of my folks or just other people in the industry... and I was just like, 'Ok, I hear you.'' The series' co-creator, Bill Lawrence, gave life to a possible fourth season of the show in August, when he suggested the decision ultimately came down to Sudeikis. He told Collider: 'As fans, we'd all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing, which is: whatever Jason feels like doing and whatever his decision is, we're all down with it.' The show's return comes after earning 20 Primetime Emmy Awards in its first season, and winning seven including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Sudeikis. Players: Once again, the fortunes of a soccer team appear to be central to the show's plotline Since premiering in 2020, the series has received 61 Primetime Emmy Awards nods. It's also received a Producers Guild of America Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Writers Guild of America Awards, as well as nominations for five Directors Guild of America Awards. It has received two Golden Globe Awards, seven Critics' Choice Television Awards, and three TCA Awards. At this time, no release date for Season 4 of Ted Lasso has been revealed.
