Fire crews knock down commercial fire in NW Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to a commercial fire Thursday afternoon after first receiving reports of it being a car fire.
According to officials, fire crews responded to the fire near NW 23rd Street and May Avenue just after 1 p.m., and heavy smoke was seen coming from a converted gas station.
The building housed a body shop located in the back, and a convenience store in the front.
OKCFD says the fire was caused by unattended cooking. All occupants were evacuated before fire crews arrived and no injuries were reported.
The building sustained heavy smoke damage.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department reminds Oklahomans to never leave cooking unattended.
