West Hartford firefighters surprise guest on Drew Barrymore Show
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Some members of the West Hartford Fire Department appeared on Monday's episode of the Drew Barrymore Show to surprise one of the guests.

The firefighters were there to surprise actor Denis Leary, whose organization 'Leary Firefighters Foundation' provided the department with a grant for new equipment.
'We kind of had a scary moment in our department and it highlighted the need for new equipment, so we put out the call for help and Denis answered,' Deputy Chief Adam Pacheco said. 'His foundation came through. We were able to outfit every single member with a bailout kit and I can say honestly now our people are safer than they ever have been. Thanks to Denis.'
The Drew Barrymore Show airs weekday afternoons at 3 on WCTX.

The Branford Festival is a three-day celebration with a road race, music, food and local crafts. Due to construction, this year's event will be held at Hammer Field instead of Branford Green. What dad doesn't love bacon? The Connecticut Bacon Festival is a two-day bacon celebration! Dad can try out chocolate-covered bacon, bacon mac and cheese, candied bacon and more at the Lebanon Fairgrounds. To celebrate 'Open House Day,' the Noah Webster House in West Hartford will offer free tours of the home and garden. There will be crafts, games and a new exhibit. Bird lovers can combine the beauty of birds with history at the Connecticut Audobon Bird Walk. The stroll around the Oak Lawn Cemetery and Arboretum in Fairfield will start with spotting gorgeous birds, followed by a guided tour of the Ogden House. You need to be registered to join in. The Lyman Orchards Strawberry Festival is a sweet way to kick off summer. After you pick your own berries, you can check out the food trucks, get your face painted, or loosen your belt for the pie-eating contest. It's family fun Saturday at the 6th annual Hamden Fest!
