Klang Valley, Johor companies raided for smuggling RM250mil in tobacco products
The operation, codenamed Ops Sikaro, was carried out by MACC's Special Operations Division in collaboration with the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), Bank Negara Malaysia and the Customs Department.
MACC Special Operations senior director Datuk Mohamad Zamri Zainul Abidin confirmed the raids, saying that they targeted 14 locations across the Klang Valley and Johor.
Investigations are being conducted under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009 as well as Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA).
'MACC will not compromise with any party attempting to profit from corruption, money laundering and smuggling that causes significant losses to the nation,' he said in a statement.

Civil servant denies corruption charge
LABUAN (Aug 21): A 44-year-old civil servant pleaded not guilty at the Labuan Special Corruption Court today to a charge of accepting a valuable item from a contractor linked to a fisheries-related project, four years ago. Anisah Embok was accused of receiving an ASUS A516E-AE121T notebook computer from a contractor involved in the supply of equipment for the Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) project under the MyKomuniti Tuna Fisheries initiative, on July 29, 2021. She was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, which carries imprisonment for up to two years, a fine, or both, upon conviction. Judge Jason Juga granted her bail of RM10,000 with one surety and ordered her to report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) once every two months. Melaka launches G.A.M.A programme to combat bullying in boarding schools
MELAKA: The state government will launch the Anti-Bullying Movement for Boarding School Students (G.A.M.A) Programme next week through the State Education Department. State Education, Higher Education and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman described the programme as 'a strategic initiative and added value to the 2019 formation of the Melaka Anti-Bullying Task Force'. 'The G.A.M.A programme is organised by the Student Affairs Unit, Student Development Sector of the Melaka JPN, in collaboration with the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, the Melaka Police Headquarters and the Islamic Family Laws Division of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM).' 'This programme is also in line with the Education Ministry's 'Reformasi@Sekolah' agenda, which emphasises support, accountability and strategic cooperation between schools, local communities and enforcement agencies,' he told reporters today. Rahmad confirmed that 'the G.A.M.A programme launch would be held at SM Sains Muzaffar Syah on Wednesday (Aug 27)'.
