May 16 (UPI) -- DC Comics announced on Friday a new five-issue Black Label series titled Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum.
The series, which will begin on Aug. 13, will follow Superman as four new Kryptonites are discovered in deep space.
The Man of Steel must discover what effect these new Kryptonites have on him with the help of Batman. Kryptonite is Superman's main weakness, a material from his home planet of Krypton.
Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum hails from W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo and Chris O'Halloran, the creative team behind the Eisner Award - nominated Ice Cream Man from Image Comics.
"Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum is a story about new types of Kryptonite, and the effect those new types have on Kal-El and his world," said DC group editor Paul Kaminski.
"The series offers an opportunity to unleash the acclaimed Ice Cream Man creative team on the DCU, with episodic tales that play with storytelling styles. These tales are often warped, suspenseful and occasionally horrific, and lean into the rich stylings of the silver age Superman franchise," Kaminski continued.
Black Label is a DC Comics imprint that feature standalone stories for a more mature audience.
DC Comics and Warner Bros. will be releasing the new Superman film from director James Gunn in theaters on July 11. David Corenswet stars as Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

File Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo June 5 (UPI) -- Hulu is previewing The Man in My Basement, starring Corey Hawkins and Willem Dafoe. The thriller film is based on the novel by Walter Mosley, who co-wrote the screenplay with director Nadia Latif. The trailer released Thursday begins with a loud knock at the door that awakens Charles Blakey (Hawkins). Anniston Bennet (Dafoe) stands on the doorstep of the home, located in 1994 Sag Harbor, New York. "I have it in mind to rent your basement for a couple months," Bennet says, emphasizing that he is "only interested in renting." "I'll pay you $1,000 a day for 65 days," he proposes. The money would enable Blakey to keep his home, which had been in his family a long time and was facing foreclosure. Bennet's arrival, however, brings "in a force much darker than" Blakey anticipated. "We're exploring mental health, trauma, exploitation, and yes, the nature of evil, but we're also dealing with legacy, lineage, home and love," Hawkins told Entertainment Weekly. "A script centered on blackness in middle-class Sag Harbor in the '90s is loaded with cultural significance." An official release date has not yet been shared.

Watch: Benson Boone performs, discusses 'American Heart' on 'Tonight'

June 5 (UPI) -- Benson Boone performed "Momma Song" and discussed his upcoming album American Heart on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. The singer, 22, took to the stage in a brown leather jacket and sang about a profound love for his mother, along with a knowledge that moments with her would one day become memories he'd cherish. The track will appear on American Heart, due June 20. He told Fallon that his album title was inspired by his song "Young American Heart." "And to me that's like the inspiration track of the whole album, and it's about me and my best friend," he told Fallon. "...When we were younger, we got in a car accident, and it wasn't, like, a typical car accident. We were driving in a field. We were driving in his backyard and we flipped the car." He said he was either 15 or 16 when the wreck occurred, and it changed his perspective. "It was like the first time in my life that I was like, 'Oh my gosh, like, this dude, my best friend, he means everything to me. I don't want to die right now,'" Boone said. Boone also discussed his upcoming arena tour, which kicks off Aug. 22 in Minnesota and winds down Oct. 8 in Utah. "This is by far the biggest tour I've ever done, and it's a big moment for me, for people to just know who I am, you go to the show and this is, by far, the best performance I will ever, up to this point in my life, put on," he said. "And it's a full-on show. I might even change my outfit during the show."
