It is planning to give 'Ice Cream Man' a wide theatrical release during the second quarter of 2026. The deal was negotiated by WME Independent and Andrew Kramer of Willkie Farr & Gallagher on behalf of the film. DC Comics announces new Black Label series 'Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum'
"Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum" #1 cover by Martín Morazzo and Chris O'Halloran. The five-issue Black Label series goes on sale Aug. 13. Photo courtesy of DC Comics May 16 (UPI) -- DC Comics announced on Friday a new five-issue Black Label series titled Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum. The series, which will begin on Aug. 13, will follow Superman as four new Kryptonites are discovered in deep space. The Man of Steel must discover what effect these new Kryptonites have on him with the help of Batman. Kryptonite is Superman's main weakness, a material from his home planet of Krypton. Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum hails from W. Maxwell Prince, Martín Morazzo and Chris O'Halloran, the creative team behind the Eisner Award - nominated Ice Cream Man from Image Comics. "Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum is a story about new types of Kryptonite, and the effect those new types have on Kal-El and his world," said DC group editor Paul Kaminski. "The series offers an opportunity to unleash the acclaimed Ice Cream Man creative team on the DCU, with episodic tales that play with storytelling styles. These tales are often warped, suspenseful and occasionally horrific, and lean into the rich stylings of the silver age Superman franchise," Kaminski continued. Black Label is a DC Comics imprint that feature standalone stories for a more mature audience. DC Comics and Warner Bros. will be releasing the new Superman film from director James Gunn in theaters on July 11. David Corenswet stars as Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

Eli Roth Reveals Title for His ‘Most Terrifying & Insane' Horror Movie Yet
Eli Roth's next movie officially has a title, and he promises it's going to be his most 'insane' film yet. Speaking to Variety, Roth revealed that his next movie will be called Ice Cream Man. According to Roth, the movie is his 'most terrifying and insane' yet, and will follow the story of an 'idyllic summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.' Despite sharing the name of another horror movie from 1995, this Ice Cream Man is based on an original idea Roth had over 20 years ago. The filmmaker will write the script and direct, which will be fully financed by The Horror Section, a brand-new independent studio from Roth. According to him, The Horror Section's creation will hopefully allow him to return to making independent horror movies. He also mentioned that financing for Ice Cream Man was originally hard to come by, with studios feeling 'antsy' about it. Most recently, Roth was the director for 2024's Borderlands adaptation. He is much more known in the world of horror, though, having directed 2002's Cabin Fever, 2005's Hostel, 2023's Thanksgiving, and more. Eli Roth is Bringing Horror to the Neighborhood with ICE CREAM MAN His "Most Terrifying and Insane" Movie Yet — GeekTyrant
Eli Roth, the horror filmmaker behind Hostel , Cabin Fever , and most recently Thanksgiving , is directing a new original horror film titled Ice Cream Man , and he's calling it the wildest thing he's ever made. Roth talked about the film saying: 'I've had this idea for a long, long time, and studios were too afraid of my early drafts. Now's the time to push the envelope farther than I ever have with what I think will be my most terrifying and insane film to date. 'Films like Ice Cream Man are what we created The Horror Section for, to make unrated, boundary-pushing theatrical events the horror fans can all scream about for years. I'm very lucky to have such fantastic partners like MCT and, of course, all the investors in The Horror Section.' That new company, The Horror Section, launched earlier this year in partnership with Media Capital Technologies (MCT), with a mission to finance and produce bold, independent genre films that don't have to tiptoe around studio concerns. And Ice Cream Man is first in line to deliver the bloody goods. Plot-wise, details are under wraps, but here's the hook: 'an idyllic summer town descending into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results.' Roth wrote the script himself, based on an idea he's been sitting on for over two decades. MCT Principals Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh are betting big on this being a game-changer for modern horror. 'Working with Eli is always a privilege, and this film feels fresh and exciting as it's his first original project in the independent market in nearly a decade. We believe Ice Cream Man will mark the start of the next great horror franchise with massive commercial potential.' If Ice Cream Man really is as terrifying and insane as Roth promises, it may be the sweet nightmare horror fans have been craving. Source: Variety
