Cartoon Network slayed the anti-Pride trolls in their own comments

Yahooa day ago

With all the anti-gay and anti-Pride rhetoric happening, at least Cartoon Network (CN) isn't backing down from their allyship.
We may be seeing pullbacks from major corporations like Target, but CN posted a carousel of images of fan-inspired artwork from their queer characters that showed their support of LGBTQ+ identities.
www.instagram.com
Captioned 'You are an EXPERIENCE!' with a Pride flag, they went on to say, 'Pride is a reminder to live bravely in your authenticity - use your voice, stand up for others, and spread love.' They closed it with a heart in each color of the flag.
This, of course, sent some people into a tailspin in the comments section, but the animated network didn't hold back from scolding people for their homophobic and pearl clutching responses.

Most of the negative comments revolve around how people feel like their 'childhood is gone' and complaining about how CN has turned woke.
In return, CN has responded with various reactions that revolve around how it doesn't seem like any of these people have grown up.

After a wave of hatred, CN commented that 'some of yall need to rewatch some episodes and it shows,' which further upset the haters but elevated its support from non-bigots, as well.

They further trolled people by saying, 'Watching comments be mad about characters from a show that aired 15 years ago' after people initially blew up about the post.

It wasn't only the hatred they responded to, either. Some users have called out the homophobia and hate crimes that have seen an uptick this year. One user said they were happy that 'at least CN is here for us,' to which they responded, 'always.'

The network's willingness to stand up for what they believe in—and the backbone they have not to back down when confronted—has left users calling for a 'raise and extra vacation days' for the people who run the account.

Their responses, for their part, have also largely turned around the conversation in lieu of more support than anger. One user commented that they 'came here to fight with someone' but found a 'surprising lack of negative comments now,' which also helps move the conversation forward in a more positive light.

All in all, it's nice to know that some companies still stand with us in the face of the unknown. It's even better that they're not willing to bend the knee and stray from who they are and what they believe.
Here's to hoping more companies have a spine like this, and that the conversation becomes more positive and inclusive as it has in this comment section.

Genndy Tartakovsky Developing Wild High Octane Animated Series HEIST SAFARI For Adult Swim — GeekTyrant

Genndy Tartakovsky, the creative mind behind Dexter's Laboratory , Samurai Jack , and Primal is charging back onto the Adult Swim lineup with a new animated series called Heist Safari , and it sounds like pure, beautiful chaos. The show is described as an 'animated high octane action comedy,' and it tells the story of three frog brothers who rob a bank. 'Seems simple enough, but the execution is special as !#&$??!!!!,' That pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the tone of this show. It sounds exactly the kind of unhinged, full-throttle animation Tartakovsky thrives in. He always manages to hit that perfect sweet spot between absurdity and genius. Heist Safari was actuslly first pitched live on stage a year ago at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival to Adult Swim President Michael Ouweleen. Now, one year later, it's officially in the works because apparently when Genndy throws an idea out into the wild, the universe listens. Tartakovsky is currently promoting Fixed , his raunchy new Netflix movie made under his Sony Animation deal, and he also packed the house at a Cartoon Network Studios panel celebrating 25 years of boundary-pushing animation. Reflecting on his career and creative momentum, Tartakovsky said, 'It feels like when I was younger, I feel like that energy makes me still want to do new things.' That energy? It's clearly alive and well. If Heist Safari is anywhere near as insane and inspired as it sounds, we're in for something wild. Bring on the frog bandits. Source: Deadline

Taylor mayor acknowledges ‘uproar' over Pride proclamation denial, calls it ‘partisan issue'

TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) — The mayor of Taylor, Texas, has doubled down on a decision to deny signing an official proclamation acknowledging June as Pride Month, just weeks ahead of an annual Pride festival in the city. Mayor Dwayne Ariola made a Facebook post about it on Wednesday, saying he wanted to 'address recent concerns regarding the Pride Proclamation and clarify the position of my office and the City Council.' Previous coverage | Taylor Pride denied city proclamation after 4 years of approvals, sparking backlash, petition The City Council is a nonpartisan body, and it is my strong belief that we should remain focused on representing all residents, without stepping into issues that are clearly divisive along partisan lines. The recent uproar—on both sides—regarding this proclamation request makes it clear that this has become a partisan issue, and as such, I do not believe it would be appropriate for a nonpartisan council. Dwayne Ariola, Mayor of the City of Taylor, Texas, via Facebook Earlier this month, non-profit organization Taylor Pride posted on social media about Ariola's decision to deny a request from a resident for an official Pride Month proclamation. The group also created a petition online pushing for Ariola to reverse the denial. As of Thursday morning, the petition had more than 1,600 signatures. Taylor Pride is the group behind organizing the city's annual Pride celebration. This year, the Taylor Pride Music and Arts Festival will be held Saturday, June 28, at Heritage Square Park, marking its fifth anniversary. Ariola also said in the Facebook post that the permits for the annual Pride celebration were approved, saying, 'I fully support the right of individuals to celebrate and express themselves freely,' and that the only difference this year is that there will not be a signed mayoral proclamation. Taylor was the first Williamson County city to host an official Pride celebration back in 2021. Other area cities, like Georgetown, Leander, and Cedar Park, followed suit. Since the first Taylor Pride celebration, the city has received a Pride Proclamation yearly, signed by former Mayor Brandt Rydell. This is the first year in the last four that an official Pride Proclamation has been denied for the city of Taylor. The city of Taylor earlier this month sent KXAN the email correspondence between Mayor Ariola and the person who submitted the proclamation application this year. An email from Ariola stated his initial reasoning for denying the application was that there are other 'unifying observances' during the month, such as Juneteenth and the birthday of former Texas Gov. Dan Moody, who is a Taylor native. Taylor Pride organizers and other community members are planning to show up to the city's council meeting Thursday evening to voice concerns over the mayor's decision. Neighboring Williamson County cities Cedar Park and Georgetown are set to issue proclamations recognizing Pride month. Cedar Park will issue a proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month at its city council meeting Thursday evening, according to the council's agenda. Georgetown is set to proclaim June as Pride Month on Friday, June 20. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
