Jack MacKenzie among Scottish Cup winners leaving Aberdeen this summer
Aberdeen have announced that five of their Scottish Gas Scottish Cup-winning squad will depart the Pittodrie club.
Left-back Jack MacKenzie, developed through the club's youth academy, came on as substitute before the penalty shootout win over Celtic at Hampden Park on Saturday and will leave along with back-up goalkeeper Ross Doohan, who sat on the bench as the Dons took the trophy back to the Granite City for the first time since 1990.
Returning to their parent clubs at the end of their loan spells are Kevin Nisbet (Millwall), Oday Dabbagh (Charleroi), Jeppe Okkels (Preston) and Alfie Dorrington (Tottenham).
Strikers Nisbet and Dabbagh, as well as defender Dorrington, all played a part in the historic cup win in front of over 20,000 Red Army fans with tens of thousands lining the streets for the trophy parade on Sunday.
Providing a squad update following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, Aberdeen also confirmed that number three keeper Tom Ritchie and midfielder Jamie McGrath, who confirmed in February that he was leaving to join Hibernian, will depart along with youngsters Blair McKenzie, Evan Towler, Victor Enem and Fraser Mackie on conclusion of their contracts next month.
Dons boss Jimmy Thelin told the club's official website: 'We would like to thank each and every player leaving the club for their effort and contributions whilst with Aberdeen and wish them all every success in their future careers.
'Some of these boys have been here for a long, long time and departing a club is always emotional.
'But they can look back with pride and I am so pleased many of them are leaving with a winner's medal from last weekend.'

His sensational form has unsurprisingly put him on the map, with several clubs from across the UK keeping tabs on his development. Reid had two trial periods at Lennoxtown at the beginning of the year but Celtic didn't make a decision on the 16-year-old. He has plenty of options elsewhere though, should Celtic decline to make a swoop, as Premiership rivals Aberdeen are believed to be interested along with a host of other clubs. The Belfast News Letter states he has also caught the attention of EFL Championship sides Preston North End and Wrexham, the newly-promoted Welsh-based club owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Meanwhile, Aberdeen are also planning a swoop for another striker to add extra firepower to the first team for next season. Jimmy Thelin is set to lose Kevin Nisbet after his loan stint from Millwall ended, while Oday Dabbagh's future at his parent club Charleroi is currently unclear. Reports state, however, that Thelin has his eyes on another target to fill the void in attack. The Dons are reportedly interested in signing Ronan Hale from Ross County following their relegation to the Championship. He scored 18 goals for the Staggies last season but failed to prevent them from the drop. The 26-year-old still has two years left on his deal at Dingwall after only joining the club last summer but he is expected to move on in the coming weeks. Scotland aiming for record when England visit in Women's Six Nations
Scotland are aiming to host the country's biggest-ever crowd for a women's standalone sporting event after it was revealed that next year's Guinness Women's Six Nations showdown with England will take place at Murrayfield Stadium. The Scots have played their home matches at Edinburgh's 7,800-capacity Hive Stadium since 2021. However, Scottish Rugby, encouraged by growing interest in the women's game, announced that next April's showpiece fixture against England will be staged at the 67,000-capacity national stadium. The organisation's head of women and girls' strategy, Gemma Fay, is hoping they can drum up an even a bigger crowd than the 18,555 that watched Scotland's women's football team in a pre-World Cup friendly at Hampden in May 2019. 'We know the current record exists with Scottish football right now, and I was there,' said Fay, a former Scotland footballer. 'It was a wonderful day, an amazing atmosphere, and we want to replicate that out here. 'We want to do even better. And if other teams want to challenge us to get that highest standalone women's sporting event in Scotland, please do, because we want to push everybody together. 'For us, this is not just about raising the standard, the awareness and the visibility of Scottish women's rugby in a Rugby World Cup year. This is about everybody in women's sport in Scotland raising that together, because we know ourselves that we can only do this together with the other sports. 'We've got just under a year to sell this fixture, that was purposeful. We've got a wonderful World Cup to look forward to that's happening in England. That's already record-breaking (in terms of ticket sales) and we want to use that momentum to push us forward.' Scotland Women have played at Murrayfield only twice before – but never on the scale anticipated next April. Full-back Chloe Rollie is relishing the chance to represent her country in front of a big crowd at the national stadium. 'Over the years I've been to Murrayfield a lot to support the men's team and I wished I could run up and down that pitch, be there catching a high ball with the team that I'm with just now and making memories like that,' said the 29-year-old. 'I didn't think this would ever happen, I played at Broadwood, my first cap (in 2015), there were maybe not even 200 people there and 75 per cent of that was family and friends, so it was almost like you played the game and that was it, there were no fans there wanting autographs or wanting pictures. 'To see where it is now, you're taking an hour to get through the tunnel because you've got people asking for autographs, asking for pictures, asking for your boots, your socks etc, it's really amazing to see that change and to have that opportunity again to raise those numbers is massive.' What do Aberdeen need in transfer window?
The transfer window opened on Sunday - albeit for 10 days initially, mainly so sides competing in the Club World Cup can get early business done - before reopening for the rest of the summer on 16 have already been active this summer, with Australian winger Nicolas Milanovic on his way from Western Sydney Wanderers and goalkeeper Nick Suman signed from Cove there still an area of the squad that needs improving, or certain players you are desperate for the Dons to sign?
