Boy, 9, left with horror injuries after being ‘pinned to ground & mauled' by Akita dog while playing with pal
Zander Coyle was playing at a pal's home in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, when the powerfully built animal reportedly turned on him.

During the alleged attack, Zander suffered a gash to his head and puncture wounds to the back and side of his neck as well as bite marks.
His dad Alex claimed that the dog's owner – the pal's dad – had to pull the pet off Zander after it had him pinned to the ground.
Zander was rushed to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie, Scotland, where doctors cleaned up the wounds and gave him antibiotics to prevent them becoming infected.
Alex, 48, a machine operator, told the Daily Record: 'I think the dog should be put down.
"Anyone looking at the photographs of my sons' injuries would surely agree.
'The dog nearly killed Zander when he mauled him.'
The case is being investigated by North Lanarkshire Council, which has the power to seek a court order to have the dog put down.
A dog warden official met Alex earlier this week and is also due to meet the dog's owners.
The Control of Dogs Act gives councils the powers to impose conditions on the owner of an out-of-control dog which, if breached, can result in a fine.
A council can also apply to the court to have an owner banned from keeping a dog.
Alex does not attach any blame to the owners but worries that another child could be attacked while a decision is being made over the dog's future.
He added: 'When I went to the house where the attack took place, my son was in shock and shaking.
"The attack has left him deeply traumatised and he cannot go near dogs.
"If he sees a dog now, he gives them a wide berth.'
A North Lanarkshire council spokesperson said: 'Police Scotland referred this incident to us to investigate, and our Dog Warden took a statement from Mr Coyle on 11 August.
"To date, we have been unable to speak to the dog owner so a letter has been sent asking the owner to contact us to arrange for a statement to be taken and an assessment of the dog to be carried out.
"This will determine what action, if any, we take in terms of the Control of Dogs (Scotland) Act 2010.'
A Police Scotland spokesman said: 'We received a report of a dog attacking a child within a property in the Bellshill area.
'A nine-year-old boy attended hospital for treatment. The matter was referred to the local dog warden.'

Fife sex predator who raped teenage girls jailed for 10 years
A sex predator who subjected two teenage girls to an "appalling catalogue" of rape and abuse has been jailed for 10 years. Michael McRobie, 34, struck one of his victims with a whip during an attack. At the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, Judge Michael O'Grady KC said: "It is a statement of the obvious to say that you have been convicted of the most appalling catalogue of offences. "They amply demonstrate that you have a sinister, compulsive and deeply dangerous interest in children and adolescent girls." McRobie, of Kirkcaldy in Fife, had denied a series of charges at an earlier trial but was convicted of 12 offences - including six of rape. All of the crimes were committed in Fife. The judge stated: "It is clear that when you behaved as you did, you were neither stupid nor unthinking nor caught up in the moment. "It is clear that you are and were intelligent and articulate. It is clear that you knew precisely what you were doing. "Indeed, what you were doing was the product of cunning and manipulation and forethought. "One of these girls was a child and the other little more. Both in their own way were vulnerable, something you knew only too well and exploited to the full. "You are nothing more or less than a predator." McRobie began assaulting and abusing his first victim in March 2016 when she was aged 16. During attacks on her over several months, he subjected her to rape, restrained her and throttled her. He subjected a second girl to more prolonged abuse, which also started in March 2016 when she was aged 13. She was raped repeatedly and during abuse was hit on the body with his hands and a whip. The court heard that McRobie had possessed indecent images of children and also extreme pornography of bestiality. Judge O'Grady added: "The damage you have done to these young women is incalculable and I have no doubt its shadow will hang over them for the foreseeable future, perhaps forever." As well as the 10-year prison sentence, McRobie was additionally ordered to be supervised for four years after being released back into the community. He has also been banned from contacting his victims.

Brutal attack outside Glasgow lap-dancing club captured on video
A local resident filmed the shocking incident from his window. Shocking footage shows a man seemingly being brutally attacked outside a Glasgow lap dancing club. Seventh Heaven made headlines in May this year, after a 56-year-old man died fell down its stairs and died. Emergency services attended, but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The club later issued a statement confirming a man had died on the premises on May 24, and that it had fully closed and cooperated with the authorities. Police Scotland said there were not believed to be any suspicious circumstances relating to that incident, and the club reopened later the same day. The force also said it had not received any reports over the recent brawl outside the club.
